We'd get to a part of a song that was too hard for us to play and decide to just skip that part. I had 7 Metallica shirts (one for each day of the week) that I wore to school and I had the nerve to think I was one of the "cool" kids.
James may be 52 but that intro kicks in, the feet go wide, and he becomes that 20-year-old metal head kid again. The chops are still there, so why not keep rocking out? The songs keep coming, because this is not just "hard" -- it is an excellent song.
All sounds so perfect !! And the drums maaaaaann....So sweet ! Congrats to the one that mixed this. My favorite of the album, besides Spit Out The Bone of course !
James’s right hand is a freakin beast for chugging along for 3+ hours a night with no breaks. So glad I got to see them on this tour and am going to have the opportunity to do it again in May

Check out Metallica's gear and you'll realize they use wireless systems for their guitars. Most performers use these systems as they don't want to trip over their cables on stage.

It is baffling that he completely omits these parts live because it's better than trying and failing. I get that an album is it's own entity, but many of the double bass parts on the record are trademark parts of the songs.

Honestly, I find it a little surreal (in a Great Way!) to see the Lads from San Francisco playing smaller rooms, esp. historically black concert halls like the Apollo and Webster Hall! Live at Vans, etc.

Here Comes Revenge is a killer tune. Only songs that were good but not amazing were Dream No More and Am I Savage. Murder One was good as well but its not one of the stronger tracks. Best songs for me in no order are Hardwired, Spit Out the Bone, Atlas Rise, Moth Into Flame, Now That We're Dead, and Here Comes Revenge. ManUNkind is also a very strong track. Confusion and Halo on Fire were also very good but they're not as good as the songs I mentioned as being the best. I also thought the re-recording of Lords of Summer was decent.
It was good, but it would have been even better if James played the fast Motorbreath-like alternate-picking riff at 2:37 while Kirk did the solo, like on the original. It gives a certain feeling to that part.
