COMPLAINT#1 UPDATE: complaint was finished in MAY (like the 5th) and they only JUST actioned the outcome. hurry up girlies. COMPLAINT #2 UPDATE: don't u love it when your student union says "You will need to form a complaint if this is something you would like to do" then your complaint is rejected because you have no grounds for it!! APPEAL UPDATE: got told to fuck off by my uni (and then DUN DUN DUN they accepted it when i said i wanted to take it higher??? basically challenge the fuckout of adults) love that we can't get things remarked when it actually matters!! sorry but lecturers can and do make mistakes.
I got into southampton university for law in 2020 and we had one discussion group for an hour on fridays to discuss literally every topic for the week about tort law, criminal law, and public law. This was during the pandemic so there's that, but I still found that to be unacceptable. When emailed my PAT about it she told me there was nothing to be done because of the pandemic. when I told the student union they said I should just email my professors my questions (which they ignore), when I said that doesn't count as a substitute for group discussion with other students, they basically told me "well, it's the best they can offer", and rejected my complaint Regardless of the quality of the teaching, I don't think law is for me, but I was kind of shocked by how little effort was made to provide any of the necessary requirements for a highly discussion based course during distance learning. It kind of felt like they were trying to just hope shit would work out if they uploaded video lectures and prayed.
do NOT buy freshers tickets!!! when you get here, your flat will probabl decide what clubs/events they want to go to together! maybe sign up for the freshers fair (free stuff) and bunfight (society fair) and then find someone from your course or flat who wants to come with you

its honestly shocking at how bad its been. it was awful over covid, and it literally just didnt get any better when things moved in person :/
