    I have used spray adhesive for upholstery work for years. I’m am also a Custom Decorator, used to design, fabricate and install commercial awnings which led to a Commercial Contractors license. I am semi retired and about to spray a bunch of kitchen cabinets in my own home. You guys are awesome and I applaud you passing on your knowledge to others. I have always believed we should share what we know and help others. I’ve watched many of you videos and love your work! I

    Thanks, I never considered using 3m 77 for that. I really like using 3m 77 since it is more convenient to use than contact cement.

    Like to know how durable you’ve found this to be for mor permanent uses, I’m thinking of using a heavier (6mil) plastic to line a clothes shot, what’s your thoughts on this?

    Great idea in a pinch using end rolls left over, However, we use to use the "120", "99" and "48" 3M for the hand maskers. Yes it's a bit expensive but it saves on labor, Besides our clients always got the best, One man could hang out a kitchen pretty quick as the plastic already has a static cling built in . Love the 3M sundries line of masking products

    I was looking for how to paint that plastic, but an adhesive might do the trick for my needs! I forgot about that stuff! Thanks.. And please remember to use sprays like that with an aspirator if you’re indoors. That spray in your lungs will cause irreversible damage.

    Can paint go through the gap though if you were spraying near it?

    • @Idahopainter

      Not if you bond it together

  • @SuperWoodyboy
    @SuperWoodyboy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    so how do you keep from getting adhesive from getting all over the clients stuff?

    • @okkrom
      @okkrom 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SuperWoodyboy Such a dumb question. Its like asking; "And how do you avoid scratching every wall in the house while moving all that painting equipment around?" Same answer applies to both questions.
      Be careful with masking tape, it can blind you if you get some in your eyes!

    • @SuperWoodyboy
      @SuperWoodyboy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yer an ass...i saw how they were spraying that damn adhesive and it was flying everywhere...if it were my property i'd be damn upset with adhesive residue on my cabinet and floor.....it's a dumb idea unless you want to spend time in court and pay settlements!

      I use 77 adhesive with my college students to spray mount their artwork to presentation boards; cleanliness is part of their grade. If they can do it without making a mess I trust a professional painter can do the same. And if a painter I hired couldn't do that with a simple spray can I'd look for another painter.

    • @okkrom
      @okkrom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was somewhat of an ass you are right. But I am tired of people with the kind of attitude you are displaying.
      There is nothing bad about what they are doing, its a great tip and a smart one, yet you try your hardest to find something critical and negative to say. You hurry to vomit that you found a flaw, a failure, not even taking the time to write a decent sentence.
      That is despicable in itself but then when you get called out on your unnecessary criticism, instead of backing off or reconsidering, you add another layer of bullshit and lies to try and hide the fact you where talking shit in the first place.
      In good faith, I re-watched the video since you claimed you saw ''it was flying everywhere'' . It is not possible to see any particles flying around in HD. And the reason is that spray adhesive is a lot heavier than paint, there is very little volatile particles, which I knew for having worked with it many times. And even if it was flying everywhere, the cabinets and floors are already covered so what would you be upset about?!

    • @kmorgz4556
      @kmorgz4556 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      SuperWoodyboy your question is NOT dumb.
      Spraying any kind of aerosols inside of a house without having furniture and floors masked off would be a risk. In the video, just about everything is masked off. I’m guessing most of the room was already masked off before the started this new trick.
      3M adhesive is not hard to use, but it could easily destroy furniture and carpet with overspray or dripping. It’s not washing off.
      Spraying an art board is much different than spraying long strips of plastic, and then applying plastic to plastic without having it fold up or rub on something in the house.
      3M Hand-Masker in my opinion is the way to go.

    What size tip do you use on the adhesive can to control the over spray?😊

    • @krazykarl0
      @krazykarl0 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shongo 2k I have used that exact can of spray adhesive before... The nozzle sprays glue in a small stream with no overspray. It would be very easy to "draw" a line across the seam on the plastic.

    • @shongo2k15
      @shongo2k15 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      krazykarl0 yes, I've used the adhesive several times. I was just joking with Chris and John. Anytime they spray, they're kind enough to tell us the tip size. Peace and happy painting!

      77 is Some potent stuff, The one I use (red can) would eat right through thin plastic, Is there a water base type that I not aware of?

  • @sigor2011
    @sigor2011 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Do you guys find that you use an enormous amount of materials per paint job that you end up dumping after every job. Loke all this plastic and paper and such. Seems like this creates lots of unnecessary waste.

    • @silverlinepainting660
      @silverlinepainting660 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sigor2011 i would argue that its necasarry waste. 50$ in plastic is cheaper than many thousands in liability
