11:32 It's not glued in. If you take the back piece off and remove the warranty sticker there is a screw with which you can take the cover off and then remove the battery
You don't have to remove the warranty sticker to do that. The PSP E-1000 is the only model you can take completely apart without removing the warranty sticker.
I remember back around 2011 my friend brought his PSP 3000 to school and he played GTA Liberty City stories all day. It was the coolest thing ever. So naturally I wanted one. I thought I’d agree on stylish when I saw photos of this thing, but I think the psp 1000/2000/3000 look much better once I compared them in person. Honestly, the go is my favorite in terms of looks
oh I've heard of this model and was told to avoid at a cost, not only did they cut out the Wi-Fi/internet from it there is AV ports for hooking it up to tv like the 2000-3000 and Go have. This was for all intense purposes a cut down PSP, thankfully they're easy mod unlike the Wii-Mini.
I have a custom one, got it for basically nothing, i had a broken black one, and i bought a white one for 15 euros, it was broken as well, so i made a white and black version, every button is black, even the bar underneath the screen is black on my psp, and i have to say, it looks amazing! Yes the back is a bit finicky, but, if you know how to take it off it is actually easier to get acces to the disk drive, that squeeky noise is because the motor slips on a gear that gets sticky because of the lubricant sony used (very cheap and horrible stuff), clean that out of there, and it works like new! I've put in a battery from a ps 4 controller which is 50mah more than the stock battery, gives me great batterylife.
"The PSP version you’ve NEVER heard of…" Me: "looking over at my PSP Street with tears in my eyes* "apparently, I have never heard of you... I am sorry!!! American's rule the World, and no matter what I believe, I have never heard of you."
I had one of these, the matte black looks really nice but the no internet sucks. Don't really care about the mono speaker but the und door is better made
I wish Sony made the PSP street more premium. I like the matte finish it has, but not having internet and being cheaper in build are setbacks, not a fan of the buttons, too. If I could build my own dream PSP, it'll probably be the matte finish from Street, the screen from the 3000 (though I heard the Go has a better screen but idk) and give it proper buttons at the bottom, I'd even keep the back piece of the street, but I'll keep the auto opening from the 1000 series, a feature I wish they never removed from later models and obviously make the battery easier to remove.
That defeats the purpose of the Street. It was meant to be a budget model. Every more premium thing automatically adds to the cost of making them and the retail price,
Yes the PSP is region coded; the one you have there is a region 5 edition (according to what I noticed it says on the box). Not sure if the games you have there are region 5 or not. (Because it is modded, however, it may be that the region code is irrelevant; as this is something that can be done when using a modded/jailbroken device I believe). (Correction - as someone else has said the region code is for movie discs, the games are region free. A mod/jailbreak still would allow this to be no problem. An Action Replay would also allow multi region either way).
I have my psp street since 9 years still in mint condition, honestly the matte body feels really nice and solid than the fingerprint magnets the other psps are, not that I ever got to hold one in my hands.
I have two psp streets and I love them despite the downsides. No wifi (it doesn't matter today), mono speakers (I always use my headphones anyways). I love how this model feels in my hands, it has a better grip than the 2000. Also in previous models the battery cover seems like is going to fall.
I still own qnd use mine daily, it feels better in hand than the slim and is built like a tank. Bought it in 2012 and it’s still running all original harware and no stick drift. Battery is concerningly good
My psp street has a really great screen. I have every psp model modded and the street is the one I take everywhere because it’s quite durable. Cheap feeling and loads of plastic, but that’s exactly what makes it durable for travel. Like a big ol dmg. It doesn’t have internet and I kinda like that, it has all the games I could ever want on it from ps1 and psp. Because I use it as my travel psp I’ve grown super attached to it, as a stock psp it’s horrible, but you can do a super big battery mod that utilises the umd drive spot, (you just glue the back on permanently and only play games from memory card) I found myself putting a couple of tiny totoro stickers on it and it feels like a good friend. Now getting a normal psp and putting on a glass lens, ips screen and larger battery is obviously better in every way shape and form, good bang for buck. The street screen should be way better than what you’ve got there which is a shame, it literally shared the same as the 3000 internals and screen specs from memory. I just think it’s like a neat cross over between a dmg and a psp. I fully agree though that it’s not worth the price in America but in Europe and Australia (pal countries) they’re pretty common and cheap if you know where to look. It’s become my favourite psp due to practicality, size and weight and like I said it’s fairly durable. If I could recommend one psp to someone who doesn’t have one it would be the psp go though now that you can expand the memory so much
I started watching this video by talking with the video: "Today we will look at a PSP you have probably never seen" Me: "except me, because i got one without WLAN and no one likes it, so it must be my PSP"
Still have and use my 13 years old psp street. Fully functional on all original parts, so I really can’t complain about the build quality, and I think it looks the best out of all the psp’s too!(limited editions excluded) The screen is imo the best out of all the non-GO models too, if you can get over the dimming when looking at it from underneath. It also feels more comfortable to hold than the slim 2000/3000 models to me due to the extra thickness. The only psp I like to use more is the Monster Hunter limited 3000
The psp for the streets was less than 100€ on sale you could even find it for like 50€ it was actually pretty decent for the price while the psp go/3000 were 150 or more
Not sure about this version, but my PSP 3000 started squeaking and I think it's just an age thing. I had to open the UMD cover and take off a plastic sticker covering the UMD drive motor near the bottom around the hinge. Once the sticker was off, I could take a q-tip with multi purpose oil and rub it into that motor area. There was a video on TH-cam that helped me figure it out. Not sure if that would work on this model though.
This was a fine psp for myself at least, quite quickly i modded it and put emulators on it, it was my favourite. Still got it somewhere at my parents place. Should look for it.
Tbf, a well-preserved PSP Street is the best PSP you can get for a reasonable price, especially in central/southern Europe. WiFi is outdated anyway, and the mono speaker isn't an issue, at least for me, since I play mostly with headphones.
Honestly, I absolutely love my PSP Street. Although the build quality is definitely cheaper, the full black, matte design to me is far more pleasing than the glossy fingerprint and scuff magnets of the other models.
Correction about the psp street (I opened one): The battery is not glued to the console, you can actually replace it but the process is more involved, because you have to take apart the whole back plate of the console, remove a sticker, remove a philips head screw and then you can swap it
Man, I always wanted a PSP. Parents got me a DS back then, which is enough. I have so many things that can run PPSSPP now that I dunno if it's worth trying to get one. They are pretty dang cool though.
It came out way before the ps vita, more along the end of the psp cycle. It was not cheaper than a normal psp, it was the same price. The psp remained at its normal retail price for years just like the ps2, which never went on sale with a notable discount.
if the psp has custom firmware it becomes worldwide and have no region if you enter the recovery menu you can shutdown the UMD that is no longer needed because games can run from the memory stick, each time i remember my phat psp died from age in 2016, my psp 2000 lasted until 2018 but it fell and have broken screen. After both giving me years of good service, i wish i can get my hands on a psp once again or rebuild my old ones that still have good motherboards
PSP has some good games to play even in 2024.....I have a modded PlayStation Vita with Adrenaline (Adrenaline is pretty much a full blown PSP for Vita)....but even just a few months ago I was playing GTA Vice City Stories, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Mortal Kombat (PSP ones, I do have the Mortal Kombat game for Vita as well), God of War games for PSP...i use my Vita to play more PSP games than I do to play Vita games....another note, PSP is in fact region free
I once had one that my mom found in a thrift store one time she wanted to flip things on FB Marketplace, it worked fine, but I had to regrease the worm gear in the drive because it is too squaky, after that the squeaking was mostly removed, but it is funny since it is a rare console in this continent, it sells at a higher price than other PSP models despite being inferior, but some collectors are into it just for completion sake
My friend had this while i had a 3000, we tried to play gt with eachother and always wondered why his never connected to wifi and didnt have a wlan switch
Yeah I already have a return queued up lol. I would’ve kept it if it wasn’t for that horrible umd noise. Probably an easy fix but I shouldn’t be having to fix that for what I paid
@@wilmanflores5772that’s actually not the case with this issue. You have to replace the whole piece that’s causing this noise and that requires you to take the whole PSP apart completely so it’s a lot more work than just lubing up the spinning mechanism lol it’s kinda ridiculous
Alot of people claimed the 1000 version was to heavy but every version after was made cheaper. It felt like cheap plastic and. The 1000 was super tough. It could get dropped and thrown and it would probably be ok. The 2000 version and after would crack, chip and the bottons would break easily
If you really want a cool PSP that not many people have heard of get a 3000 Monster Hunter Edition. It's the only 3000 that I know of that works with a 1000 battery (which was the better quality battery).
I remember seeing PSP Street for 1000 UAH in 2013 (like 120$), no wonder it was so popular. Even the cheapest smartphone of the time would cost more and provide worse gaming experience.

This was my first PSP and it had problems not long after purchase. I ended up buying a 3000 and had no problems
Correction about the psp street (I opened one): The battery is not glued to the console, you can actually replace it but the process is more involved, because you have to take apart the whole back plate of the console, remove a sticker, remove a philips head screw and then you can swap it
There are many older videos of the psp e1000. To say we've never heard of it is an overstatement.
Man, I always wanted a PSP. Parents got me a DS back then, which is enough. I have so many things that can run PPSSPP now that I dunno if it's worth trying to get one. They are pretty dang cool though.
me when I see that charger: finally a normal charger in a video!
It is region free, my friend has some games from Japan and they work perfectly fine.
It came out way before the ps vita, more along the end of the psp cycle. It was not cheaper than a normal psp, it was the same price. The psp remained at its normal retail price for years just like the ps2, which never went on sale with a notable discount.
6:28 “Yeah, this PSP Street? It’s not good.” *boom*
I absolutely love it😊
i actually really enjoy the look of this psp. i think it looks a lot cooler being matte plastic
"The PSP version you’ve NEVER heard of…"
meanwhile me owning this this and whole europe too
Strange that you think that glossy says premium, when I associate glossy with cheap. Matte finishes are nicer to me.
There’s a Geronimo Stilton game?! I used to love those books when I was a kid!
if the psp has custom firmware it becomes worldwide and have no region if you enter the recovery menu you can shutdown the UMD that is no longer needed because games can run from the memory stick, each time i remember my phat psp died from age in 2016, my psp 2000 lasted until 2018 but it fell and have broken screen. After both giving me years of good service, i wish i can get my hands on a psp once again or rebuild my old ones that still have good motherboards
The PSP-1000 is still the best model IMO. Kinda like the OG NDS, it's chunkier but it works for the ergonomics. Shame it has only half the RAM.
That thing was everywhere in Europe at the time, I hated how it felt in the hand.
Ong the Geronimo Stilton books went so hard in elementary.
NGL that sleek design with the matte black is smooth.
My friend had this while i had a 3000, we tried to play gt with eachother and always wondered why his never connected to wifi and didnt have a wlan switch
Let's just put it this way...
I hope the seller accepts returns, lol.
lol
Yeah I already have a return queued up lol. I would’ve kept it if it wasn’t for that horrible umd noise. Probably an easy fix but I shouldn’t be having to fix that for what I paid
Dude is not like is broken or something…..just lube the spinning mechanisms with some oil
@@wilmanflores5772that’s actually not the case with this issue. You have to replace the whole piece that’s causing this noise and that requires you to take the whole PSP apart completely so it’s a lot more work than just lubing up the spinning mechanism lol it’s kinda ridiculous
This is the “ We have psp at home “
@@BraydenBunch58 Sure does feel like one 🤣
@@BraydenBunch58 🤦♂
They're really common here in Australia too.
“The PlayStation console you never heard of” bro I have one 😂
The squicky drive means the rail of the laser needs some grease.
It's so crazy to think that there's so many different variations. It's so cool!
This was my first PSP, it's pretty whatever and kind of useless unmodded but I gotta appreciate it for getting me into PSPs
I had one in 2012 but it's without Wi-Fi/WLAN and i hated that. Now i still have PSP-3004.
I remember seeing this in magazines thinking that its such a weird design.
Alot of people claimed the 1000 version was to heavy but every version after was made cheaper. It felt like cheap plastic and. The 1000 was super tough. It could get dropped and thrown and it would probably be ok. The 2000 version and after would crack, chip and the bottons would break easily
The PSP 1000 feels like a powerhouse in comparison. It was $250 at release. Makes sense!
I had a psp when I was 10-13 back in 08-2011 or 2012 and I miss it I want one again so bad
in italy we all had psp street, the goat psp
Saw it in store shelves and known people who had it. I still have 3004 version.
If you really want a cool PSP that not many people have heard of get a 3000 Monster Hunter Edition. It's the only 3000 that I know of that works with a 1000 battery (which was the better quality battery).
as a european i remember that was my first handheld device and now i enjoy my ps vita. and yes it was the cheapest psp you could get
"the version youve never heard of"
me, who bought it as my first psp console & am playing it right now:
I remember seeing PSP Street for 1000 UAH in 2013 (like 120$), no wonder it was so popular. Even the cheapest smartphone of the time would cost more and provide worse gaming experience.
Psp Street Cost 99$ Brand New In india 😂 i still had one and Its Worth it
I just got my MIG switch cart for my Switch. Its insanely awesome.
Honestly i prefer the matte finish than glossy
The paper with "GARANTEE" written in it is the warranty paper. No Im not Russian, its a third language.
I have that PSP I’ve had it for the last 2 1/2 years it’s the PSP E1000 mine actually came from Russia with about eight games.
