I agree. Not only that but its like the same conversations over and over. Every, single, comedian is creating a podcast. JRE, Tigerbelly, Flagrant, Theo Von's This past weekend, etc. It just goes on and on. Not saying they're bad or anything, but its just becoming to much. No podcast feels special or exciting. You don't ask yourself "Whose the next guest that will be on said show" anymore because its just repeats of the same guests with the same questions and same topics.
@@HumorousHole word, I don't like that group of comics but then there's also like Tim Dillon, Matt and Shane's secret pod, Cumtown, and Chapo and they all have overlap with each other.
That’s not what it is. Howard isn’t resentful that podcasters don’t have to go through the scrutiny he once did. He’s upset that he has no leverage, no position of power to gatekeep. He’s bitter that anyone can plug in a mic and if they’re talented enough and driven enough, they can become a massive star. He hates that. He hates that because the separation between him and the “other” blurs more and more. He wants to be above everyone, always. Now he’s fading into obscurity even more rapidly than ever before and a whole slew of audio format entertainers are popping up and he can’t pull any shit behind the scenes to stop them.
So he is resentful? It's easy to see that. I don't know how you got inside his head to know why.. There's more evidence leading to him being resentful rather than anything else.. Resentful is resentful fk the reasons.
I would argue he is annoyed that it's actually the opposite. You don't have to have talent now, or drive, you just need a pre-existing relationship with someone who has a popular podcast. That's just the thing. Most of them are talentless and still succeed because of who they know. They just get in on the podcast circlejerk, then get involved in some influencer drama, and that's it, they make a career out of that, even if they literally never had a joke land in their lives. They're never driven to hone their craft and they don't drive each other to become better comedians (if they're even capable of that) , and we are subjected to endless mediocrity as a result.

Great breakdown. So crazy seeing these clips together. Ari got his show “this is not happening” on Comedy Central soon after all this went down. Such a crazy time lol
15:00 I'm so glad that you're playing this next part because I haven't heard this and I'm very curious of what he's going to have to say after that ass reaming Howard Stern gave him
Tough break for Howard. He made broadcasting the place to be, did a 180-degree turn and dumped his core audience. At the same time podcasting popularity took over, TH-camrs are now more relevant than celebrities and nobody gives a shit about him anymore.
Stern was huge in the 90s too man. He was at a high level for a long time. Longer than most, and his interviews are still pretty good. He mostly talks about old controversy’s that people are fine discussing at this point.. he has almost no discernible opinions of his own, lol, as one person on one side of a feud or controversy he’s their best friend, and then the opposite side is on and Howard takes their side.. but it makes the guest give a maybe more honest or longer answer than most sound bites from them on the topics of yester-year.
Currently on Howard 100: “Hillary Clinton in studio” On Howard 101: “Best of Jon Hein.” Can’t even switch to Opie and Anthony like the good old days. SXM subscription cancelled.
The one thing I will defend Howard on is the interviews. He's damned if he does damned if he doesn't. If he asks people crazy questions and embarrasses them, it's good radio but celebs won't want to go on to be interviewed. So he has more people going on to be interviewed because he isn't ripping on them anymore. This may be an unpopular opinion but maybe Howard was funnier back in the day because there were boundaries, so they had to be creative with what they said and use innuendo. There were a lot of boundaries to push, which was exciting. Now Howard can say anything and it's not challenging. Idk. It's something I've wondered. Or maybe he just got boring. Lol!
That was the price you had to pay to be in his show, it was the center of the universe but you had to take some punches to be on it, once he started to go easy on “big guests” in order for them to agree to come on, he killed his business model.
@@_..-.._..-.._ That's true but since celebs have their own social media in most cases and so many other outlets, who wants to go on and be bashed? I'm not sure there is any way Howard could keep doing that and have guests in this current world.
I personally went to an Ari Shaffir stand up special in Atlantic City in 2019 before the controversy, so I don't know how Howard can say nobody has heard of him and he doesn't do stand up. Too bad the controversy happened because the special was amazing, and I think the controversy prevented the special from going to Netflix.
Keep it up with the stern content. Can you do a video of when henry hill used to come on the show. There's crazy videos out there of Henry drunk as hell on the show but alot are removed from TH-cam
You were 100% right on Howard being resentful. I just watched a video of Norm Macdonald on Stern where Howard says he hates doing his job at this point. It stood out because Norm was totally shocked and clearly bothered by it.
The thing about Podcasts is that no, not just anyone can become a successful podcaster. It still takes hard work, you still need to know how to grab and hold audience, work ads into your show, and be able to plan for longevity. Which I think is why a lot of standup comedians have a successful podcasts. Yeah there's a lot of random nobodies who made it but all in all there's still a level of talent and work that goes into these things. I bet a lot of these broadcasters think people just hit a button and they have a show. It's not how that works at all.
You missed Aris final response he did on his skeptic tank podcast. He privated it for some reason but it was the nail in the coffin that shut Stern up for good. It was the first time Howard lost a war of words. I wish I could find it but it seems to be scrubbed of the internet.
I grew up listening to Howard like 17 years before he move to satellite. He has turned into a husk of a human being, I inherited a lifetime subscription purchased specifically for Howard when he first moved, I let the device die and never replaced it. I listen to Skeptic Tank more than I listen to Howard which is never.
Ari's come back was GOAT. His response to Howard saying no one knows who Ari is, is Ari standing in front of a bill board of him self saying i guess Howard was right...lmoa
Not a fan of Ari comedy and i grew up watching Howard on the E! Channel lol. So thank you Howard for interviewing the hot chicks of my time. However, i am big into podcasts and still listen to radio when i drive as well. Podcasts won Howard. Its ok man
You bring up a great point about the complacency in podcasts, especially in this circle. I think there’s going to be a breakdown in this field, do to over saturation, similar to the 90s internet start up boom and burn out, but I don’t think we are even close to that yet…so enjoy the mediocrity for awhile.
Man I have to say one thing your channel is extremely addictive. Like some of the stories I know then there's some things that you add into it I'm like oh shit I didn't know that. Then there's just I don't know something about it man good job after blowing up your comment section in like five videos I finally subscribed. Sorry about that by the way I get a thought in my head and I'll forget it right away so I have to say it or it's gone you know so sorry for blowing up your comment section. Also trying to use more punctuations because apparently everything's just a one long sentence. I figured it might be better to use them and put them in the wrong places then not use them at all I guess./?
That's amazing because Howard became famous by doing the exact opposite. He would eviscerate Hollywood elites and became an "all-talk" morning personality - something unheard of in his era. So naturally, when you become #1 in the country, the show becomes a good vehicle for promotion and celebrities would start to come on the show. Now Howard is an ass-kissing buddy of the same people he would roast.
this is why I like Ari, I can care less about him drugging Bert and Bert pretending like Molly is worse than drinking every single day and eating like shit.
Howard saying if he started podcasting no one would know who is, is correct. He is a has been, who isn't relevant anymore. He's hanging to dear life to what ever he has left. Psychotic denial.

If you need a taste of this dudes massive, unparalleled ego, watch Private Parts. Absolutely insane how highly this dude thought of himself.
@@damotheman4196 I didn’t mean he’s not resentful, I meant he’s resentful for a different reason. I may have worded it clumsily.

Shout out to Howard Stern ,I was in a movie with him ,called Private parts ,me and M.c . Hammer back stage scene 💪👍🍻
I was with him at Epstein Island, legandary trip, never seen Howard enjoy himself as much as he did in that tropical paradise
Ari was actually the host of "This is not Happening" at this time.. literally telling jokes in clubs, and being broadcast on Comedy Central😂

When I heard how much Bert kreischer gets for an ad read I almost died...
Lol!
Yup. You pretty much hit it on the nail. Exactly what’s going on
That was the price you had to pay to be in his show, it was the center of the universe but you had to take some punches to be on it, once he started to go easy on “big guests” in order for them to agree to come on, he killed his business model.

At one point in time I use to rush home to catch Howard on the E channel. Some of the funniest 🤣 shit back in the day.
Loving the content bro keep em' coming
I don’t get why Howard Stern can’t do the same broadcast as a podcast and radio show like a lot of other radio shows do
Howard still puts on a stellar show. I love how 90% of his interviews devolve to therapy talk and Daddy issues.
Yeah, Howie, I think Ari's problem is that he needs to do more sets........
The current generation of entertainment consumers already find Stern irrelevant compared to Shaffir, let alone Rogan lmaooo
Howard definitely knows who ari is….dude had his own tv show and gave it up lol
Are you talking about “This Is Not Happening.”? If you are, he didn’t give that gig up. It was taken away from him.
Howard is stuck in the late 80s and he never came back 😂
You missed Aris final response he did on his skeptic tank podcast. He privated it for some reason but it was the nail in the coffin that shut Stern up for good. It was the first time Howard lost a war of words. I wish I could find it but it seems to be scrubbed of the internet.
Excellent video, always great points!
Class from Joe, he seems like a truly nice guy
We have Joe to blame for all these podcast comics
As a 26 year old, I'm pretty sure my generation just views Howard as that creepy old guy that hangs around celebrities but nobody really knows why.
Dude,it's so sad. Howard was epic in the 90s.
Seems that Howard has the same attitude towards podcasts as old boxing guys had towards mma
