    Excellent idea to use the cabinet that. My IKEA rep mentioned getting a custom cabinet made for this purpose because I have the dishwasher on the end as well. This looks like a good alternative..thanks

    How's that cut edge that you painted holding up next to the dishwasher? With the steam, that would make me nervous. Trying to match the paint perfectly so I can use wood doesn't sound fun either though.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So we sealed the sides with paintable caulk first to water proof it and then painted it same white as door frames. It’s holding up really well no issues so far.

    Thanks. However, as a homemaker, I hate having my DW side panel extending down to the floor, - because it gets damaged from mopping

    Very good video, saved it for when we do ours this summer. How big is your kitchen and how long did it take to complete the cabinets?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking forward to hearing about how your project went. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and subscribing to support the channel. Our kitchen is 11x10 ft it took us 4 days but we are working evenings after work. It took about 5 hours to put all the cabinets together by my self. Then about an hour for the rail system and once you have that your on the home stretch if all your cabinets are standard size. We had to wait for some additional cabinets so it took us 3 day to install all the cabinets and then another few hours to put on the doors and drawers after the counter top and backsplash were installed. But I think our size kitchen can be easily done in a weekend. Check out the cabinet install video if you have not already. It should give you and idea of how straight forward it is. They did a great job designing this hanging system.

    This is an awesome idea. Does your cabinet end up being 34 1/4 high, normal base cabinet height, after you added the support on the corners?? Thx.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the high would be leveled with the rest of the cabinets next to it as it gets attached to the rail on the wall which sets the hight. I hope that answers your question if not please let me know I’m always happy to help. Also please hit the like 👍 button on the video so it gets recommended to more folks like you looking for this info.

      @@DIYwithMAX, do you think I could do this with non IKEA cabinets. I have a pensulia that has the dishwasher on the end, but no wall behind it, its open, and the countertop will go out like a breakfast nook so i was thinking this idea might stabliize things?? Thx.

      Could I put those trim stips on the rear corners, like the front, so it sits down on the ground since mine is open in the rear??

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m sure you can but I would also secure the back once to the wall just to me safe so it does no move around on you. If you need a drawing of what I’m talking about please email me at DIYwithMax@gmail.com and I’ll email you a drawing of what I’m talking about.

    • @DIYwithMAX

      You can put them on the rear as well but I would secure the rear once to the wall as well not just to the cabinet. Please email me if you want to discuss further. I’m always happy to help brainstorm through these ideas. DIYwithMax@gmail.com

    What is the height of the inverted cabinet inside measurement (the vertical space inside the cabinet?
    I love this solution, but found that the thickness of the horizontal board is too thick to achieve this without increasing the height of the rail to allow the minimum measurement for the height of the dishwasher.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I remember correctly they are 30in high. I hope that helps. Make sure you check the feet of your dishwasher it may have been lifted to fit the old cabinets. If you mounted the rail at the hight recommend in the kitchen instructions you should be able to fit the dishwasher as we did. Thank you for the questions I’ll always happy to help. Great video! Where did you get the panels that reach the floor on the sides? I’m planning on buying the same base from ikea (sektion) except in brown. I can’t seem to find the cover panels like in your video.

    • @justinpees7966
      @justinpees7966 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found “Sinarp” cover panel which looks pretty close to the sektion brown color. It’s pretty expensive though. Did your cover panels cost more than the base cabinet?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much. I was able to order the panel by calling IKEA customer service. Sometimes they have access to parts that are not listed on the website. I believe it was 26x36 cover panel that we used. This is the link to it: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/foerbaettra-cover-panel-matte-anthracite-90470690/#content

      We did this kitchen almost 2 years ago. At that time all the cabinets you see in the video were $2500. I think we payed maybe $45 for the cover panel if I remember correctly. But I would like to point out that doing this your self saves you huge amounts of money compared to a professional install so if you have to pay extra few hundred dollars it’s probably worth it. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I’m always happy to help in anyway way I can. Just an FYI, neighbor did a very similar kitchen with a pro and it was 15k for very similar renovation. So don’t sweat the few extra hundred to do it right. I personally invest a percent of the savings from all my projects in to tools that let me leave up in my next project.

    • @justinpees7966
      @justinpees7966 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYwithMAX gotcha, I’ll start out without the cover panels first. Would it have been possible to cut the horizontal piece and metal supports from 30” to approx. 25.5” to fit the dishwasher snuggly? This would avoid having to install the 2x 3” front side panels. Just curious because I’m thinking of doing it that way. But I guess you did it your way so that you’d have panels extending down to the floor which gives a nicer finish.

    • @justinpees7966
      @justinpees7966 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m building mine as a standalone cabinet for my dishwasher. So I’m not very picky about standards. Also I would like to know if it would have been possible to install the top horizontal piece of wood upside down so that the holes won’t show and the top would have a smooth finish. In my case it would be my counter top haha

  • @JupiterThunder4
    @JupiterThunder4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just an FYI. I was hoping to pull of something similar with an Ikea Enhet base and a my dishwasher (23.9 inch width). The dishwasher would not fit into the interior width. Seems this was executed with the 30x 24 x 30 cabinet.

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct we did use a 30” cabinet because the 24 would not fit most dishwashers.

    The lower left front corner is not secured. One accidental kick and it will tweak out of place. It should be secured to the floor with a bracket. Thoughts?

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s secured from the back. You can see it in the computer render at 1:03 to 1:08. Also there are three inch screws from the top of the cabinet to the legs. With the weight of the counter top on it it’s not going anywhere. Definitely subscribe because if that changes I will definitely make a video about it and let you know the outcome.

    How much size of this dishwasher

    • @DIYwithMAX
      @DIYwithMAX  ปีที่แล้ว

      The dishwasher is standard 24 inches. The base cabinet we used was 30 inches wide but the trim side peace’s are cut to size on each side so it can fit any size unit you just make the side trim bigger or smaller. I hope that answers your question. Please let me know if I can help in anyway other way. Thank you for liking the video and subscribing to support the channel.
