It have been 46 years since part 1
I'm playing Darkest Dungeon 21
Apparently, "Gander (originally Pal, and also known as Sergeant Gander) was a Newfoundland dog who served as the mascot of the Royal Rifles of Canada during World War II." Explains the name and the soldier-esque flavour of the enemy!
The fact that the barricades present a problem that you need to switch around your build to work around (with cleaves, riposte, guard pierce, frontline tanking, etc) adds more variety and thought to gameplay and is overall GOOD design. It's just that in the context it's in, players aren't set up to think about it that way, just as another thing to chuck through that happens to be more of a pain to chuck through. It's an Ugly Duckling.
I don't want them to dumb Military encounters down to the level of gaunt or pillagers, I want them to add more new Road Battles that are unique, that require you to think outside your build and make use of your character's whole skillset. I want Red Hook to DOUBLE DOWN on the design philosophy of the Military encounters. Which they're probably not going to do, because I'm the only one who feels this way, and they tend to listen to feedback, lol
I agree with you, it’s just that with the way the fights are right now, they’re not very fun even if you *do* play around them.
@@eclecticspaghettiDon't forget endless amounts of bleed like holy shit
@@TheGunslinger44it's very obnoxious
33:30 I'd gladly give up MORE MORE if in the same patch Hastened Enemies gets removed.
You could see Shuffle being in heavy pain once he gets to the barricade and brigands. Idk what was RH drinking to design this fight, but my god even Fanatic was more fun to fight.
Barricades should apply 6 bleed to attackers with combo.
Weapon racks should have a 5% chance of adding a disease to attackers.
How to improve military faction? Have bounty hunter potentially show up as an elite/miniboss, but somewhat nerfed. Warlord can pay him more than your rickety stagecoach.
Bounthunter gets candles of hope as payment. Idk if Warlord have those to pay him but it would be an interesting idea!
@@supersentaimexicano1967 maybe if you have a stack of candles in your inventory then he appears? He would be cashing in on a phat stack of candles that way, and would also give people reason to collect candles late game.
"hopefully the next one doesn't take 4 months"
5 months later.
43:19 I noticed play out's sound effect being wrong! i even extracted the audio files and circled the missing sound effect with a big red marker and got a direct response from Chris saying they'll fix it. I'm glad Sammy is a fellow play out knight
I hope part 3 will come soon because these are probably my favorite videos on your channel
The Warlord faction visually speaking is very cool and I like that Red hook introduces features that aren't
super hard or nieche to experience.
But with that being said, I absolutely don't understand how Redhook thought 2 enemies was enough for a faction.
Don't get me wrong the Barricade and weapon rack ''CAN'' be interesting sometimes.
But IMO a stationary object isn't as fun to go up against as a regular enemy with actual moves.
I think this faction highlights a big problem when it comes to: DD2 and even DD1 enemy team compositions.
There just aren't enough enemies in the game.
I get that it's difficult to adding new things but it makes no sense how Redhook presents their enemy variety.
Gander is an enemy which I have seen TWICE.
Why not add that to the Tangled Faction to increase the replay value of that biome?
Or better yet, why not make Antiquarian ACTUALLY APPEAR FOR ONCE.
In my entire 200+ Hours on DD2, I have not seen Antiquarian ONCE.
How is that utilizing your assets to the best Redhook?
I personally think champion enemies are pointless, they're borderline new entire units but
they still desperatly try to cling on to their original counterpart.
WHY NOT JUST MAKE A NEW ENEMY ENTIRELY?
We wouldn't care if they used the same animations since we already have the Swordman and Spearman guys which basically are reskins from the story missions.
Redhook proved that they are able to repurpose enemies.
So why not do that to the other assets they have and make new enemies for us to enjoy?
Let me know if you agree or disagree with my take but I honestly wish Redhook would try to focus on adding more enemies or atleast
repurpose some enemies from the story missions.
The soldiers are really the only models from the shrine battles that make a lick of sense to be reused as enemies.
@@eclecticspaghetti I think Redhook could reuse the dying citizens from Lepers Shrine mission as some type of Gaunt enemy. Also the Nun in Runaway’s shrine mission could be reused as some type of monster.
Imagine Redhook adds the Arbalest or Musketeer as an champion enemy of the army faction
@@supersentaimexicano1967 I would cry XD
@@Hunko115 Funny that you mention that, because the model for those dying citizens actually is reused from a Gaunt enemy cut very early in development - it was also called a Leper. Localization files on launch had the names for it and another cut enemy (from the Fanatics faction, the Spearing Reaver - it doesn't have a model, but there is a placeholder artwork for it, where it looks like it would have been a size 2 enemy) as well as their attack names - to my knowledge the Gaunt Leper had a similar effect to the playable Leper's Ruin ability on it, where it dealt more damage the more damage it took.
I personally think it'd interesting if as an enemy it was able to take DOTs and negative tokens off other enemies and apply them to a targetted Hero. Not dangerous in an outward "big damage/DOTs" fashion but in a more indirect way, along with acting as a support debuff remover.
Suffle please man I have rewatched these too many times, I getting desperate for part 3
Lol I'll talk to sammy
@@ShuffleFMplease please please! It's such good and interesting content.
1:29:38. Yes, happened with me and its exactly as you described it, he breaks the barricade guard and only he guards his soldier.
This is some of my favorite content on the channel!
When you get one more heal round off only to get a disease from a DUMB basic gaunt enemy >:l
Still better than getting hit by enemy crit when having Dodge plus and they have blind.
Thumbnail goes pretty hard ngl
41:42 is Gander region locked to the Tangle, and that’s why he’s so rare?
Nvrmnd you had the same thought.
I have had Gander spawn in back to back waves :)
This was great. ty
You guys really talked about the spiders for 20 mins
The little cuties lol
HELL YEAH PART 2!!!!!!
just looking at ganders "jaw of the battalion" and realizing, this move could just obliterate you, if it high rolls and crits, makes me happy he is that rare :D
and i fought him twice :3
to be honest, i would be stressed if someone tossed a spear in my general direction :D
Its official, some planks of reinforced wood is thee best enemy
The collected vestal is an easy F because she makes the fight a run ender for any DOT team
I have gotten the thraphezhedron drop, no need to have all 3 heads. I guess its just rare?
We are so back
Is there a part 3?
Not yet
Yooo let's goooo 🎉
Do you prefer darkest dg 2 than 1?
🎉
Most of the enemies arent fun to fight in this game compared to the First One unfortunatly
Naw enemy design is way more interesting in this game. The fact that these guys can have such long and interesting conversations over each of them is proof enough to show how much care and talent goes into designing them.
People probably like DD1 enemies more because your teams are so good at preventing the enemies from playing the game lol
Cool to see shuff dedicate his time to such a bad game
I do not envy the situation that the algorithm has put him in.
For a game that's "bad" it sure works as the foundation his channel is based on.
Just STFU and go play roblox or something
