  • I have finally done it! I have launched the group training for people so you can join a session and see me take someone through a full assessment.
It does not matter if you have a perfect form, if you cannot communicate clearly on your PIP assessment you will NOT win.
If you cannot focus on the important areas and be honest in a way that the assessor can, well assess you. Again, you will NOT win.
This is the most vital part of the whole PIP process and I hope this ends up helping 100,000's of people!
Please use this link if you would like to book onto a group training session (or any other of the services I offer):

This is for future ‘live’ meetings with me where you can ask me questions directly.
    WHO AM I:
My name is Charlie and I am disabled. I live with chronic illness, I have a severe form of Psoriatic Arthritis and its crap! I am in pain all the time and always battling fatigue. BUT, I will not let it win. I love to learn and to laugh (even though it hurts my arthritic rib cage LOL). You will often see Ollie (she) my black Labrador. She is currently my trainee assistance dog! We are together, literally ALL the time.
As there are a number of awful people who target us - the vulnerable - here is a link to my personal LinkedIn account. You can literally see the past 25+yrs of my career, people who have recommended me (as a Logistician as Disability Specialist is very new for me).

The most important bit: I would like to thank the support network I have around me and YOU for watching this channel.
Please know, I would love to reply to all of your comments but I cannot reply AND film new videos, write the weekly newsletter and work with clients. If I could, I really would reply to you all.

Hi Charlie, I have listened to a lot of your podcasts. As a former care home manager that Covid well and truly turned my life upside down and has left me with Long Covid, ME and Fibromyalgia. I had been turned down twice for pip before I found you and after listening to you and your advice, I have just found out I have just been awarded pip. It really should not be so hard for genuinely ill people. I want to say thank you very much, you are a superstar. Xx

No I’m sorry Charlie…… but not sleeping plays a big part. When you’re in so much relentless pain that no pain killers even take the edge off it, it’s an added problem. When you’ve not slept for 8 consecutive days and you’re hallucinating, can’t form a sentence or fully understand what’s being said to,you, forget to take medication or take another dose thinking you’ve not, taken it. No energy to,get to,the bathroom or falling asleep in your food,,then yes it is a problem. And by explaining this on my applications it’s got me full points. Chronic sleep, deprivation is a major problem.,without sleep you, can’t function, mentally or physically. You,need sleep,to live like the air we breathe. Sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture in the army. It’s the one major thing we need to function.

I have to agree with you.
I regularly go 4 days without sleep, with maybe 1-2 hrs napping in 24 hrs, & then I miss taking my meds, & all my symptoms get 100 X worse.
Then I flake out for 18 hrs straight, & wake up not knowing what day it is, in agony - & having missed almost a days meds - & it all starts again!
I only know when I've missed meds Bcos my chemist puts my meds in a dossette box - even then, if I miss a day, I'm taking them out a day, & only know this, bcos my cleaner comes once a week, on the same day of the week!
I cope as best I can with the pain, but the sleep deprivation is a total bar steward, & drives me nuts - literally! 😭

They don't ask about sleep! If you say anything they change the subject, Because they KNOW, sleep deprivation is serious and that is why they don't ask, & there isn't a point score for it.

@@KatytheNightOwlI’m sorry you have to go through this. I know exactly where you’re coming from. I feel your pain. It’s also dangerous, especially dealing with meds and the risk of falling, feeling disoriented. Without sleep, you’re fit for nothing. You can’t drive or focus on anything. It’s all consuming.

    • @Buddingrose

@@carolineowen7846Yes that’s just typical isn’t it. There isn’t a point score for it but it is part of a condition, usually caused by pain. They can’t get away from it, if it dominates your life. They ask how your condition affects your daily life and I make sure I write down every painful detail. I have no choice but to because in conjunction with the pain, it’s one of the major elements as to why I have zero quality of life.. A symptom from my pain which is a symptom from a back accident….which caused a whole sequence of events too complex to explain. By this my husband is up most nights with me for hours at a time. I’m so unsteady on my feet from not sleeping, pain and paralysis he has to help me with various things.

The worst thing for me, is when I'm taking my pain meds, & I'm not all there, Bcos of sleep deprivation.
The risk is that I won't know if I've taken them, or not, as I'm woozy, with brain fog, too, & always in pain, even with them.
Sleep Deprivation SHOULD be taken into consideration!
It's dangerous, when it keeps on happening.
Trouble is, I'm on meds to help me sleep, but the pain's so bad, the meds don't work, & if the doc ups the strength, then I'm constantly out of my head, anyway, & sleeping for 12-18 hrs at a time - it's actually less dangerous for me, to have the sleep deprivation, as sleeping all the time would just set me up for different health problems!
My pain meds aren't put in the dossette box, as I take 2 different types, at various times, so I've occasionally taken more than I should, as well as not taken enough.
I live alone, which doesn't help matters, so rely on my PIP to pay for the care I need, which isn't as much as I DO need, as I also have to pay for a cleaner, a gardener, & someone to help me with personal care.
It all costs, so I only get help to shower, & wash my hair once a week. Same with the cleaner, & once a fortnight for the gardener.
That takes up almost all of my PIP, so if Labour continues with the Tory plans with PIP, I won't even have that help! 😪

I suffer with alcoholism and when I had my pip assessment I was half hammered cos I reached for drink again to help with the crippling anxiety / depression. I didn't even know what day it was as she spoke about my meds I couldn't remember which one is for what (10 meds). Anyways on my report she said I spoke intelligently about my meds and showed good memory and cognitive skills. This was after I had a 3/4 of a large bottle of vodka..figure that one out

How can I ever communicate well if this is my problem, which is one of the descriptions. So I’m trapped pretty much I guess.

I remember on my mum’s first assessment the prepping of food said “you struggle with grip, such as holding a knife” then said somewhere else “but you can drive, indicating good grip”. Make that make sense.

I have finally received my letter back to say they are happy with me to carry on receiving P.I.P. I am very, very lucky as I've not had communication with them at all. I know I shouldn't complain, but I don't agree totally with their decision, they have awarded me the lowest rate, I believe I should have been awarded the middle rate. I have deteriorated so much in the last 13 months, since I filled in my renewal form, can I ask for a mandatory reconsideration x

Your desire to help people is so kind, but the risk is that you overwork and harm your health. My thought was perhaps it would be possible to do a type of pay it forward system. Having been coached by you about PIP you now have a knowledgeable group of people, probably willing to help others. Obviously without your experience in the admin. However sometimes the most important form of support is someone who can offer emotional support and guidance on a voluntary basis.
    Thank you.

If you fill out the forms should u fill it from a bad day or as the symptoms fluctuate how would u send that. Other question is if you work can you claim pip ?

    • @KatytheNightOwl
      @KatytheNightOwl หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, you CAN claim for PIP while working.
It was set up for both working & non-working people, as it's supposed to be for paying for the extra support you need, Bcos U1 are chronically ill/disabled..
Be totally honest with yourself, and work out how many times, on an average day or week or month, that you can do something without taking more time, or not struggling, or having to stop.
If you can only do something, on an average, such as making a meal, only once a day, then treat that like you can't do it, or only with help..
If you can only shower once a week, or you can't do it safely, consistently, and regularly, then that would be classed as NOT being able to do it S, C, & R!
Charlie has a vid explaining all of this, so look through her stuff, yes?
      Good luck! 👍

Have you filled in the green paper about changes to PIP? I find it really scary and highly insulting they are talking about changing the money for vouchers. Surely this is taking away our freedom of choice as to how we use the benefits
