same issue but mine does turn on and still use it as normal but when i charge the battery through my psp it doesnt charge straight into the battery but the device itself and give it and external source how do i fix that
Happened to me when i pulled off my sd card while psp was turned on. PSP could not detect battery anymore. I ended up buying a new battery what solved the problem. I really have no clue what happened, just for the future i will turn off my psp every time before taking my sd card out.

I had the exact same symptoms.
But I replaced it with a new battery and it was cured.
I don't know if it is a voltage issue or a model number issue.

This might be the power ic issue, it's a tough fix, you can reflow it or replace the ic
