The man then said to me, I'm just being friendly, why are you so annoyed!! I then said to him. I know what you are doing, this is a child you are talking to and she is not related to you. Why are you talking to her and not all the other people in this carriage if you are so friendly? Leave this girl alone. I had to get off at the next stop I had an appt and asked her to get off with me, she wouldn't but I was so worried about it that I found a member of staff and told them to stop the train at the next stop because a girl is on danger. He did it straight away. I then gave a description of the girl and the man, which carriage I was in and what happened. He then said they have stooped the the train and were looking for the girl off and the man. I was really shaken and worried about the girl. I don't know what happened but they did take me seriously.

I’m an older woman. I have intervened twice in situations where men were harassing a young woman. Both times the men then started insulting me because of my age and lack of appeal to them, and that’s putting it politely.
There is no need for harassment of young women, but you have to be real careful who you challenge in those situations.. some of these men are Monsters.

That's exactly what my friends who travelled from UK and Norway to Israel said. This was between 3 to like 5yrs ago for both of them. They both said Israelites had the worst sense of entitlement they've almost experienced in any nation, and they talked like Palestinians were less than human. They both said Palestinians were polar opposite. These friends of mine who don’t even know each other said Palestinians were very kind, polite and generous even when they don't have much.
2 of my friends, one French the other British who don't know each other said the same thing. My French friend would go to the West Bank volunteering for an aid agency about 20 years ago, the other raises money in the UK for Gazan schools.

About forty years ago on a radio programme like yours , a listener rang in to say she was in an overcrowded morning train carraige in London and witnessed a couple sitting together covered only by a light blanket openly making love ,and no one showed a blind bit of interest .
