I really like the Italian vibe of the movie. One thing people don't really talk much about is that, aside from Léon and Tony, Mathilda was also of Italian descent, judging by her surname, "Lando". And weirdly, even though she's a jewess, Natalie does look Italian-American, in the role.
@@LeonandMathilda Another thing that I think would be interesting to add, regarding that, is that it adds, in my point of view, to the argument some use that Léon saw in Mathilda, in some way, his old girlfriend, the three of them being Italian.
I am Italian (as in born and raised in Italy) and, while Natalie Portman was super-pretty and I had crush on her (I can say that - I was younger than the Mathilda character when I first saw the movie), she doesn't look very Italian. She looks more like someone from Southern Eastern Europe or the Middle East. If I didn't know she was born in Jerusalem, I'd say she might be from Azerbaijan, Turkey, or Lebanon.
@@thermonuclearcollider4418 Natalie "Portman" Hershlag is an ashkenazi jewess - Hence, that's why, in your perspective, she doesn't look quite Italian. Leon have a debt of Tony, and for me the difficult to take your money comes for this. Tony is the only person who remembers the incident of Italy, and has given a house and job for Leon, and Leon feels like "Wow I have much debt with him, him is so good for me and I'm charging him like this, this is wrong" and Tony seems to know this, and start to make lessons of life for Leon in the middle of the conversations, and the money still in the same place.

One of my favorite soundtracks from the movie.
It's a good track, sounds very italian.
@@LeonandMathilda Indeed. I love southern Italian culture, that's one, of the many, reasons I love this movie, I reckon.

Good point! So that's one more thing connecting Léon and Mathilda, italian roots.

Tony should know... a don never wears shorts
Tony is a different breed of Don
Amazing how Tony was like a father to him, but Leon was still abused.
Jean Reno 💋💕
