If u mask the frame of the window instead of the wall u will prevent from having to repaint and possibly flashing around the window. It will also help to not blow the plastic off and u can spray the window seal.
Wouldn't it be better to tape it to the window glass since the trim guy has to remove the plastic to trim? And the trim might get spray painted as well so we wouldn't want to install the plastic twice?
Hey Josh Happy New Year my friend!!! I guess I've been out of the construction business way too long, that "window taping gadget" is the neatest thing I've seen in a while, I know, sounds kinda "nerdy" lol 😆. Some things ya just don't keep up with nowadays. KEEP ON BRING'N BUDDY!!! 👍👍 Jay.
I always hated prep on lived in homes, the masking is so annoying, new houses always fun to work in but half the time the base and door frames were already installed so masking those was annoying as well.
You loaded the tape onto the masker wrong. The tape is supposed to go UNDER the plastic guide pin as soon as it comes off the roll. You have it going over the top and the adhesive is dragging on the guide and it's not allowing the tape to align with your plastic film perfectly.
@TheExcellentLaborer we just did all the trim of our scandi home . All the sheen .. walls and trim ( eggshell ) turned put fantastic and even looks different sheen . Happy to share if your interested
It has to be up to the window. Why 1 inch away ? You'll leave a margin on the wall which needs to be sanded and then painted by brush/roller .....It won't match the finish. It's not just half of the job that you're doing ,you're creating more work .Sorry I don't agree with you .A good prep is half of the job
If you’ll notice, there is no trim around the windows yet. Since he will be installing trim over that one inch margin anyway, nobody will ever see it, and there is no need to sand/finish it.
The Excellent Professor .... exactly like this
Excellent Professor 😃That’s too awesome! Thanks man for stopping by!
With can lights, most of them come with that cardboard pattern. That also works pushing in the can if you the plastic caps were not supplied.
Oh yeah good point David. There is always more than one way to do a job. I appreciate your input!
Always helping out thanks brother
No problem Tyre! Thanks for watching!

He’s a professional painter. Windows going to be cased. This is correct method.
@@TT-ik3kd if you mask the frame of the window you would also have to paint the insides of the window case
💪🏻 nice one mate
Thank you Bruno!

4:18 Me too man. Me too. 😆
Happy New Year Josh.
Quick question. Does that unit adjust for different width rolls of plastic or paper? I know the paper comes in different widths.
Happy New Year to you too David! I believe it can go up to 12 inches. Yes you adjust it per roll.
Just curious you mentioned masking the ceiling to do the walls , why do you not mask the walls to do the ceiling?
cool to see the channels growth- well done- keep it up!!
Thank you Canna! The growth still amazes me. Thank you for watching!
I saw a guy use balloons for about 50 can lights . It worked perfect and he was done in about 15 minutes.
Oh wow that’s a great idea. Thanks for your input Rod! Stay tune for more!

I haven’t seen that holder attachment anywhere
That bit of plastic from the windows would have been appropriate for those sockets
Your tape wasn't on the hand masker correctly.....
I always hated prep on lived in homes, the masking is so annoying, new houses always fun to work in but half the time the base and door frames were already installed so masking those was annoying as well.
The current cost of the 3m hand masker is bonkers.

Instead of cutting the bottom of the plastic just fold it inside you save so much time
Surprised your not installing trim/paint trim then paint walls 🤔
Hey Miki Miki! I spray all my trim and base separate and then install and touch up. Thanks for watching!
@@TheExcellentLaborer great idea
Thanks

You must be rich using that wide tape on the masker 🙃
