n with the push ups if u do em short so not all the way down it'll be good for tendon strength n easier on ur wrist. u gotta be smart n feel ur bosy, know when its time to stop n rest. n no1 can teach u, only show u the doors.
Watch Jack Dempsey videos if you want to see the Dempsey roll itself. Everybody has their own style of bobbing and weaving. It will look slightly different even if they're doing the same thing.
This is so true, I fought a few times, always with taller and more heavier opponents. Obviously i'm more quicker than them but i know to improve my boxing i have to fight with opponents at my level.
+DanielOmega23 It's hard to implement when you're sparring with your mates. Like, you don't want to hurt them bad, and so your punches become careful. It's also hard to implement when you're sparring with a partner whose level is higher than yours: you think that if he gives you a handicap then you're better not to hit him with full force because otherwise you can get him mad and he'll beat the shit out of you (or, if the partner's level is somewhat equal to yours, the sparring might just degrade to a primitive brawl). IMHO.
I fought a guy like billy mentioned by in a street fight...he was a one punch hard hitting right hander... he would lean back and wait for me to be in range....as soon as he missed the right hand i landed a straight right hand back right into his nose...
Protect your face by working on your defensive skills. Stop rushing people by learning how to control yourself. If you don't know how to control yourself, boxing is gonna be extra hard for you.
Yeah jonny i was wondering if you can make a vedio about boxing a opponent That is taller, stronger and is a 1 punch knockout fighter. I would really appreciate it, thanks.
also u can try hanging some newspaper or something (i dont use anything) over a concrete wall n punching this, a bit soft a first but over weeks, months u start being able to not feel pain and can punch harder. use ur whole fist has a contact point tho (this is for no gloves). u can start with push up on ur fist tho, also good. do psudo and regular, keep ur wrist straight n put ur fist at diamond placing n further out n stuff. after awhile its like who cares i'll hit any part on someone.
I looked on here because I feel like my punches are weak even though I know they must hurt my opponent in sparring. I'll be patient and drill my technique for now, until I feel them get better. It's not that I'm lacking confidence, I'm just shit. :)
i just turned 16 and by accident i figured out i wasnt bad at boxing, after a few brawls at the play ground. i want to get into it though, i dont like street fighting. how do you think i should start? keep in mind i only know what i do from fights ive been in, and watching boxing on TV
When I first sparred I wasn't really looking at my sparring partner in the eye, and I wasn't throwing a lot of punches. I was just getting the hang of it and by my self I came up with the idea to look him in the eye, and to just go hard on him next time. After that happens which is most likely gonna be tomorrow I'll just report back and tell you the results man. :)
This is kind of off topic from the video but i sparred a guy that's more experienced then me the other day and he just swarmed me and was throwing a ton of punches and i used a high guard and covered up and partially blocked a lot of the punches.. and i tried something that seemed to be really effective when he kept coming at me aggressively i covered up and squatted down and leaned into him kind of and that seemed to smother his attack and he had me in the corner and i did that and it worked
For the life of me I cannot seem to protect my face. How do I protect my face better? And how do I stop rushing people? Im very aggressive and it cost me. Please help me out. Thank you.
I kinda indifferent about this. Idk if i'm crazy, but I just always seem more pumped when I'm fighting someone I know I ain't suppose to beat, and I feel like whenever I'm against someone on my level I get bored. It's weird it's like an adrenaline rush when I might/am get/getting my walked like a poodle in beverly hills.
I was wandering if you could give your opinion on something. I attend my local boxing gym 6 times a week and have done for about 6 months. I am the youngest and lightest in my gym weighing only 56kg at 16 years old. I do see allot of progression technically and my trainer thinks i can make it far as long as i keep it up. The problem is its hard to come in on people who way twice as much and coming in on them seems stupid anyway. Would your recommend i switch gym or will i learn in the deep end
I"m a weaver style boxer, and I find myself in a constant weave. DO you have any videos on pulling off the Dempsey Roll Correctly? I seen one guy use uppercuts out of it, I seen Jack pretty much just walk through it... but it's not super clear to me.
Hey John. I was watching videos on how to throw a hook. In my uploads there is a video of me boxing my little brother. No I'm not southpaw I just squared up like that. Anyway, I wanna know if the hook I hit him with at the end was good or not. To me it looked like a Tyson hook when he got low and put his shoulder into it.
Ive been training for 3 years now, ive always thought about sparring and competeing but my fear kind of stoped me from going after it. Im very confident with my punches, my stance, my footwork etc.. I fear of getting hurt lol like seriously hurt but i want to get passed that and have fun because i love this sport like crazy. I light sparred once and i have to say i loved it even tho it wasnt aggressive.. I would appreciate it if you gave me some advice of getting passed the fear?
I sparred for the first time not so long ago. My opponent has been boxing for 8 years and i only just started like 3 weeks ago. It was the worst beating ever lol. I came home with a black eye and everything. I felt like i was weak when i was inside the ring with him. I couldn't do anything. Got any tips on how to "feel" more powerful in the ring? Should i only spar with people on my level?
There is pretty much nothing a beginner can do against a guy with 8 years of experience. If you want to "feel" powerful, you should go back to the heavy bag or pick on somebody your level.
Like Mike tyson said " A happy fighter is a dangerous fighter".
n with the push ups if u do em short so not all the way down it'll be good for tendon strength n easier on ur wrist. u gotta be smart n feel ur bosy, know when its time to stop n rest. n no1 can teach u, only show u the doors.
Yes...spar above, below, and at your level!
That's on the way.
Watch Jack Dempsey videos if you want to see the Dempsey roll itself. Everybody has their own style of bobbing and weaving. It will look slightly different even if they're doing the same thing.
good stuff brother! I almost got in a fight today at the gym and this sudden fear paralyzed me 😂 at least it's confirmed why
This is so true, I fought a few times, always with taller and more heavier opponents. Obviously i'm more quicker than them but i know to improve my boxing i have to fight with opponents at my level.
I'll get that handled in the future.
Mike Tyson use to say that every punch should be loaded with bad intent and that goal should be to drill you fist through the back of his head

That should be a lot of fun. Sometimes it's fun to stare a guy down and follow him around the ring waiting for that one REALLY GOOD SHOT.
Yeaup, that's a good idea. A lot of guys will duck down and then ram you with the shoulders to your ribs to bump you off to the side.
Thanks bro! this helped out alot
I'm putting that together when I have more time to sift through my old sparring footage. You're the 23974032430th person to ask that.
I already have!
Check out my website guides and videos on improving hand speed.

I do muay thai and i want to improve My hands. I wanted to say That i am impressed by your vedios.
Thanks. Great technique!

He is LEGIT.
I have a video out on warming up the arms for boxing.
I have no idea but I do have long arms. So I don't care to measure them. ;)

Hi, Johnny! Can you made video about pre-fight or pre-training arms and body stretching?

Read my website. I've got a ton of boxing tips on there.
Hey jonny how would you box a opponent Who hits hard[1 punch fighter) then leans back and waits for you. thank you
Feint him. Then counter after he misses.

Check out my videos on throwing the left hook.

So true...
Get into a boxing gym and start training. You'll find out how good you really are.
Good comment.
'Guy in pyjamas states obvious'
Try visiting another gym and see if you like it.
@JacobLicano Good job bro. I bet he was done
Back axis fighter
whats your reach? your arms kinda long
20 sec advert? Wtf
Use your skills and hopefully there is something you can do better than him and focus on that.
post some sparring so we can see what you look
Is this guy legit? I don't know how to identify proper boxing techniques, etc yet..
They're so annoying!
