Really enjoyed your reaction, not a song I’ve seen a reaction to before. To see how diverse Divinyls really were I would suggest checking out Boys In Town (1981), Back To The Wall (1988) and I’m Jealous (1995) for starters

Great reaction…great band..Chrissy reminds me of the brunette Australian Debbie Harry…a little more rock …plenty of sass & great front woman …Science Fiction, Only Lonely, Boys in Town were popular hits down here but they had plenty more 👌❤️

I also saw them many times live in the early 80s and I agree, In My Life is one of their best.

Definitely one of my favourite Divinyls songs, who are just about my favourite Aussie rock bands. She had quite an extraordinarily individual voice, and they wrote some classic songs that are really overlooked.

Plenty of different vibes out of this band -
'Boys in Town' should have been a world-wide hit not just in Australia. (check out the official video for it)
I love 'Dear Diary' and 'Elsie' that show another side of them, live version of these preferred.
The whole 'What a life ' Album is gold.
Also my compliments to how you put your videos together, they are by far the best looking reaction videos out there (the time you put into is obvious). And your honest reflections make them perfect.
    Keep it up.

First 2 songs I think of are Pleasure and Pain and Boys In Town. Not a band I know well (5-10 years before I was really listening to music) but definitely big in Aus.

Loved thr dude on the right getting into the groove, that's what we want to see in a reaction - subbed just for that. Lots of awesome Divinyls songs, check out All the Boys in Town and Siren to get you started.

start with boys in town their debut single in 1981 and elsie a live version, an interesting point most aussie artists in the 80's weren't really interested in making it in the usa and just wanted to play good music, they made enough for a living in australia and thats all they wanted

Great song by Aussie rock royalty! I agree so many videos distract from the music. Once again a great discussion by you both!
I Touch Myself was used for breast cancer awareness commercials after Chrissy passed away from breast cancer.

Chrissy Amphlett was a force of nature. Her voice almost gets lost behind the music in this one but she is unbelievable.

Interesting. I’d only heard the “one” song before. I got a more rocking Missing Persons kind of vibe? 😎 Nice to hear something different from them after all this time.

My favourite song of theirs is pleasure and pain

A LOT of Divinyls' songs have that 'haunting' quality. It's hard to define why, but it's there. I recommend 'Victoria'.

Good to know I am not the only one that found this song and video kind of haunting. At the same time has a fantastic mid 80's music when see it for first time many decades later. Something creepy to know she actually died relatively young herself and she stops to say those words a number of times in the song. Weird how heard a number of songs in the 80's with this band but do not recall hearing this song back then. Wish I'd had seen this band live in later 80's when I was old enough to attend concerts but for some reason never really were on my radar then. I really messed up in not seeing them when I could have.

Gone too soon. Apart from Chrissie and Nark McEntee, some recognition for the bass player, Rick Grossman. His appearance on the Australian Story doco about 15 years ago, detailing his struggles with addiction and his recruitment to the Hoodoo Gurus, was an eye opener and took great courage. Recommend.

Mate . you blokes looked like you just wished you were there. Which was a great place to be. Time, space, it just worked in Australia then.

Poor Chrissie got a double whammy - MS and Cancer - treat one and the other gets accelerated and kills you - dont treat either and one of them kills you. Such a shame because she was a fantastic talent.

I don't know when mullets started in America, but back in the late 60's, there used to be gangs of Sharpies in Australia, who had shaved heads, with long hair in the back, the guys and sheilas (Aussie word for girls/women) even had a typical dance style, but usually scared the crap out of the general public. Sort of akin to Skin heads in England, the kin you steer clear of.😅
By the early 70's, the mullet came with more hair on the top of the heads. 😂 And more popular with the general youth population.
Congratulations on being the first to react to this song, as far as I know. Divinyls are well worth delving more deeply into, they're typically Australian when it comes to writing songs about every day experiences, or subjects most people don't want to address, yet anyone can relate to. The guitarist tried to revive the divinyls after Chrissy passed away, but copped a huge backlash, specially from Australia and rightly so, she's irreplaceable and that's like sacrilege to us.
I miss her and the band, she was a real wild child on stage, but elegant, eloquent and a little shy off stage.
You gotta go back to 81' and enjoy the journey. 😘👌💕
