  • This video shows the Garden Warbler calling with a little bit of information to conform to the others in this series. It was compiled from clips captured last year. I waited for this Spring in the hope of getting more unobstructed shots but the Coronavirus outbreak has put paid to any chance of getting more video

The Garden Warbler can best be identified by its habit of keeping hidden behind a leafy twig when singing...;-)

That’s a great observation Alicia. I was hoping to get some clearer leaf-free video this year but they are one of the last warblers to return from Africa deliberately matching their arrival with emergence of willow leaves so it will be pure luck if I see one in the open!

Good evening dear John, and thank you so much for sharing these wonderful birds with us. It was really a pleasure.
Hope it goes better with you over there. Here with us it is almost normal now, but we still have to be careful.
Going to bed now, because I am going up at. 5:30 tomorrow morning.
Up in the mountains to find Bluethroat. They have reported a few hours of sun then.
Hope you have a nice weekend.
    Regards. Knut. Good night.

Thank you dear Knut, sorry about the late reply! We’re still restricted here, only supposed to travel up to 8 kilometres to meet people outdoors but I’ve got to admit I’ve been travelling 13.5 kilometres to walk by a river on my own to see if I could get any better footage of the Garden Warbler (no) or see Beautiful Demoiselles (yes) - the subject of my next video. I love those early morning starts when I would visit Goldcliff at dawn but it’s still not possible. Good luck with your Bluethroat, one bird I’d love to see but very rare here.

Good day my good friend. Nice to hear that you are allowed to move out again. Good to get out again, I would think.
      Demoiselles is that Demoiselle crane?
I found the Bluethroat, it still sang in the same place I found it on Monday. A fantastic morning concert. It will be the next movie.
      Wish you a nice day.
      Regards. Knut.

@@knutfugl 2 Days ago, I'm very late with this reply, no the Demoiselles are damselflies. Great news about the Bluethroat, looking forward to it. Best wishes, John

Thank you JD, they’re a tricky one because you rarely get to see them clearly as they’re always hiding behind the foliage. I did my best, would have liked more open shots! 🥴
