Your background is very cool. Looks like something from the inside of a castle. Zelda link to the past is so good. The og pokemon games are so great. Great gaming memories.
You've quickly and easily become one of my favorite TH-camrs. I really like your sort of low-key style, and it helps it's a refreshment from the typical loud and "I got to have a bunch of flashy edits to keep the viewers' attention" style that is very common of so many others. I love how we can feel that you have such a real and genuine passion for gaming. It's really wholesome. Because of this I've watched nearly all of your videos, and am always looking forward to new uploads. I hope as your channel continues to grow you don't fall into the traps I've watched far too many other TH-camrs stumble into, too many become annoying, self centered, entitled, and rude as their channels hits high subscriber milestones. I hope you just continue to be true to yourself (of course this doesn't mean learning and growing is not to be welcomed). On the flip side, if you ever feel too drained, burnt out, or have any other reason, don't feel like you owe us new videos. Take care of yourself first and foremost. I wish you the best as your channel continues to grow 👍.
Thanks! Yeah it'll be interesting to see where things continue going with the channel. I don't intend to ever go full time but it's been a nice hobby & way to connect with others who share similar a mindset towards games/collecting :)
Yes... exactly! I much prefer these videos of real people to those flash cut cut cut fast-talking guy desperately trying to keep your attention type videos. I'm really new here, but loving these videos, and along with Food4Dogs, orbalology is rapidly becoming one of my favourite gamer TH-camrs... you can feel the love of gaming in both channels. I was a Commodore 64 kid myself, but my partner (who is also a huge gaymer) found and bought me the original versions of Ultima IV and Ultima V... and if that wasn't enough, the Persona Q 3DS console. We both love video games (he was more into the Nintendo side of things, which I didn't get into until the Wii). I love it when orbalology says she'll get to playing certain games one day. My one weakness is buying collector's editions and merch... I have such an enormous backlog of games that I don't think I have enough life left to play them all at the rate that I'm playing. He's moving to be with me soon (long distance relationship of two years) in Hawaii, and we are excited to merge our game collection (there will be a ton of duplicates) and come up with a really elegant way of showing them off that is humidity controlled so that they'll stay in good condition against the killer humidify of Hawaiian life. We met in an LGBT gamer site and he messaged me out of the blue and it's been wonderful since. Seven more weeks until he moves here!
@@vorpal22 That's a great story! I didn't even know there was a Persona Q 3DS console, that's amazing he got that for you! I've watched Food4Dogs too! She's really awesome as well.
What a lovely video to start the day with! 😊 I'm glad you were able to find that beautiful copy of A Link to the Past! It must be a wonderful feeling to be reunited with such a special game from your past 🥰 Also, I think the lack of manuals in modern releases is one of the saddest things. When I was a kid, I read my Grandia II manual so often that it eventually fell apart 😅 They're not only interesting for story and character descriptions, artwork, etc. but are also really helpful references! I often find myself having to google small things like 'What does this symbol mean?' or 'What does this stat do in this game?' and I wish I could just flick through a manual to find the answer 😪
It was such an indescribable feeling! Even looking at the box sitting on my shelf right now is giving me all the warm and fuzzy feelings 🥰 I agree, I often referenced the manuals too as a convenient way to look up things! It's sad how we're expected to just rely on the internet for most answers nowadays 😭
I love hearing stories about how people got into the things they love, whether it's video games, sci-fi, whatever! It's like each of our "secret origins". And of course, recalling those days of childhood when life was seemingly so much simpler is always fun. And count me in as somebody who really misses the instruction booklets too. I think it's kind of funny that back in the day when there were so many fewer buttons, you were still given instructions as to how they all worked. But today, when there are so many more buttons (and button combinations), we must commit them all to memory! Congrats on hitting the 10k mark and I look forward to many more videos from you!
Origin stories can be a lot of fun! And that is a true irony - games nowadays are too bogged down by multiple tutorials and relying on looking things up online. Makes me a bit wistful for the simpler times :) And thank you!!
Congrats on 10K emily! Well deserved, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck on your journey to getting your childhood games back. Onward to 20K!!
I've recently started to do the same. Nostalgia and Saudade are such powerful emotions. I really cant explain the feeling of playing the old ps1 favs like Crash Warped or CTR, its just awesome.
this is so charming! As someone who's been collecting retro games for almost 15 years, it warms my heart to see someone so passionately into it for the same reasons I got into it! Enjoying games from your childhood or discovering new experiences and cherishing them is what it's all about! :) It can be easy to get a little jaded while collecting this stuff, so thank you for reminding me on why I love this hobby so much. I hope you enjoy the journey in finding your bucket list, nothing feels quite as good as finding a good deal on a game that means something to you!
Congratulations on 10K subscribers, Emily! 😊 You truly deserve it, and I’m so grateful to have seen your channel grow. Here’s to 20K and beyond! ❤ Keep being yourself.
Love that you are collecting for Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance 💕💕 I recently received my Analogue Pocket and have been playing many of my original GBC and GBA games including all of the Zelda games! Luckily I still have the original boxes and manuals from back then in very good condition! Collecting cib for GB is such a headache. I really want to add more cib games to my GB collection but it's just soooo expensive 😅 The Castlevania and Sonic Advance games are my favorites in my GBA collection 💕💕💕
Oh that's great you have a lot of your original collection CIB! But yeah I can't think of many games I'll be able to purchase CIB at the current prices, I had made an exception for ALTTP 😂 And nice, I'll have to look into those two GBA games :)
Your voice is very calming. I'm fairly new to your channel, but I love listening to someone re-collect some of their childhood games. I can definitely tell you're passionate. GBA was my first handheld. I didn't have a large collection, but I had Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Pinball, Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3), Minish Cap, and a few of those Pokemon video cartridges. Don't really play my GBA much these days, but still remember the fond memories of playing these in the backseat of a car while on road trips. Got nauseated along the way at times, but definitely worth it in the end. Hope you can make it to 20K subscribers!
When nostalgia hits, it hits hard 😆 I bought some games i used to play on the VC for 3ds but still for me having to physically collect something is much more rewarding 😆.
When I first started collecting about 13 years ago, I made a list of all my childhood games that I enjoyed but no longer had. The list also included games I was fairly confident I would like but never got to play. As you can imagine, the list ended up being fairly long. It took me many years to finally cover everything, but once I did it was a really satisfying feeling. Game collecting is super fun! Although definitely too expensive these days.
Oh nice! Glad to hear you were able to obtain so many great titles. Retro collecting can certainly be expensive but like you said it's often very satisfying 😄
Randomly stumbled across your channel. Love the enthusiasm for the hobby and the level of detail you put into what you collect. Def got a few bits of jealous of.
Nostalgia is right. I felt that when I saw you hold up that Zelda box. Also, I rarely hear anyone talk about Final Fantasy Tactics Advance but I enjoyed that game immensely. And The Golden Sun was the best RPG I played on the system. Gotta love these trips down memory lane.
Great video, Emily! Such a fun thing to do - nostalgia is so powerful!!! I have the same Game Boy and it was one of my first systems too and I played SOOOO much Pokemon Blue on it!
As someone trying to collect as much physical media as I can, not so much for the collectors value but just to have comfort that I have the thing I paid for; this makes me happy to watch.
I wish you all the success, Emily. I am so glad you are enjoying your entry into retro collecting. I hope it brings you the same joy it has me! Onward to 50k!
I'm really glad you're finding this such a helpful outlet, and thanks for sharing it back with everyone :) I'm just over 40, and with all of the friends I've had over the years (and even the ones I have now) I've found that it can be really easy to lose the people (or even just a single person) who really listen to you, and some people struggle to ever find that again. When you're younger you might have had a friend who also liked the things you did and you could geek out for hours about them, but time / school / relationships can really push that all to the side and before you know it you haven't had but a few discussions about the things you're passionate about in months/years/decades! Good on you for taking action, and ending up all the happier because of it. I hope you always find a way to maintain this enthusiasm, and drive to communicate and teach out what you know about your passions in life!
Yeah I've experienced similar things when it comes to keep in contact with friends and changing interests. That's one great thing YT and social media in that you can connect with more like minded folks all over the globe :) And thanks! I hope this outlet and my hobbies continues being just as rewarding for me for years to come 😄
Congratulations on 10k. I preordered the analog pocket about a year ago and I am still waiting for it. I finished collecting the games that wanted for the gameboy and GBA. I am thinking of selling most of my games on GBA and gameboy I found my favorites and I don’t need the rest. I am buying exclusives games for the 3ds that are from Japan and Europe and some are rising in price it all started with me just buying dragon quest 11.
Thank you! Yeah I hear the wait for the Analogue Pocket is a long one, so I'm not expecting mine to arrive anytime soon - hopefully they'll be able to speed up the manufacturing and whatnot 😅
Came back to this video because I finally ordered an analogue pocket and wanted to see how someone else approached collecting (despite prices and availability) it’s nice to know getting the loose cart can still be a great way to collect, esp if you’re planning to actually play So cool to see a link between worlds got you back into gaming too (same here 😭). I grew up with Pokémon red and silver, and the minish cap. I recently played links awakening dx on NSO and absolutely loved it, so definitely a lot of overlap there. I hope you’ve been able to find a nice way to display and keep the games, the Etsy 3d printed stand is a great suggestion, thank you!
Wow haha one of the only games that I have from my childhood and it was a game that had a huge impact on me was also Oracle of Ages! What a surprise when you showed it! I have it displayed in my living room! It doesn't have the best reputation amongst Zeldas but I love it and hold on to it dearly!
The idea of recollection of my gamecube games will never happen and I'm content with that, although I noticed I hold a preference for physical media. Congrats on the continued success!! The content you provide and interactions with all of us really make you stand out and I wish you nothing but the best!
GameCube games are difficult to collect these days, so I don't blame you! It's great to have so many GC titles starting to get remastered recently though! And thank you ☺️
Congrats on the 10k! I used to keep every box for every GBA game I had. at one point I had drawer in my dresser that was full of them. Unfortunately, they got left behind in a move one year and I swear farther away I get from that time the more I kick myself for not checking my attic, haha. I know stuff for both FE games, Fire Red and F-zero among others.
Congrats on 10k! I began recollecting GameCube games from childhood back in 2016 and finished most of what I wanted by 2019. Really glad I did because I would not be buying them now with current prices. I've become a lot more picky now with my retro game collecting, but I'm very happy with my collection. Thanks for sharing your collection. There is so much nostalgia here.
Thank you! And I'm glad to hear you've been ablet to finished most of your GameCube collecting. Retro collecting can certainly be a slippery slope but I think it'll be a fun side collection for me to slowly expand on 😄
This is such a beautiful idea, I love how you still have remnants of your gaming childhood. Like you, I sold and traded most of the games I grew up with but there are a few that I still own and they’re mostly the early generation Pokémon games with Red/Blue and Gold/Silver. I’m so glad that I did and somehow kept the manuals for Red and Silver as well. Congratulations on getting Silver and that boxed Zelda! Hope you’re able to get the others you’re looking for but all in due time. Both Golden Sun games are solid, fun times! Always loved Camelots sprite work. Congratulations on 10K as well! 😊
Thank you Cesar! My brother & I shared games back in the day so most of the Nintendo stuff sadly got traded into Gamestop (mostly to fund PS2 & Xbox 360 games 😅). But I'm glad a few things remained untouched & I'm looking forward to filling back the holes in my childhood collection. And also picking up some cool titles like the Golden Sun games to experience for the first time :)
congrats! great choices all around. my childhood was all around the OG Gameboy and super NES! I'm currently just trying to collect the games I once had but you're right, it's a challenge. keep up the great work!
Genuinely a gem of a channel on this platform and your growth reflects that in spades! Looking forward to seeing this collection of yours unfold, specially with such a sentimental value attached to it, it will be amazing to see :) Congrats on 10k, and heres to 100k+! As always Emily, stellar work :)
Thanks Mike! It's always a great feeling to grab hold of those sentimental items in life, and I'm glad to have rekindled my love for my first ever gaming systems once again :)
The gameboy advance will always be the most memorable handheld for me. Being able to play snes quality games and better plus the backwards compatibility was a big deal for me back then. It has such a great library as well.
Congrats on 10k. Been really enjoying your videos, learning some new things, and anything fire emblem. Always stoked to see another collector. You're right, it is very hard, so good invya for sticking with it. Especially collecting jrpgs/rpgs. It's ruining my days hahahaha Good luck in the quest to find the childhood gold and looking forward to future videos.
Retro collecting is something else. I'm fortunate in that for the most part I managed to keep most of the games I had as a child. It also helped that I was into roleplaying games back in the day so I avoided a lot of the higher prices later on reacquiring games had I lost or sold them. I've come to feel pretty disheartened at retro collecting in general though. For the things that I do hope to eventually pick up.. pretty much all of them are at least $100 or more. Often games costing $200 or $300+ as well. It's one of the many drawbacks of being a CIB collector. It's why for the most part I've switched over to modern/past gen stuff. Games you can still find at retailers. Stuff that goes on sale, etc. To me it doesn't feel like a compromise. It's nice that if I spend $200 I can end up with half a dozen fantastic games instead of just one SNES game that has the box and manual. I still keep my eyes open for good deals on retro stuff but it's few and far between. Maybe it's my particular interests. Either way, hopefully you are able to recollect all of your childhood copies without much heartache. It helps that you have some of the manuals already if you're going for complete copies. It's more flexibility in allowing you to pick up a game/box lot and piece together a complete copy anyway.
Thankfully I'm mostly just looking for loose carts for the GB systems! I definitely can't do CIB at the current prices 😅 I think finding whatever balance that works for you is best! I've been collecting a lot of modern/last gen games these last few years so I felt it was time to start working in a few nostalgic games back into my collection. Definitely won't be going super deep into retro collecting because I still really enjoy modern/last gen collecting :)
Those manual looked amazing, even came in color. I can never afford to collect retro games, but i am trying to get a physical copy of all modern games I intend on playing, or even just seem interesting to me, because i believe someday physical games too will be a thing of the past the same way game manuals are today
Hey, you're in the big leagues now! I think it's your duty to collect retro so we can all live vicariously through you! I definitely go through phases of collecting, which seems to be what you do, too, going from DS to GB. Right now I seem to be focusing more on figures, but it wouldn't take more than an evening on eBay to make me start fawning over a system.
Oh gosh 😅😂 I like to hunt around for deals whenever I can! I happened upon a great listing for the ALTTP and this whole rabbit hole sort of spiraled from there lol.
Great to have those colorful Game Boy manuals. It is so rare to find boxes or manuals for Game Boy. It is usually just loose game in the wilds. My first Pokemon game for Game Boy color was Pokemon Blue.
Congrats on reaching 10k Subscribers, Emily! Very well deserved. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos and seeing your collecting journey. Also, congrats on the Analog Pocket pre-order! It'll definitely be worth the wait. Trust me, nothing can prepare for you when you first boot up that little machine and see how beautiful games look on it! 🙂
Watching your videos has really made me want to start collecting for my favorite older console! I'm starting to collect for the PSP now, visited a retro game store near me and started off with the Final Fantasy 7 advent children PSP movie. Once I save up a bit more I'll splurge on my favorite variant, the Monster Hunter 3 PSP 3000 Console. Thanks for your videos and congrats on the 10K!
Oh yay! Glad to hear you've gotten back into PSP collecting. I really need to start buying a few games before prices get insane myself 😅 And thank you :)
yayy! Congratz for 10k subs! I'm pretty sure that the channel will reach 100k pretty fast! And about that Mana games, i feel that every Mana game is just beautiful. The most impressive one, for me, was the Legend Of Mana, but it's psx though (i would say that the ambience is great, but the game is a bit hard to swallow), you should try just to contemplate the scenery, and i think a bunch of MMO KRPG got inspired by the style.
Thank you! Haha, we'll see what happens 😂 And that's great to hear about the Maba games! I have the backwards compatible PS2 so I may have to look into picking up some PSX titles someday 😄
Congratulations again on 10,000! Very much deserved, you're such a positive force in the game collecting space and I've really enjoyed getting to know you these past several months. Can't wait to see how things look when you get to 20k! It's funny, I more or less missed most of the GBA era. I HAD one, but it came out as I was nearing the end of high school, and most of the heavy hitters I overlooked. So my GBA collection at this point is modest, but, especially with the Pocket, I'm eager to build it up. I'll be curious to see what you recommend as your channel progresses.
Thanks Branden! It's been such a treat to get to know you better these last few months as well :) Oh I'm now curious about which games you've picked up over the years for the system! My childhood collection mostly consisted of the popular games at the time, but there are so many neat JRPGs I missed out on that I'm hoping to snag at some point.
Congratulations on 10k! I don't envy anyone who is trying to build a collection now. Thankfully I built mine in my twenties, and while I probably spent too much back then, those prices were nothing compared to today.
Thank you! And it sounds like you dodged a couple bullets by starting fairly early lol. I'm not too sure how extensive this collection will grow, but I'm glad to finally start reacquiring at least some old favorites :)
If you want a good way to display your gameboy games you could try one of those tiered makeup display racks. I bought two of them for my games after seeing someone on TH-cam use them for their game collection. Their meant for things like nail polish, but they work well for gameboy games too. You can find them pretty cheap on Amazon.
I've seen a lot of people use nail polish stands which are a great option too! I'm not too sure how large my collection will end up growing to, but I've been looking into those tea organizer boxes at the moment :)
Congratulations on that very clean CIB of Link to Past GBA. I actually bought a CIB of the SNES version recently and sent it to CGC for grading. Not to resell but to encapsulate my childhood and to make the copy official/authentic since it is my favorite game of all time. Now it is displayed nicely on my shelf. I’ve actually spent over $5000 this past year rebuying all my GBC, GBA, SNES favorites. My only regret is that I didn’t start slower and bought only CIB or better. Now I am slowly working toward upgrading my loose copies so I am spending more money in the long run. I hope your journey to getting back these older games go well and that you’ll pick up great games you have fond memories of at great prices. As for the analogue pocket. I pre-ordered one 8 months ago and I still haven’t received it. So good luck with that. You should also look into getting the dock
Glad to hear you also have this game for the SNES CIB :) Yeah I was considering trying to go slowly and hold out for the Game Boy CIB copies but it just feels so out of reach right now. And honestly I feel like it'll be a struggle to keep up with new releases, last gen releases I missed out on, while also trying to fit in expensive retro collecting so I settled for a bit of a compromise. This may or may not change eventually, but I'm glad to have started nevertheless collecting for the Game Boy systems :) And yeah I have no expectations it'll be arriving anytime soon, hoping for December but we'll see😅 I keep hearing a lot of people complaining about the dock and how they're worried about breaking the plug when taking the system in and out of it.
Great video! I didn't know that Link to the Past was combined with the 4 Swords game. I'm old school. Yup, I had an Atari and an NES as a kid. Anyway... Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is available for free on your phone. I've downloaded it every time I've replaced my phones. It stays true to the original game and throws in new surprises along the way. It's almost like having the original in your hands. When it comes to old games, I'm sure you're aware of them all, and considering that, I can only recommend 5 RPGs and 2 other games from the SNES that created the Metroidvania genre... Super Metroid and Super Castlevania 4... Final Fantasy 6. Secret of Mana. Secret of Evermore. Mario RPG. And, of course, the SNES grail- Chrono Trigger.
congrats on 10K! I just discovered your channel recently and it's been a fun cozy good time the interesting thing is that I was born well after the peak of the NES era, but after getting one from a thrift store when I was 13 it became the beginning of my obsession with retro collecting, and the NES is still my favorite to collect for (I also love collecting Wii games since they still pretty cheap, compated to GC at least!)
Thank you!! I never got to play the NES back in the day but it's always been a system that looked pretty cool with a solid library. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to try one out 😅
This one spoke to me so much. I would say 90% of my collecting is rebuying games that I traded in to GameStop back in the day. I've been very lucky that a lot of the games I'm looking for have not skyrocketed in price. My PS1 collection I just finished a year ago or so. Wii needs about 3 games, PS2 is 5 or so. Gameboy.... that one's a bit of a mess and is gonna take some work to get back 😅
Haha, yeah I guess we all have to start from somewhere 😅 It's really unfortunate looking back on the trading in practices many of us went through and how that was often the only way to play new games as kids. I've been contemplating picking up more PS2 games too and while most of the games I played as a kid are not that expensive right now (and thankfully I have most of my childhood favorites for the system still), it's those niche JRPGs that I never got to experience and look really cool that would really do me in 🙈
@@orbalology Oh I completely understand why I traded in those games but I'm still disappointed at my past self for doing it lol. The "games you missed" are always a slippery slope though. I thought about collecting some GameCube titles too that I never had and was shocked at the prices for some of those. Like even the multiplatform games can be double the cost of their PS2 counterparts.
After watching a few of your videos I think we had almost the same childhoods lol all of your favorite games are the same as mine when growing up too! And the way you collect things and the things you do collect it’s like I’m watching a female version of myself! And awesome collection too you have some cool stuff!
Thanks Mandy! I carry similar sentiments, especially with all the games my brother & I traded in the early days 😭 But I hope you can reacquire some of your favorite childhood games again too :)
great work on hitting 10k subscribers 😁! i feel like gameboys/handhelds have been some of the most formative gaming experiences for people, so it's super interesting for you to share some of your memories and thoughts surrounding them!
Game boy color is also my first console ever (who could guess that given my username) and I feel the same as you, although my first owned Zelda was Wind Waker, I certainly share with you the passion of discovering Game boy games and dealing with their manuals and stuff. Great nostalgic video.
Congrats on the 10k and keep up the great work. If you're driving into gba games, I do recommend getting a gb operator for the main reason of easily making backups of save files and then the added feature of allowing you to play on your pc.
@orbalology Also, the Analogue Pocket is well worth the wait. I would totally wait a year again if i had to. And if you got the dock, you can make it like a Switch for all the older Nintendo systems with all the stuff Analogue has done for it via fpga cores.
I use to take the game manuals to school to tide me over while I wasn't able to play the game. I have an AP and the thing I love the most, even more than the great screen is how well the controls work, I was able to complete Super Mario Land with few deaths due to both the fidelity of the screen and responsiveness of the controls.
Congrats on your success! For myself my childhood systems are the NES and SNES. And I think most people here reading this would be aware already of the ludicrous prices those games can reach. So sadly I have decided not to re-buy those games from my childhood, but I wish you the best of luck finding those titles that mean a lot to you.
Thank you! And I totally understand not wanting to go down this expensive rabbit hole! Let's hope that we'll continue to get more cool remasters & ports in the future of our past favorites :)
@@orbalology I feel that is the best of both worlds. It introduces a newer generation to classic titles and it allows people like me to play those games, either remastered/remade or as a collection on newer consoles without paying a hefty price.
That’s awesome, I did the exact same thing when I left military service. I bought a bunch of Nintendo games from snes/n64/gba and ps1. I only wish I got more before the prices got outrageous. Hope you get some more great nostalgic games!
Thanks! Ah yeah the prices have been a bit intimidating for a lot of these, though thankfully most are not *too* expensive (yet) for loose copies. I'm hoping that going about this collection slowly will help me find some decent deals and not have to over pay too much 😅
Never had a Gameboy or GBA as a kid but both systems look like they have lots of awesome games. I have also been trying to collect games from my childhood, this past year I've picked up both resident evil 3 nemesis and tales of symphonia for the GameCube. Can't wait to see your game shelf and congrats again on 10k!
Those are some great GameCube pickups! I never had a GameCube back in the day but I keep hearing how much the system meant to a lot of folks. It's too bad how expensive so many of the titles are starting to get though 😅 And thank you, I'm really excited to start displaying everything soon :)
Very happy you got one of your fave games evaaaar. My fave console to collect for is CIB gba games, especially japanese gba games CIB! My fave boxed game is Link's Awakening for original gameboy, and old nintendo strategy guides! Maybe look into getting some guides too! That woukd be fun! ❤
Thanks for another great and relatable video! Gameboy Color was also my first console and my first game was Pokemon Red. I got Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Pokemon Gold soon after. It was really cool to hear you talk about Zelda and Pokemon since those are the games I spent the most time growing up with. I spent so many hours playing Pokemon and buildinig my team. Cyndaquil was a great choice and also the starter that I chose and kept on my team at all times. I still have all my games and Gameboy systems stored in a box, and like you, I also saved a few of the game manuals. I know you aren't into Pokemon as much anymore but, despite all the negative reviews, I think the newest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are great games. Can't wait to see what other games for the Gameboy you pick up in the future!
It's cool that we both grew up with similar games (just the different variants haha). I really want to try Scarlet/Violet sometime, just waiting to see if they'll release a physical with the DLC like they did for Sword/Shield (but if not I want to get a revised cart after they release the upcoming patches 😄)
@@orbalology Tomorrow is Pokemon Day so Nintendo will have a bunch of Pokemon related announcements. Hopefully we hear something about the patches and DLC. Everyone is speculating they will release the Pokemon Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games on the Switch which would be awesome! And also convenient way to replay them 😀
I'm happy you were able to pick up some of your older games. I'm thankful I never got rid of my old games because of how the market is for older games. I have so many versions of a link to the past it was definitely one of my favorites too. Happy 10 k
Oh you lucked out being able to keep ahold of your older games! My brother & I shared games back in the day so most of our Nintendo stuff got traded in to Gamestop while I was away in college I think 😅
@@orbalology Oh wow I would have been upset. The few games me and my siblings shared we divvied up before I moved out. The others are my moms and she still has then to this day.
I likewise gave away or lost to time most of the games from my childhood. I did manage to recover my original copies of Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy IX, and Monster Rancher 2 for PS1. I haven't started collecting for PS1 and don't know if I will... Great video :) I loved seeing the original manuals. I used to read and re-read game manuals when I couldn't play games.
Thank you, glad to hear you enjoyed this one. While most of my childhood Nintendo collection got traded in/lost I'm glad to have most of my PS2 games at least. I've been debating whether to dip into that console yet, but it's probably best to take things one step at a time lol 😅
Congratulations on the sub milestone. I'm glad you're getting into retro stuff, Gameboy and GBA some of my favorite to collect for. I can thank your channel for getting me to collect more for the 3DS though :)
Congrats on 10K subscribers Emily! Such a huge accomplishment in such a short period of time. Looking forward to seeing how your collection and channel continues to grow 😄
congrats on the 10k subs, you deserve it and even more subs. as someone who also has many memories playing the GBA as a kid it was fun watching you talk about your nostalgia with the GBA. i'm excited to see what GBA games you end up getting, my dream games to get would probably be superstar saga or zelda the minish cap.
Thank you!! I really appreciate it :) I'm really excited to see which games I'll be picking up too! Minish Cap is high up on my list because it's one of the handheld Zelda titles I've never played 😊
Congratulations on 10k subscribers! Good luck on your retro gaming collection! I wish I still had my gameboy SP and all the games we had. So much nostalgia!!!
Thank you!! I always wanted to pick up an SP for the cool compact form factor (& backlite screen!). Maybe one of these days I'll find one to play around with 😆
My first handheld was the gameboy dmg. Only had a handful of games but played Wario land the most tho..until pokemon came out. Upgraded to the gba later on and was still very much occupied playing pokemon yellow. Hundreds of hours of playing, leveling up my team and having all of my favorite pokemon. The amazement and utter excitement when I found out I could use my own pokemon in pokemon stadium on nintendo 64. Such a unique time that it truly is one of those saying where you had to be there to know. Once I started really playing what the gba had to offer I realized that as far as my most memorable handheld games it holds the top spot. Games like Golden Sun kept me glued to my gba for hours. The gba also was unique in the way that for the first time we were seeing actual games that appeared on the nes and snes being ported to a handheld. I ultimately decided to do an blacklight screen mod and case swap for my game boy advance.
I agree! Those days were such a unique time to grow up in. I'm tempted to get ahold of another GBA to do the IPS screen mod (so to keep my childhood system intact). I have a feeling I'll get a little impatient waiting for my Analogue Pocket to arrive so it may be a fun summer project or something to explore :)
Recollection childhood games is a great hobby. Especially for me actually owning the game and not renting them at blockbuster!😂 But getting game boy, gba, n64 games completed in box is super pricey but having a game in the original box makes the game feel more special! Keep up the great work and congrats again for 10k well deserved!🎉
Thanks!! My brother & I rented quite a few games back in the day too (though mostly for the PS2) I've been thinking of picking up as well. Maybe someday I'll start to dip more into that system too, haha.
Thank you so much!! The Game Boy era was truly such a fantastic one for gaming. I've only played the Switch remake for Link's Awakening but I've been looking into picking up a loose copy of the DX version :)
The one GB game I remember playing was Pokemon Red. It was originally my older brother's game and game system. He did give it to me as a birthday present which sadly I was upset about when I first got it not realizing how much I would appreciate it later. It was some time later where I was able to pick up a copy of both Gold and Silver but the battery on Gold was dead so didn't save. I then moved onto the GBA and GBA SP picking up all of Gen 3 Pokemon games as well as a few others. Out of the systems I bought on my own which I really appreciated was the original DS (yes the big flipping over dual screen version) as well as eventually the 2DS. I didn't pick up the 3DS version because my eyes have issues with 3D stuff so figured 2DS would be cheaper. I'm also a big fire type fan for Pokemon and almost always use a fire starter with my games. I do suggest getting into the Golden Sun games. My experience with them is the DS version Dark Dawn which would be #3 in the series. A couple other of my GBA games are marble madness and Mario Kart Super Circuit. I want to say Super Circuit is either the first or second in the Mario Kart line. How many times have you visited Vintage Stock or a store like it? Often times they have the much older games but like you said, having the box with them is a rare thing.
I too had GBC (the special pikachu edition!) as my first ever game system, then GBA... the same model as you. Felt like I had lost most, if not all, of these systems and the games... but this inspired me to dig around my parents' house and see if I can salvage anything. Would love to find the Lufia III cartridge and its manual in particular~ 10:26 bit of correction, the one that has PSP remake is the first FF Tactics originally for the PS, the FF Tactics Advance shown here hasn't been rereleased yet in any capacity (they really should tho, hopefully in 2D-HD like you said).
Oh I hope you can uncover some treasures in your search! Ah ok, thanks for clarifying this point! I keep getting all the FF Tactic variations mixed up 😅 FF Tactics Advance is relatively cheap for the cart so I had assumed it was re-released but I guess that's more reason to try to get ahold of a copy now :)
Since I am disabled with Cerebral Palsy and can only use one hand, the GB/GBA were one of the first consoles that made me think about how I can use these consoles one handed.
I'm glad to hear you were able to play the GB/GBA despite your disability! It's great how a lot of modern games have started implementing more accessibility features, I was reading how they did that with God of War Ragnarök recently so hopefully it'll become more of an industry standard.
@@orbalology I'm so happy to see accessibility become more of an industry standard as time goes by I think the reason why I gravitate towards rpgs as a young kid was because how easy they were button wise. My favorite GBA game is probably Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and probably Chain of Memories.
Oh Chain of Memories is one on my list! I have a lot of fondness for the early KH games. I've been meaning to get more into the Castlevania games so I'll look more into Aria of Sorrow too :)
@@orbalology I've always been a huge KH fan since the first one came out. I'm determined to see it to the end if it ends one day. I'd say All of the Castlevanias on GBA/DS are really good, but some have varying of quality. But Aria of Sorrow is peak Castlevania imo. That and Rondo of Blood for Classicvania. Symphony of the Night is my favorite though.
I bought an everdrive for gameboy and Gameboy advance after looking at all the prices for GB/gba games lol. For the few GB/a games I have, I bought custom DS cases that reprint the box art on the covers! I really like how the loose carts are protected, and the size is just perfect for fitting the manuals inside too.
Congrats on the 10k! And congrats on purchasing an Analogue Pocket! I finally just got mine about a month ago and it's definitely the best way to play Gameboy and Gameboy advance games. It will be worth the wait.
I'm surprised we had a few things left for the early Nintendo handhelds tbh! As well as my PS2 collection which I had also shared with my brother. It's nice to not have to re-buy everything 😅
@@orbalology haha nice. I definitely had to rebuy everything. Luckily it was mostly first gen Xbox so it was cheap. And just one or two genesis and gameboy games hahaha
I really like the contents of your channel, you have a knowledge that is not often mentioned in other places. You have a new sub. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽😊
I had that same AP Gameboy as a kid too and the only game I had was red, which is why I have no desire to collect for it and why I've kept all my 3DS stuff. I occasionally take my 3DS out to wish a FE friend happy birthday, or get in a couple quick games of Smash, but other than that I'm too busy collecting data. It's almost like collecting has become a game of its own and retro collecting is the hard mode, and that's a big wave to ride... Looking forward to see the GBA Zelda spiderweb setup tho :)
Oh I feel you about how collecting just by itself can be all consuming, leaving little time for playing 😅 Thankfully just collecting GB carts isn't too extreme on the hard mode scale, but yeah I'm curious how the collection will shape up too over time.
I find the rules to collecting retro games funny, like upgrading to a longer lasting battery that isn't from a certain manufacturer decreases the price of the Gameboy cartridge. Also, I know the kid me would've struggled with that configuration of cables at 8:56, maybe the Zelda titles were always intended to be the hardest multiplayer games, hence the name Link, lol.
@@two-nichegaming4482 Had no idea the battery manufacturer played such a role in value, glad you said this! I’m considering upgrading my batteries soon
Some collectors focus on authenticity and others focus on utility. For example: if you had a complete American Gameboy collection and felt you needed to have the latest Limited Run Gameboy titles in your collection to retain your 'complete' status and Limited Run "hypothetically" chose to have their own branded battery it might be harder (more expensive) to find the correct battery later in life, to retain value. To some serious collectors, even having an American battery in a Japanese cartridge could warrant accusations of trying to sell them a fake game. In my opinion, the correct approach is simply not using a cheap battery you'd have to change often, or could potential leak and ruin the inside of the cartridge, but If I was into collecting batteries I would play Fabraz's 'Demon Turf' in my free time, lol.
I've started down that road about 5-6 years ago. It has been slow going. Last week I bought Breath of Fire III (pretty cruddy condition despite the seller saying otherwise) and now I'm on the path of no return.
Low & steady sounds like the best way to go about retro collecting! And sorry to hear about the Breath of Fire III condition, hopefully you were able to salvage it!
Hey Emily, awesome video topic to celebrate 10k, what a journey so far. Literally been doing the same thing right now: picking up gameboy and gba titles.. So awesome. I am playing pokemon silver on my graphite 101 and its nostalgia max... especially at night time.
Thanks! I had fun building up to this moment too :) Oh that sounds cool! I have a lot of fond memories struggling to play at night at home or in the backseat of the car with the GBC/GBA, even with the little light accessory they included later on lol. Never got an SP but I really want to get the ags101 someday.
@@orbalology backseat of the car with the GBC/GBA light accessory, very cool memory. yeah SP is quite nice, Analog Pocket looks beautiful too, amped for you! The form factor is chill and the buttons feel incredible, even with big island hands. The lightest at 5 ounces, and Graphite comes with slick black buttons.
Final fantasy tactics advance on the GBA is a totally different game than the war of lions on the psp.. the advance version is a really beautiful game that I highly recommend you try out..
Yeah I realized I was mixing up the FF Tactics games and that the Advance game hasn't had a rumored remaster yet. So I'll definitely be adding the Advance game on my list.
There are so many Game Boy games that I wish I still had from when I was younger. Dragon Warrior III, Fire Emblem, various gen I-III Pokemon games, Tactics Advanced, both Zelda games you showed off, all sorts of various games I keep wanting to play, but being unable due to trading them away because I didn't know any better. I'm down to 3 GBA games now, Golden Sun, Golden Sun TLA, and Kingdom Hearts CoM. My first game for Game Boy was Pokemon Gold, and also started with Cyndaquil first. I feel like I may eventually trying to collect the childhood games I played, especially the ones I have really fond memories of, such as Oracle of Ages, Fire Emblem, FF Tactics Advanced, Pokemon Gold, Dragon Warrior III, and a few others I never got a chance to play. Back in middle school for some reason, our "school news" type thing by students that was broadcast to the whole school had commercials. That's where I first saw the trailer for Golden Sun TLA, and having loved the first game I remember being so excited for it to come out. I still remember a few of the characters I made in Dragon Warrior III as well.
Oh that's an interesting feature they had at your school! I never knew much about Golden Sun growing up & feel a little sad that I never got to play it as a kid. But I'm hoping to correct that oversight sometime soon and pick up all the games :)
@@orbalology I hope you get to play it soon! It's one of my favorite childhood games. I even replayed it a few times after finding out that I completely missed some stuff.
Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers!🎉 I find the Gameboy Advance so interesting compared to the original Gameboy. The latter seemed to be out for a long time without many great games (at least pre-Pokemon). I had Zelda: Link's Awakening on the old, grey brick model and loved it, my first Zelda games and first game I played with an explorable world. I remember being so excited for Oracle of Ages but never seemed to get round to playing it much and the cartridge then died on me pretty quickly which was a shame, hope to go back to it on Nintendo Switch Online and give it a fair shot. I got Pokemon Blue as my first Pokemon game and then Gold (I always seem to pick the less popular versions!) - imported from the USA as I was too excited to wait for them, was reading in magazines for years about Pocket Monsters and how Nintendo was not convinced it would be a success outside of Japan! I always pick the Water types as my starters, Moltres/Ho-oh used to cover me for Fire. Blastoise's high defence used to help me in the tournaments they held around the country. I heard that Gold/Silver cartridges can have issues with the batteries used to track time of day running out, I guess there will be some specialists who can fix them. (By the way I am with you on Gen2 being the favourite, that post-game was amazing for a Gameboy game back in the day!) I have a lot of GBA games that I would like to be able to play again (Golden Sun 1 & 2, Advance Wars 1 & 2, Mario & Luigi, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Doom, Chu Chu Rocket, FF Tactics Advance - cannot think of another console that had so many great games so quickly). I would be really interested in your thoughts on the Analogue Pocket once you have it as I have considering it myself.
Thank you!! One of the coolest features with the Oracle games is unlocking the secret code at the end which I hope the NSO will allow as a feature once those games become available! And lol, it's funny looking back at past articles and seeing what many companies (& authors) were predicting when it comes to franchise popularity :) The gen 2 postgame was so cool! And it was such a delight discovering that feature as a kid. I had no idea it was there until I beat the elite four the first time and was so confused when the game was telling me to go on some boat to a distant land. Never would have guessed there was a whole other world to explore!
Were probably about the same age, each game you talked about I also had lol. Oracle of ages, then Pokemon silver then I got my GbaSP cobalt blue and got sword of mana and a link to the past with it.
Always retro game collecting and it's so much more expensive than 10 years ago, it's nuts. I'd suggest going to flea markets because if there are games there, there's a better chance at getting great deals, and to also get a list of wants from friends or other collectors so if you find a game they want, you can trade. You may already know this info, but just saying just in case =) What are the other game boy/gba games are you really after?
Oh the highlights from my wish list are the Golden Sun games, the two Fire Emblem games, Zelda Minish Cap, FF VI advance, some of the Kirby games, all the ones I never had as a kid. But I'll probably first try to re-buy some of the Mario games, Kirby tilt n tumble, pokemon yellow, pokemon trading card game, and kingdom hearts chain of memories to start rebuilding my childhood collection.
Congrats on 10K! Your channel is the first "small" I started following towards the beginning. So it's been fun to watch your journey of building the channel and interacting along with you on the way. I hope your discord gets launched soon so all other like minded individuals can come together and have a place to chill and talk. 😁 In terms of GB/GBA collecting, I too went with loose games so I could save on costs. Another reason I did this is because I started buying cases from a website called customgamecases. They use good quality plastic cases that have the same dimensions as DS/3DS games. The cases are quite sturdy, the paper they use for the cover is also pretty good. However the image quality is just ok (at least one the ones I have.) The price is also reasonable too. At $5.50 I think it's great alternative to buying CIB games and shelling out a load of money. Should have bought more when they are only $4. ㅜㅜ Having GB-3DS lined up together using same dimension cases has been pretty fun to look at! Once again congratulations on 10K, and heres to another 10K and beyond in the future! Excited to see what's in store for you! 😄
Thank you! I'm hoping to launch the discord not too long after I'm settled in my new place. Or that's the goal right now 😅 I've heard good things about the custom cases - though I haven't decided if I want to commit to that yet or not. They look really cool but I'm not sure space-wise if it would be good to add them to a shelf like that vs. in a tea organizer box (I'm still a bit concerned that my new place won't have a lot of room to accommodate most of my current collections, so I should hopefully be able to determine that soon😅). I also don't really see my GB collection becoming too large, but if it does I'll probably need to consider some alternative storage options haha.
@@orbalologyFantastic. Looking forward to it. Ahh right I remember now about the teabox idea you mentioned before. Probably better on space in the long run if you don't plan to really expand your collection and aren't gungho about displaying it. Good choice.👍
I highly recommend Trials of Mana Remake. I got it on Switch. Short and sweet but totally worth going back for the other two character pairs playthroughs
Hooray ur vids are so good congrats on the all the success! :D I lost many of my childhood stuff too - still have my ds lite and original copies of a few gems like Link to the Past and Golden Sun (loose ofc) :3 Wishing ur channel long prosperous future lol keep killin it! lol
Thank you so much!! And it's good to have a few gems still from your childhood! But hopefully we'll start to get a few more remasters of all obscenely expensive titles someday 😅
When/if a Golden Sun remaster is announced I will LOSE IT! I’m normally a pretty laid back guy, but that’s one of my favorite games of all time and worthy of a school-girl-scream reaction lol
The prices for the cardboard boxes are insane. I keep them all separately in a box to store them because I feel like I am damaging them whenever I open or even handle them. I don't like collecting stuff like that. All of my GBA carts are in a binder placed in sleeves intended for trading cards. If you want to display them, a lot of people go the route of using DS cases that have the GBA slots and using repro inserts.
I've seen a lot of people use the binder and/or DS case option! They are great ways to quickly find games they're looking for. I don't really see my collection becoming too large but I've been looking into getting one of those tea box organizers for games that won't be displayed on the Analogue Pocket stand I shared in the vid.
My brother and I each had a copy of Oracle of Ages/Seasons as kids. I remember there was something you could do when you swapped games after finishing one prior. Can't remember what it did however, I'll have to look it up on youtube as someone must have covered it.
There are lots of secrets in the Oracle games (i.e. weapon upgrades, special character encounters, boss battles, etc.) & you were able to link the two games together after beating them :)
I have an Analogue and absolutely love it!! Many people use it as an emulator, but I use it mostly to place cartridges. The screen is beautiful. Also, congrats on your 10K!
Your background is very cool. Looks like something from the inside of a castle. Zelda link to the past is so good. The og pokemon games are so great. Great gaming memories.
Thanks! Yeah these are some really cool cabinets :)
@@orbalology Very cool. That's awesome. They look very medieval.
Collecting childhood games is always a good hobby. Nostalgia gets better and better with time.
I couldn't agree more! :)
It must be a wonderful feeling to be reunited with such a special game from your past 🥰
Also, I think the lack of manuals in modern releases is one of the saddest things.
Even looking at the box sitting on my shelf right now is giving me all the warm and fuzzy feelings 🥰
I agree, I often referenced the manuals too as a convenient way to look up things!
Makes me a bit wistful for the simpler times :)
And thank you!!
Congrats on 10K emily! Well deserved, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck on your journey to getting your childhood games back. Onward to 20K!!
Thank you! I really appreciate it 😊
@@orbalology You're welcome! 😄
Such a positive channel and I enjoy how you go in depth about the games. Glad I found your channel.
It can be easy to get a little jaded while collecting this stuff, so thank you for reminding me on why I love this hobby so much.
Thank you so much Ryan 😊
When nostalgia hits, it hits hard 😆
I bought some games i used to play on the VC for 3ds but still for me having to physically collect something is much more rewarding 😆.
There is really something about physical collecting that cannot be substituted or replaced :)
Nostalgia really brings out so many great feels haha. I'll definitely need to grab those and finally experience them!
Great video, Emily! Such a fun thing to do - nostalgia is so powerful!!! I have the same Game Boy and it was one of my first systems too and I played SOOOO much Pokemon Blue on it!
Thanks Paige! And nice, atomic purple for the win, hehe. That was such a delightful era to grow up in, simpler times with really immersive games 🥲
As someone trying to collect as much physical media as I can, not so much for the collectors value but just to have comfort that I have the thing I paid for; this makes me happy to watch.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear you can relate to this too :)
I wish you all the success, Emily. I am so glad you are enjoying your entry into retro collecting. I hope it brings you the same joy it has me! Onward to 50k!
Thanks Jay! I have a feeling it'll be a really rewarding journey. And I may need to start looking into some PS2 titles too 😆
I'm really glad you're finding this such a helpful outlet, and thanks for sharing it back with everyone :) I'm just over 40, and with all of the friends I've had over the years (and even the ones I have now) I've found that it can be really easy to lose the people (or even just a single person) who really listen to you, and some people struggle to ever find that again.
That's one great thing YT and social media in that you can connect with more like minded folks all over the globe :)
And thanks!
Came back to this video because I finally ordered an analogue pocket and wanted to see how someone else approached collecting (despite prices and availability) it’s nice to know getting the loose cart can still be a great way to collect, esp if you’re planning to actually play
So cool to see a link between worlds got you back into gaming too (same here 😭).
I used to love flipping through the manuals as a kid
Thank you! And oh no, sorry to hear your boxes got lost in a move :(
your manuals are a trip to memory lane, such a nice treasure
I was really happy when I re-discovered these!
Thank you, and best of luck with your collecting too!
Genuinely a gem of a channel on this platform and your growth reflects that in spades! Looking forward to seeing this collection of yours unfold, specially with such a sentimental value attached to it, it will be amazing to see :)
Congrats on 10k, and heres to 100k+!
It's ruining my days hahahaha
Good luck in the quest to find the childhood gold and looking forward to future videos.
Thank you! And Fire Emblem is great - would love to get ahold of the GBA games CIB but I'm definitely priced out at this point 😅
I definitely can't do CIB at the current prices 😅
I think finding whatever balance that works for you is best! I've been collecting a lot of modern/last gen games these last few years so I felt it was time to start working in a few nostalgic games back into my collection. Definitely won't be going super deep into retro collecting because I still really enjoy modern/last gen collecting :)
@@orbalology Makes sense to me! I know that nostalgia itch all too well. Good luck with your collecting!
This channel is a great discovery!!
Thanks a lot for your work 😊
Great to have those colorful Game Boy manuals. It is so rare to find boxes or manuals for Game Boy. It is usually just loose game in the wilds. My first Pokemon game for Game Boy color was Pokemon Blue.
I was pleasantly surprised that these manuals survived! Now if only some boxes could magically reappear 😅
Thanks Rusty! I'm really looking forward to finally getting ahold of the Analogue Pocket, whenever they ship it to me lol.
What an awesome milestone, congrats!
Thank you so much! 😊
Nice seeing you here Phoenix, love your content! You and Emily should collab one day
Watching your videos has really made me want to start collecting for my favorite older console!
There's an Asian physical version of Legend of Mana
It's been such a treat to get to know you better these last few months as well :)
Oh I'm now curious about which games you've picked up over the years for the system! My childhood collection mostly consisted of the popular games at the time, but there are so many neat JRPGs I missed out on that I'm hoping to snag at some point.
@@orbalology I'll send you a list 😁
Glad to hear you also have this game for the SNES CIB :)
Yeah I was considering trying to go slowly and hold out for the Game Boy CIB copies but it just feels so out of reach right now. And honestly I feel like it'll be a struggle to keep up with new releases, last gen releases I missed out on, while also trying to fit in expensive retro collecting so I settled for a bit of a compromise. This may or may not change eventually, but I'm glad to have started nevertheless collecting for the Game Boy systems :)
And yeah I have no expectations it'll be arriving anytime soon, hoping for December but we'll see😅 I keep hearing a lot of people complaining about the dock and how they're worried about breaking the plug when taking the system in and out of it.
I just discovered your channel recently and it's been a fun cozy good time
the interesting thing is that I was born well after the peak of the NES era, but after getting one from a thrift store when I was 13 it became the beginning of my obsession with retro collecting, and the NES is still my favorite to collect for (I also love collecting Wii games since they still pretty cheap, compated to GC at least!)
The GBA has so many awesome games! I just got an Analogue Pocket as well. 😆
Nice!! Hope you get a lot of great use out it 😆
After watching a few of your videos I think we had almost the same childhoods lol all of your favorite games are the same as mine when growing up too! And the way you collect things and the things you do collect it’s like I’m watching a female version of myself! And awesome collection too you have some cool stuff!
Haha, a cool coincidence! And means we both had impeccable taste growing up lol
That Pokemon Silver is beautiful. It will be amazing with the Analogue Pocket.
Congrats on 10k! I would love to collect my childhood games again I grew up on the GBA and GameCube
I wish I didn’t sell my old stuff 😅
Thanks Mandy! I carry similar sentiments, especially with all the games my brother & I traded in the early days 😭 But I hope you can reacquire some of your favorite childhood games again too :)
great work on hitting 10k subscribers 😁! i feel like gameboys/handhelds have been some of the most formative gaming experiences for people, so it's super interesting for you to share some of your memories and thoughts surrounding them!
Thank you! The Game Boy eras were really great times to grow up in, and I'm glad I could share a few memories I still recall :)
Game boy color is also my first console ever (who could guess that given my username) and I feel the same as you, although my first owned Zelda was Wind Waker, I certainly share with you the passion of discovering Game boy games and dealing with their manuals and stuff. Great nostalgic video.
Thanks! The Game Boy Color was truly a great console to grow up with :)
Congrats on the 10k and keep up the great work. If you're driving into gba games, I do recommend getting a gb operator for the main reason of easily making backups of save files and then the added feature of allowing you to play on your pc.
Thank you, I'll have to look into that :)
That's awesome! And really cool to hear about the capabilities of the AP :)
Seeing those manuals is such a nostalgia trip! Great content as always 👏
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed this too :)
Thank you! And I'm glad to hear you enjoy collecting for these systems too, and the 3DS :)
Congrats on 10K subscribers Emily! Such a huge accomplishment in such a short period of time. Looking forward to seeing how your collection and channel continues to grow 😄
Thank you, Taylor! 😊
congrats on the 10k subs, you deserve it and even more subs.
as someone who also has many memories playing the GBA as a kid it was fun watching you talk about your nostalgia with the GBA. i'm excited to see what GBA games you end up getting, my dream games to get would probably be superstar saga or zelda the minish cap.
Thank you!! I really appreciate it :)
I'm really excited to see which games I'll be picking up too!
Damn that’s so sick you got to 10k! Congrats fam, the sky is the limit!
Thank you!! 😄
I really enjoyed the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance, one of my favorite games is from that era (Link's Awakening) Congratulations on reaching 10K!!!
Would love to find the Lufia III cartridge and its manual in particular~
10:26 bit of correction, the one that has PSP remake is the first FF Tactics originally for the PS, the FF Tactics Advance shown here hasn't been rereleased yet in any capacity (they really should tho, hopefully in 2D-HD like you said).
Symphony of the Night is my favorite though.
before starting watching your channel, i had 2 games for switch , now i have 7! thank you ... 😢
lol, I'm glad to have pointed you towards some (hopefully) cool Switch titles at least :)
The custom DS cases look really neat! I've been considering doing that approach, or placing them in one of those tea organizer boxes :)
Congrats on the 10k! And congrats on purchasing an Analogue Pocket! I finally just got mine about a month ago and it's definitely the best way to play Gameboy and Gameboy advance games. It will be worth the wait.
Thank you! I'm really excited for mine to arrive (hopefully sometime this year lol).
Reading the manuals or back of the box games over and over again on the ride home 😅
Wow! I’m impressed what stayed from your childhood. I don’t have any of my childhood video games hahaha
Thank you so much! :)
Congrats on 10k, you inspired me to start creating youtube videos again!
Thank you! And best of luck with your channel reboot :)
Damn pretty much picked up my gba collection I used to have a month ago lol always so fun to go back and play some of those titles
It is fun to go back & see how much has (& hasn't) changed :)
Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers!🎉
I find the Gameboy Advance so interesting compared to the original Gameboy.
(By the way I am with you on Gen2 being the favourite, that post-game was amazing for a Gameboy game back in the day!)
I have a lot of GBA games that I would like to be able to play again (Golden Sun 1 & 2, Advance Wars 1 & 2, Mario & Luigi, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Doom, Chu Chu Rocket, FF Tactics Advance - cannot think of another console that had so many great games so quickly). I would be really interested in your thoughts on the Analogue Pocket once you have it as I have considering it myself.
Thank you!! One of the coolest features with the Oracle games is unlocking the secret code at the end which I hope the NSO will allow as a feature once those games become available!
And lol, it's funny looking back at past articles and seeing what many companies (& authors) were predicting when it comes to franchise popularity :)
The gen 2 postgame was so cool!
Nice! The game boy systems were great handhelds to grow up with :)
Always retro game collecting and it's so much more expensive than 10 years ago, it's nuts. I'd suggest going to flea markets because if there are games there, there's a better chance at getting great deals, and to also get a list of wants from friends or other collectors so if you find a game they want, you can trade. You may already know this info, but just saying just in case =)
What are the other game boy/gba games are you really after?
In terms of GB/GBA collecting, I too went with loose games so I could save on costs.
Or that's the goal right now 😅
I've heard good things about the custom cases - though I haven't decided if I want to commit to that yet or not.
I would HIGHLY recommend Zelda: The Minish Cap for GBA. It is 10/10 hands down. And congratulations on 10k!!
I really want to play that Zelda title! tbh I can't believe I missed it back in the day, but I'll have to correct that soon :)
I was browing through your channel, very good stuff, keep it up :D
Thank you! :)
I have an Analogue and absolutely love it!! Many people use it as an emulator, but I use it mostly to place cartridges. The screen is beautiful. Also, congrats on your 10K!
Thank you! I'm really excited to receive it, whenever it decides to arrive 😅😂
