My 18 year old brother has very recently been diagnosed with ASD. We think his dad (my stepdad) most likely has it too but at 67, never diagnosed. I'm 35 and personally have ALWAYS struggled with sensory issues, (Especially clothing which affects me daily - hate changing my clothing and look to always buy the exact same clothes) but I don't really think I have enough of everything else to be diagnosed. I had a go on the RAADS-R and scored 92, with 30 in Sensory and 37 in social being the highest marked categories. I found quite a few of the questions tricky to know what to put though, I felt like I needed clarification or an example.
It's quite common (especially for autistics) to find some of the screenings tricky to understand! Definitely worth doing a few more screenings, and see if you can find examples of what they mean. Then you can take this to your GP if you'd like to pursue a referral. It could also just be that you have some traits (which I think most people do), but aren't autistic, so worth doing more screenings, and if you score above the threshold and are interested in knowing if you are or aren't autistic, you can then take this to a Dr.
I sent you a message on gmail, could you reply that?
They spent 6 grand on my dsa but im thinking surely I could have spent that better honestly. Like scrap the 200 on grammarly and let me put more on the laptop
You didn't have the full assessment. You should have had an ADOS 2.
hi this actually isn't true! a clinician can use a range of sources like the ADI-R and others, and the ADOS2 isn't used that much on adults as it is 'play based' (or at all online). i did in fact have a full asessment, and was diagnosed after meeting all the criteria
you look like charlie xcx
im REALLY hoping i can do bristol im on my hands and knees rn i saw this and this isnt looking too good
Do you mean psychologist
no - i was assessed by a psychiatrist.
I love autism! The foliage is so pretty and makes pleasant crunchy noises as you step through.
Hi Saskia Thank you for your video. I have my NHS assessment ( online ) on the 2nd Dec. I am terrified! Terrified in case I am not and just a horrible person who doesn't fit in or I am autistic and ffs it took so long for them to notice and the years of bloody hell! Is this in Hampshire ? Me too !
How do you do a combination of 1 or 2 A level and a btec extended diploma?
Mine was in a programme called the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme but I know in places that offer both, you can just take both sometimes.
@saskiahdlt so do i have to go 6th form as well as collage for btec diploma
@ Some places will offer both. Mine did - so I didn’t have to go to two schools (as I don’t think you can do this), so have a look for places that offer both
what major are you doing here?
I was studying psychology
thank you, this was very helpful :)
saving my grades 😭😭♥️
I will never pass up a good Barbie analysis/yapping session great video 👍👍
Thank you for thsi video! Im a recent stay at home mum and think tutoring would be a goos job for me to do in the evenings around child care. However I graduated in 2014 so have been out of education for a long time and I have no experience tutoring. I've been working in office roles since graduating However this is something that I think I can do (at one point i was thinking of training as a teacher). My degree is in Psychology and I have A grades at A levels Psychology and Sociology. I also have good grades in English, English lit, History and child development at GCSE. Unfortunately I dont have any friends or family at school age to practice on. I'm a little bit nervous! Are all the resources online free? How long does it take to learn a topic for a client? Any advice for me?
After my experience of applying for PIP 2 years ago i believe all the 1 hour applicant interview sessions should be recorded on video 📹...my assessment was a disgrace and so much important information left out...i have been advised to apply again and the process is underway even though im not sure if i can be bothered going through it all again 😔
i know its a lot of hard work (mentally especially) but if you can find the energy to push through i do highly recommend it! i didn't think it would be worth it at all (especially after being rejected with literal 0s) but i ended up with the awarded i am eligible for and now its a relief for a few years im set!
@@saskiahdlt yes perhaps, I got 2 points. Im not on medication and I am physically fine, my issue is social, communication, stress etc and its cost me multiple job's and my benefits being stopped, its difficult for me to work mentally, I like silence and zero stress, I need to be away from people and they weren't interested even though they have all my info and even though I hate to say it i have high functioning Autism...it gets crazier , a friend has severe communication issues and mental health so much he was educated in a school for delinquency and social and mental illness and he is on multiple medications and he was scored Zero , I feel like a freak sitting there while a total stranger makes a judgement on me in one hour. I saw a program were EX PIP Assessor's explained they were told off and had to alter there assessments to give lower points...
What's the point in applying for something hardly anyone gets. Even a horrible Mental Health nurse told me in a condescending way oh you wont get it. I am also applying for jobs and not even getting a response or interview for jobs when my CV is impressive enough to warrant one. I am at the end of my rope with all this. I feel useless unwanted and uncared for. The system is rigged against people.
50% of people will get PIP first time! as much as the process is super hard, it is worth it to get the support you are eligible for!
Thanks for the vedio am struggling
Hey, I just found your videos yesterday. I'm glad you're still uploading, you're doing a significant service for others in the same situation. Thank you for everything, your time and organisation ❤
Saskia as an Autistic person are you shy meeting new people ?
Hi Saskia..as an Autistic person do you have friends ? Do you stare at a tank full of Water? Do you have a love life ? Does music make you dream ? Do you work ? Can you cook ?
Im AuDHD. Diagnosed adhd, undiagnosed autistic. Before my parents came up to me and said that i was suspected AuDHD, i already had my suspicions about the adhd. The autistic one caught me off guard, especially as i have brought it up about 3 years previously, and my parents (both teachers) told me that i wasn't autistic. A few months ago, a video popped up on my shorts about autistic black and white thinking. The example used was "I can't be autistic, because i don't have every single trait." I didn't even feel that called out when I found out about the "white people can't handle spice" stereotype while eating a bowl of plain pasta with salted butter.
Hi there. I am DP 1 and i have access to Inthinking, but am struggling alot with the amount of information scattered everywhere but my first concern is the key Studies . Do you have flashcards that organize all these Studies mentioned in inthinking, with aim, procdure, results and evaluation in a concise way possible. I have loads to work on, HL biology, HL chemistry, HL math AA. Would you please help me by any organized resource for those Studies mentioned in Inthinking. Thanks alot and i wish you the best

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, to me you appear super-fine. Are you perfect, not even close but I accept you unconditionally for who you are as a person. Good wishes & God Bless ❤🙏

And considering this was a Masters so £12K.... I'd love to know where my money went
Hi! I'm going into my first year of University this September and I've applied for DSA but am yet to hear back the outcome. I have a working HP computer but I would find it easier to use an iPad to take notes in lectures and draw/ plan out stuff. Do you think DSA will provide me with a relatively cheap iPad or is this unlikely? Thx Also do you get to keep all the technology they give you once you graduate or do you have to return it back ?
Hi so they don't provide iPads (as far as I'm aware), but you can get a cheap one from CEX, mine was about £80 and still functions fine. And you get to keep all the technology, no giving it back (I think you may give it back if you drop out but not 100% sure)
Hi! Thank you, I will keep that in mind
Such a sweet accent! Greetings from USA Tennessee to be exact. Hope you have a good weekend
This video was so helpful for me while I was studying for psych, like I can't even express my graditude!! However, I also got a 6 (four points from a 7) and idk I lowkey wanna get it regraded but most of my teachers have been telling me not to because I got a six and I could potential drop to a five, but like I truly believe I got a 7 and idk if I should still get it regraded??!??!?!?!?
Hi! I am an incoming student to soton this September. May i know whether should i get super single or single bedsheet?
i would say a single!
80-100 pages long?? girl i don’t even get past 10 half the time HOWW do you write so much I get thru it and don’t know what else to write luckily i still get a distinction out of that but geeeeez 😭😭😭 Edit: I start my level 3, year 2 in September too so wish me luck 😭
I know I already commented, but I kept watching and wow lol. You make so much sense and I agree so much. We are very similar. You are just way more smarter than me. But ye wow. Mind blown. Also, I like your nose. Not that it matters.
So awesome. I relate lol. So many run ins with mental health services and being on wrong medication and self advocating and you know who realized I am autistic? ME. So glad you didn't give up and fought for yourself. So sad that we have to.
im not autistic, im an alien. ok so i just took the raads-r thing and got like 190, and i think i may have given myself credit for "getting" what cats and dogs raining means. or like i feel like a mill... i mean, how does anyone not get it? i mean asking the question alone confuses me.. but whatever Anyways so yeah im an autistic alien.
How about Carl Jung and Kazimierz Dabrowski?
First video or yours that I've seen. I relate to u a lot, especially with the talking

Don't get a nosejob, your nose is cute.
Its really hard to navigate when people are constantly being dishonest about their feelings about us too. Its pretty much impossible to get straight forward, kind advice about how others view us so that we can have nore comfortable interactions. It seems like they think telling us white lies is helpful to our self esteem or maybe they're just trying to keep the peace.
We are the same person omg
