Drummers are very creative when dealing with handicaps. We had a late summer festival at my town and the drummer of the headlining band tore some tendons in his foot shortly before the gig. Instead of cancelling the cpncert, he hopped on stage in crutches, realigned the drumset and played the entire set with one leg in a cast.
As a drummer I understand everything he does on a theoretical level, but the fact that he does these insane things so incredibly clean and tight is amazing. The way he switches between the gravityblast and triple roll on a single hand in the end there is mindnumbing.
@@jd0879 A lot of drummers practice technique with one hand or foot at the time, just not to this extent. Corcus act or not, technical prowess combined with musicality and creativity makes for brilliant art and entertainment. If you cannot see that, you can only blame yourself. Also, I think it’s weird that people use the term «circus act» as a negative connotation, since lots of circus acts crave immense skill and creativity to master their arts. You might as well say «it’s just sports» or «it’s just art». Or maybe you’re just one of those simples who only like 4/4 beats and 3-chord songs and anything more complicated is too much for the ol’ brain to handle? 😆 Also: Def Lepard.
What I notice is the quick foot switch he does between the double bass and the hi-hat pedal, its seamless af. And then the hi-hat with 1 hand. This man has 5 brains, 1 for each limb and 1 main controlling them.

Basically he's using the rim of his drum as a fulcrum and he's just using hand techniques to get it super fast. Ya not many people can do it as well as he can though. That's for sure. Alex I highly recommend you check out Avery Molek playing bat country he was 8 when he recorded it, he's around 16 now but even as a young kid he got to play with Kiss, Brad Paisley etc.. One talented kid. There are quite a few on youtube, but I always feel like he was one of the whole "youtube virtuoso" thing pioneers

Well that one technique he shows before is only able to be done if you study HOW TO HOLD THE STICK!! that is how subtle this guy is....I've done that, on a very slow and short basis. I mean I did a short single roll with one hand, that was a bunch more pathetic then anything else.

i can't play the drums for the life of me cuz i lack the actual skill for it but i've got not only natural tempo and can at the very least finger and slap drum decently, with these and the knowledge that drumming is done with a slack hand i can actually tell how he's doing it lol again, slack hand its how you drum fast as hell on the snare and the other drums the bass tho is obviously just double pedals, ez, as long as your feet have the endurance to endure it you can learn to do it just need confidence and practice and you can get skilled
