Hey, wrapper here. just wanted to let you know (this will get lost in comments) around 6 minutes in, you say to heat up the material before applying it. this is 100% wrong. 3m 1080 is a pressure sensitive material, it's pressure that causes the glue to stick. think of it this way: if you notice in the back, the glue has tiny grooves in it. this creates little air ways that trapped air can move through, also, there is less surface contact, so you can pull it up easier. apply the material laying it flat, and applying it with your hand, THEN use a squeegee and lock it into place, THEN use the heat to get the contour, THEN post application heat it, this causes the material to lose it's "memory" and avoids it (in a proper application) from lifting.
if you apply heat before, the glue will get so hot as soon as you apply it, the little airways will close causing the possibility of more bubbles. Nobody will ever read this. banana hammock.

How about stick it straight on cold and heat afterwards to conform to the edge curves? I did my whole car bonnet easily this way, not one wrinkle and only a few tiny bubbles. I find heating for flat surface laying makes it really susceptible to wrinkles and bubbles and stretching the pattern, but is essential for tackling curves once you have got the flat parts down and only have curves to go

Anyone know if the 3M 1080 is thin enough to work around curves? I bought Vvivid gloss carbon vinyl and it's too thick to use on curves for interior trim. It doesn't stick or curve when heated. Instead it straightens back out. It's really annoying to work with.

I cannot decide wether to get some clean looking, brushed alu wrap (gray or black) or go for orange 3D carbon fiber. I have a fully black leather/plastic interior. Gonna wrap trim pieces because they have some ugly "nail" damage on them.

i want to wrap some interior pieces on my car (3 series BMW E90) because some pieces had a rubbery coat on top of the plastic, and that rubber is sticky and it came off in some places, it's really ugly. i tried alcohol and it won't come off, do you know hao to take that stuff off? or i should just sand it off..? Thanks!
+Bogdan Anghel Sanding it will remove it for sure, but I feel like a solvent should be able to remove it. Get a microfibre towel and put some paint thinner on it, and rub it over the panel to see if the rubbery coating comes off. If it doesn't, proceed to use sand paper :)

Why are you working in the dark, and why did you not remove the trim before wrapping?
hey, i have a problem, i live in a building and i dont have a power source to use a gun heater or such a thing! what is the solution?
I would just remove whatever pieces u can and do it in the building. Thats what im doing in a couple days.

If you use the wrap made by 3m it won't harm your paint or trim and it won't leave any residue.
The residue is like tint? Glue crud left behind?
It seems like it would be tough to wrap the top of a shift knob! Could you make a vid on that??

Ya, however when you do you must make sure there are no chips, dents or any rust because otherwise the wrap will not stick and it will quickly fall off.

One thing I would have done with the trim pieces, I would had remove them and wrap all the way to the back instead of just the edges.
How long does this usually last? I want to wrap the interior of my Supra but want it to really last a long time. My current interior is fading and cracked in a few places so I would literally be wrapping everything a couple different colors.
If you take the time to do it right, it is permanent.

That is the best you can buy. 3M is the company that makes it, and 1080 is the series of vinyl. If you can get that, you will be in good hands :)

duude. I just did this to my 8th gen accord. I wrapped it with a carbon wrap, and it looks so good. but I didn't do the trim pieces though. I did the entire center console, and I'm about to do the dashboard soon. I'm gonna do the center piece, around all of the buttons and screen.

Diehard Ch1ef try cutting it again. It might fit if you cut enough times.
Hum... But why you heat up for flat areas? For that you can use the natural elasticity of material. Like that you get problems with shrink in hot days.
Heating up your vinyl before applying is a big no-no. Heat is your last resort. If you are using material with an air release liner, do not use heat unless you mess up and you need to trigger the vinyls memory. I do this for living, other than that, video is pretty decent, but please no heat
not removing trims when you should... cutting the vinyl wrongly making the brushed aluminum go from top to bottom instead of going from side to side, heating the vinyl when its not needed oh boy i could go on and on with whats wrong in this video

I hope the owner didn't actually pay for this... so wrong in so many ways. Not sure why you decided to make a youtube video about wrapping when you yourself should go watch some youtube videos on wrapping. I'm not trying to hate; just bothers me because you're teaching others your bad/incorrect methods. At the time of this comment, 350k viewers received horrible advice on wrapping. "...You wanna warm up the entire piece of wrap before you lay it down" -- wtf? Only use heat when it's an absolute must. Most panels can be wrapped just by lightly stretching the material in such a way that it makes it conform to the shape. Heat is used for stuff like corners, angled edges, moderately curved surfaces... Also a good idea to apply some hit once the material has been fully installed to promote better adhesion and to show/detect any hidden air bubbles.
Anyways, watch someone like @CKWraps if you want to know how to actually wrap..
You do not use heat before applying wrap this will stretch the wrap too much therefore making it prone to shrinkage, bubbling and peeling

You have to make sure you're getting 3M wrap. The 3M 1080 series is the good stuff, and a lot of people on eBay might imitate it.

this guy is SO BAD AT WRAPPING LOL. He does not know nothing what so ever. Do not listen to him. Also, he say that you HAVE to heat the material, no you dont. You only heat the material when needed. In that situation he did not need to heat the material.
I agree with the heat comment but you'd be taken more seriously if your grammar wasn't atrocious. "does not know nothing", literally translates to "knows everything".

I agree but i guess he didnt want to remove the door panel or something. The result wasnt nice at all, you can see the extra vinyl around the edges.

Just made wrapping a flat trim piece harder than its suppose to be. You don't heat a flat surface just lay the vinyl down😒

Uh, that does not look very good. Look at the left side of the trim. You can clearly see the overhang of the wrap crumbled in there. Same with the upper gap between trim and door panel. I hope you didn’t take any money for the work you’ve done.
