with the holes you are cutting to do repairs it's easier to use a step drill than an Enox cutter. Was the windscreen that Amir broke come from Krakatoa 🤣🤣🤣😁 On the pump you could fiber glass some aluminium strips to give it strength.. I off to enjoy my OBBY
Gary, We will use a step drill as the repairs need to be flush. I have already started to use some strengthening on the pump and I will do the same to the whole fibreglass shell as it‘s a bit flimsy atm. Cheers Dave
Les, Thanks very much TBH it probably wasn't a economically viable project as I will be lucky to get my money back but I did want to see it go to scrap. Cheers Dave
@@ClassicCarCave yes i understand entirely ,, you may not remember as my names changed on here ,, whilst you where buidling your track mini i was the guy building the mini 7s for racing here in uk ,, still doing it ,, ive spent in ecess of 17 grand now ,, i would have been better off buying one allready finished lol ,, im still building this one
Hi Dave. Was the mini a complete car ? As you say those door frames are in amazing condition as are the wings and front panel . Beer keg is a "must do" 😅😅 cheers !
John, It wasn't complete but around 75% I have the original engine gearbox and some running gear. I will measure a key up and see what I can do. Cheers Dave
Looking fantastic Dave. I would agree to just drill those holes out on the front fender. Speaking of shipping Mini parts, I made probably the biggest mistake since starting to work on mine, where I put so much pressure on the MC to bleed the brake it shot a hole into the MC res😢I am looking at getting a new MC and Gunson bleed kit from Minisport and bringing that into the country myself. Luckily work for a clearing and forwarding company so will see how low we can pay for shipping and then I can also clear the cargo. My car was also originally blue which they painted black afterwards.
Thanks very much. I think drilling out the patch over the repeater opening will be easier to get a flush repair on the wings. Sorry to hear your having a few problems but I‘m sure you will get it fixed and these things are sent to try us 🤔I have never understood why the UK said yes to leaving the EU we were stronger together. Cheers Dave
@@ClassicCarCave Hi Dave. For sure sir, always try and do a job as neat as possible is my way of doing it as well. Thank you very much. I got the Mini as a project and it surely is, when it happened I felt so bad however I am already planning on getting the parts to me and do a slight upgrade on the MC. Would you suggest running the GMC227 over the GMC195? I am looking at getting that, locally it is so expensive
Looking good. Old fashioned toughened glass screens are dangerous. Much better to use a laminated one. I guess all the layers of colour have contributed to keeping the tin worm away from the doors, boot and bonnet. same they didn’t paint underneath.
Your refurbished workshop looks good- the white walls and lighting must make for a far better working environment. I believe it’s true about the more recent minis being built from inferior steel.
Thanks it‘s a lot easier to see what you're doing with the white walls as it reflects the light better. The older cars defiantly had better quality steel. Cheers Dave
Look into Cornelius kegs....they're what Pepsi and Coca Cola used for pre-mix prior to putting their syrup in bags in boxes.....you can fill them with home brew and carbonate them with Co2....or get a brew in a box....worlds your lobster with those once you have the serving mechanisim/beer machine...😊

It certainly went with a bang and the mess is terrible to clean up. I do think the quality of the steel in cars is not what it was 🤔 Cheers Dave

Interesring. What is the white paint sprayed on the metal parts?
It‘s epoxy primer which is the base coat and we use white primer as it‘s much easier to see any problems with the metalwork finish. Cheers Dave
@ClassicCarCave thanks for the info and for your fast reply, Dave.
