You've touched others with this small gesture of a comment you made, I think that means alot and and shows the love you had for each other and what a memory to have, take care x

What a genius music video. The imagery of the tiny hole (Idea of death) growing from the minuscule thing we never think of as a child. Gradually growing larger and larger to when it's unavoidable later in life. Then the reality that maybe it's nothing to be scared of or worried about.

    • @The_Khuzdul1
      @The_Khuzdul1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Not to mention the hole is foreshadowed at the beginning of the video with thr shot from inside the guitar. Maybe to represent birth, coming into light as opposed to moving away from it

    • @RLomoterenge
      @RLomoterenge 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

The foot through the hole is a milestone, like an accident or something that initializes his decline into death. When he falls in the hole it symbolizes him dying. He stomps the ground like saying “What the…? This ain’t so bad”.

Good God, has it really been this long? My daughter really loved this band and she saw them twice before she got cancer. This was one band that helped carry her through the treatments along with a local radio station. Her fiance sent a letter to the band letting them know how important they were to my daughter during this. To this day I still am not allowed to play this CD around my daughter's fiance. And I still cry hearing certain songs because i miss her every single day. But hey, For Aletha's sake Stay Beautiful.

I used to think it was really really sad, but now that I'm older, a little wiser, and have someone whom I love with all of my heart, I see it as a dark but really sweet and comforting song. I really would and _will_ follow her into the afterlife, no matter what it is. Whether it's heaven, hell, or absolutely nothing at all, I'll be at her side for it.

i felt a love as deep as what this song portrays, to someone i connected with the most in my life.. only for him to cheat. now, i don't know where that exact love goes.. maybe it just goes..

    • @zedzeduk
      @zedzeduk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

@@filipinagirl7393 I'm not religious, but I firmly believe in the passage "Love is patient, Love is kind", which contains "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth". Your man could not be honest with you (he cheated), so his love for you was not as yours was for him. The man you loved wasn't actually the man himself, but a better man that who he could be. It's so sad that he was not worthy of the love you had for him, but so it goes. You will, in time, find another that does, and realise that above all else in a relationship - there must be "truth". I hope you are ok.

Sitting next to my exwife (I love her so much, but we let life get in the way) she is slowly moving on to her next destination in this journey. The pain from the cancer treatments were too much and she decided that she had had enough. I played this song for her, I held her hand and kissed her.

@@TheHappys you're making some wild assumptions here. The way I read his comment is that his exwife is/was the one with cancer, her treatments were too painful so she elected to stop the treatments and move on to the next step in the journey of life, and that OP was by her side because he loves and cares for her still. I recognize where you came to your conclusion, the wording is subject to interpretation, however let's not by hasty in disparaging the character of a person you do not know and that another person has already stated they care for.

I sing this to my daughter all the time. She's five. She has cerebral palsy. She was born very very early and she and I both passed away during birth. It was very traumatic but we both survived. She's now a healthy vibrant little thing, fighting the good fight as we diligently try to help her learn to walk and live the best possible life. She is such a bright happy white light and what can sometimes be a very dark situation and pulls both of her parents through everyday. She loves to hear me sing this song. She can't fully talk yet but she sure can hold a note. This might be one of her favorite songs that her mama sings. Children with cerebral palsy don't have a very long life expectancy. When she decides it's time for her to go, I'll be right there with her. 💜

I'm chronically ill and my health has completely failed me. I turned 31 yesterday, I married my wife four years ago and intended to get a tattoo related to this song. She is an artist and she actually became a tattoo artist and she tattooed it on me herself for my birthday. I'm totally disabled and she's my sole caretaker. I've tried to get insurance to help but they won't send me home health nurse to alleviate my wife from caring for me. We've always loved this song and it's especially been meaningful given our situation and my failing health. I love her to pieces, sometime I just feel really bad, like I'm a burden at 31 years old. It sucks but I'm glad she loves me and we can share music like this that we grew up on and really cherish it together. It eases some of the pain being able to feel loved and validated hearing words that we both hold dear for each other. What a wonderful song that holds so much meaning for so many different people.

I lost my best friend last October and I’m still struggling with this loss, but I know the amount of pain that one person can make by cutting their life short. I still feel so empty without them. It’s not like every day is bad, but there’s moments of light when I remember them and I can’t help but to cry because I wish they were still here. You were an amazing musician, singer, and artist. I never understood why you never reached out when you knew I would be there for you without any judgement. I miss you so much, and wish we could’ve gone through this life together.

    Lyrics:
    Love of mine
    Someday you will die
    But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark
    No blinding light
Or tunnels, to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
In Catholic school, as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son, fear is the heart of love, " so I never went back
And if Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
You and me have seen everything to see
    From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
But it's nothing to cry about
'Cause we'll hold each other soon
    In the blackest of rooms
And if Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

After my grandmother passed away my grandfather went from being healthy to in a wheelchair with multiple tumors in his brain in just two months... He couldn’t walk and hardly talked.. So I'm an alcoholic, and the first time I tried to get sober a couple years ago, I basically, in a nutshell, hallucinated that a ghost more or less was trying to kill me and make me it's friend forever. Crazy I know, but I would hear this song being played somewhere outside in the distance, and when I would walk through my yard, the sound would change direction, but the song would play on repeat for hours on end, (all while dealing with this "ghost") and I swear I had never heard this song before. I googled the lyrics and here I am. I still swear that I've never heard this song before then. I'm a year sober now and this song still scares the shit out of me

Oh what I wouldn't give to be 24 again..
I'm in my late 30's & although I'm now over 6yrs sober after a decade long opioid addiction,I feel much older than I am.
I remember hearing this song in the midst of those dark times yet it reminds me of how I dug myself out of my own pit of misery even if it took a few tries.
If I could have a redo I'd surround myself w/good people, finish school and make something out of my life but I obviously can't redo my life so I'll try to make the best out of the rest of my life,God willing.
If you're still young and are reading this try not to be so hard on yourself,do the best you can do that you feel proud of YOURSELF years down the road, try not to spend time worrying so much about people who won't/don't respect you or who bring you down,be your beautiful, unique self and make sure you don't lose yourself in the madness of the world.
As the saying goes: "Wherever you go,there you'll be"
      Make it a good life.

Get some help with that. It’s no way to live.
What’s the point of life if you’re constantly consumed with the thought that you’re gonna die one day?
We all die. It’s unavoidable. It’s also nothing to be afraid of.
Most people that grow old are far more accepting of that fact. Some even long for the release.
I’d like to believe that when I’m old as dirt and am on my way out I won’t be afraid. I’ll be ready to go. I’ll have lived my life, raised my children and accomplished what I wanted. What more could a person desire?
I’ve always thought death will be a lot like it was before I was born. The absence of everything. No consciousness, no feelings, no thoughts, nothing. You wouldn’t even be aware of it. It’s really nothing to be scared of. You won’t have the ability to be afraid of it. So why let it control your life?
I assume you’re young. Deal with your fear now so you can enjoy what time you have left.
I’d bet if you do you’ll be ready and willing to go when your time comes.

@@JahWontPayTheBill that's a lot of wasted words (all of which i've either heard before or thought of myself at least a thousand times) all to add up to the ultimate stupid asshole advice: "lol just get over it!!!!!!!"
I'm 26. This started when I was 7. stop for a single second, pull yourself out of your little savior-complexed ass and think about that. Nearly 20 years of constant awareness of your mortality. for nearly 20 years, you go to bed every single night and think "Another day is gone that I will never get back. I'm another day closer now."
And just try to imagine nothingness. Can you? Can you really? Can you imagine not existing? Everything just being gone, forever, and none of it mattered?
Can you honestly say it doesn't scare you at all?
I've been to therapy. I've been to church. I've meditated. I've worked around dead and dying things. I've done just about everything that I've ever heard anyone say helped them "come to terms" with morality, and it's all been bullshit.
But sure, Genius Stranger On The Internet. I'll just Get Over It because you said so.

i always thought that the song is about surrender and total acceptance to an inevitable truth that we're all gonna die someday. the acceptance that your loved ones will die someday. and the fact that he is willing to be part of the pain and the suffering when they're gone is both painful and beautiful at the same time.

A very close friend passed away this morning, and this song randomly played on my Alexia while I sorted out my feelings. I have never heard it before, and I am not familiar with the band. I don't believe in coincidence, as everything happens for a reason. I heard it as more of a message, letting me know he was tired and wanted to be with his Kathy by letting go of his earthly bonds. Thank you for letting me know you are at peace Tom, I will miss you until we meet again.

My cousin Mikey passed away in 2018 when he was 17. My uncle took a video of him singing this song on the couch when he thought he was home alone and only realizes he’s being filmed halfway through. He was not a singer at all but he sang through the entire song (only to flip off the camera after when he saw my uncle was filming lol). I can’t listen to this song without hearing Mikey’s voice, and I like to think it’s the message he wanted to leave behind to us which is why he kept singing. My cousins and I are all really close and it’s not the same without him. I will follow you into the dark is such a comfort for our family.

Heaven can't hold us, hell can't handle us... I lost my best friend recently when she passed after 28 years spent just trying to stay alive and out of the hospital. I sang this to her when she finally left that pain behind. She's been with me since that night, in ways that defy explanation, finding a way somehow to let me know that hey, don't worry, because we're all gonna be okay.
It's not about where we end up after this life, where our souls might go... We're so much bigger than this mortal existence can contain, and so we must eventually break free of it and become far, far greater.
