Hey Matt, Firefighter here as well. Couple of notes. Stop by your local firehouse and see what they have to say. They will help you for sure.
1) Most important, make sure you get a tank with baffles or keep that thing 100% full or you will end up flipping offroad.
2) You can get away with a way smaller hose as well. Most wildland hose is 1" in diameter soft hose. Most structural hose is 1 3/4". For reference I did the math, for a 95 gpm nozzle you'd need to be pumping roughly 130-150 psi at the pump into the hose.
3) definitely plumb yourself a manifold off of the pump. You want numerous valves with numerous options. Anytime the pump is running you want a tank return line to recirculate water so the pump doesn't overheat or wear. you can hear how unhappy it is when you close the nozzle. This will also allow you to have another valve to have your nozzle that you wanted at the pump as well as another valve for a hose reel.
4) Hose reel is definitely the way to go for convenience but having regular hose has its benefits as well. Research how to fold it any you will be set. Tons of ways to store and deploy it easily.
5) Throw the pistol grip off of the nozzle. You want to get that thing out in front of you so you can swing it around. Having the pistol grip makes your tendency to keep it close in to your body which makes it harder.
6) we don't use cam lock in the fire service but I don't have any experience on it. I would switch to hard plumbing for everything between the tank and the pump though and keep the hard suction to refill from a pond or pool.

I agree and I am not a fire fighter, but I have messed with plenty of spray rigs and used a lot of trash pumps. No offense Matt, but we call those trash pumps. I agree above but you could just T in your outlet and valve the 1.5 fire hose and keep spooled. use the other as the 1 inch like talked about above. Cam locks will work okay with your set up and leave you a out for water out of a pond, just use a big suction with screen so you don't get a lot of mud or trash. Your going to hate that tank not baffled and yes black would be a lot better.
I can speak to the cam locks. I work for a utilities construction company so we use pumps and hoses a lot for wellpoints, and other types of drainage. We have cam locks on all of our hoses and don’t have problems with it. Just make sure there’s a gasket in the female end when you hook them up and that there isn’t a bunch of mud on the mating surface because that might inhibit the cams from locking.
Another firefighter here. Definitely good advice here. Would also agree that trashline/ brush line on a reel in 1" is probably best way to go with multiple port options. Not 100% sure but thought that was a cloth jacket hose. Make sure you dry those out after getting them wet.

Matt I've been a firefighter for over 35 years, what you need is a 1" hose reel commonly known as a booster line or a trash line that will solve all your problems it's a hard line so it won't kink it's on a reel so you can just roll it up and pull out what you need

Hey Matt, from chatting with our local sugar cane farmers, I've picked up a few things over the years that may be useful:
1) Having the tank as close to the center of the wheels is better.
2) It might be a good idea to mount the tank across the bed rather than inline, and as far toward the cab as possible, and with the outlet toward the driver side. That way you can put an elbow and valve right up front as you get out to get the water on as fast as possible without having to run around to the other side or climb up on the bed to open the valve.
3) If you install the electric start on it, put the starter switch on the drivers side as well, for the same reason. If you keep the pull start, some motors let you unbolt the pulley cover and rotate it, so you might be able to pull start it from the ground if you can orient it to be reachable from the side of the bed.
4) With the outlet on the side, you can also tee off and put a faucet on the side. It's just a surprisingly useful addition to be able to get some water without having to start everything up. Small fires that are just starting might only need a bucket of water to extinguish.
5) With larger water tanks you definitely want to have baffles in the tank to prevent the mass of water moving around from moving the truck around. I'd imagine that's even more important with the tank sitting so high up.
6) With gas pumps it's a good idea to put a recirculation valve in to feed water back into the tank when the nozzle is closed. The flow of water through the pump serves as a coolant, and having the pump running without water moving can cause problems. (Electric pumps have pressure regulators that switch the pump off when there is no flow)
That pump definitely needs a return line to the tank for when it's idling, it does NOT sound happy!

Hey Mat, I'm a metal fabricator at a firetruck dealership in Florida and I have built some brush trucks. You should really plumb in a recirculation valve so that when your pump is running and you're not flowing water it will go back into your tank, that will keep you pump from overheating.
I was just going to say the same thing, I have a unit for my pickup with a reel and pump. You can use a bypass line back into the tank with a valve on it to regulate the bypass pressure.

Hey Matt. I’m a firefighter in Clovis NM. Huge fan of the channel. Lots of good comments on here.
Keep the red hose. Just fold it how your local FD does. We use a (triple lay). Makes deployment 3x faster.
Get a gated wye for the pump. That would allow a nozzle to be mounted on the bed of the truck for really fast fire attack. A mounted smooth bore nozzle would work well.
Baffles for the tank would make driving it more safe. Filter for hard suction of lake is a good idea.
Remember that having your own truck doesn’t mean you don’t need a Fire Departments help. Call them first. Then start your attack.

@MMVPN Sports anytime I see someone with an MTV or LMTV, I look to see if the lock pins are in. A lot of people that get them and they don't know much about them, they don't even realize the cab has air ride and don't know to check the transport lock pins. I hope he sees it too because I know that truck is bouncing him all over the cab. Haha

MATT, "CAUTION", if that tank doesn't have baffles in it, you might not want to use it as a permanent option. With the water sloshing around in there, it could tip your truck over in rough terrain. Have a tank built from heavy aluminum diamond plate with baffles. And a lower profile that is spread out more over the bed of the truck. That set up you have will be very top heavy & dangerous on rough roads. And center the tank over the rear axle.

USAF Aircraft firefighter here. You have a good system going so far. Most rural brush trucks have a remote nozzle on the bumper to fix your hose issue. Your pump and tank will last you longer than you think but make sure and carry an extra fuel can with you. We use s stewie on one of the volunteer depts out here and the truck is a beast.
From a firefighter - buy a floating strainer and a separate piece of hard suction hose to use for pulling water from a water source to fill your tank. Also can get a floating gas powered pump that could fill the tank while flowing water
You're going to find out very quickly that you need a tank with baffles in it. All of that water sloshing in the tank is going to make the ride...thrilling.

Yeah, if it’s half full, a ton of water going sideways will not be fun on a sideslope. Can get some perforated drain pipe, the black stuff on big rolls, and just stick a bunch in the tank. Will baffle it “ok” without taking up a ton of capacity.

Someone else already mentioned it but, yeah, you're gonna need to paint the tank or something. Sunlight shining into that clear tank is gonna cause algae to grow which can stop up your nozzles.
Ok this is kind of weird but I used to pump algae at an algae lab while in college. It depends on the algae (which ones? Idk it was the highest paying job on campus and I didn't ask questions) some algae types can be thick and others aren't. I used pumps like this all the time to transfer the algae. I never had an issue in the year I worked there.

I clean swampy algae filled pools, pumps can handle algae no problem, I use harbor freight pumps to drain pools.

ATTENTION!! PULL START FROM THE GROUND...take off the screws around the starter rope coil, rotate the starter cage to be the right angle to start while standing on the ground, and put the screws back in...BAMMO! (Tip from Steve’s small engine repair, TH-cam)

I am a volunteer firefighter and I really think that you are going to end up wanting a tank with baffles so that it doesn't slosh around so much and instead of the larger 2.5" hose, we only use 1.5" hose on a booster reel that makes it easy to put up and flows plenty of water for your common brush fires.

yep. People don't think about that. With a large tank sloshing around it can actually move the truck in unexpected ways when brake hard or turn hard.

There is no need for baffles if the water tank is 100% full, and it's not like he is in a rush to get ready to put out the next fire, when driving back with half a tank, and also just make sure there is a breather on top, so you don't implode the tank.
Also make sure you truck is standing in a dry place, equipment that's standing dry is a lot more reliable, something like Romney huts are pretty affordable.
I would also mount the fire/water pump under the bed of the truck for easy operation, and maybe have one on both sides of the truck, having a backup is never a bad thing.

So a lot of brush trucks have a brush hose that is slightly smaller than your 2 1/2 inch hose. That should give you a little more pressure. The brush hose is also rigid and goes of a hose reel that mounts on the back of the truck.
Without baffles in the tank, be cautious, baffles help to reduce the effect of weight sloshing in turns etc, which in turn can cause a roll over

You need a different tank get one that is black so algae doesn't grow in your tank and make sure it has baffles so the water doesn't slosh around.
Hopefully he sees this. This is a huge thing, unless you plan on keeping the tank empty.
Have one like that at work algae is always a problem.Have to keep bleach in it or have it empty all the time.
a quick fix can be bleach but not too much

Hi from a Danish firefighter
Even though we use other couplings here (storz coupling) you aren’t wrong to have at least one soft hose, they are way easier to carry a long distance, and extend if needed.
Hard hose in Denmark is called HT (høj tryk- High Pressure) because they need a pressure of 20 bar (not sure what that is in psi), but it’s substantially higher than what your pump can deliver.
We use the HT at 80% of the fires, and they are excellent an rollable, although our type need special rolls, because the hose needs to be quite sturdy to take the pressure. Ours are 70 meters long (210 feet long approx.) these are with snap coupling and those are then need for our nozzles and the pump
My advice, new pump, and if you decide going for hard hose, you will need some special roller for it to be worth it... we use Dräger as our supplier but I have seen alternations from Rosenbauer, and CSR which all are the biggest suppliers in the EU, they have compatibility checkers and so on, for easy introduction and buying experience
It’s nice to see what you have! And it’s plenty for just on the ranch, but ease of use and nice to haves HT is nice to have, and a bigger pump is a must 😊🚒🚒🧯

GIANT SLIP N’ SLIDE! Get a 100’ long sheet of visqueen and a few sand bags to weigh it down. Then find a nice grassy hill at a park and use the fire truck for a giant slip n’ slide. It is seriously so much fun!

You should do a bypass line on the discharge side of the pump back into the tank, so when the hose nozzle is off and the pump engine is still running you’re aren’t dead heading the pump causing damage.

Yes pressure relief like a power washer. He will burn up the pump.
@@AwesomeGames56 Yeah. You could attach something like the bleeder valves that you see on hydraulic systems. When the pressure gets high enough, the valve gets opened and releases the extra fluid into wherever.
I would recommend a booster line, usually comes in 100' reels.. it would be 1" and if you get a good one it'll have a electric roll up feature!
I'm a volunteer firefighter for a small town in lower Alabama. We mostly deal with brush fires. That hose is meant to be an attack line. I wouldn't put a hose reel on it, however, I'd build a box a little lower than the bed to fold the hose in the box. I would also suggest putting a manifold in with a second hose coupling for a smaller line with a hose reel.
Points to consider:
* learning hose handling is part of the job.
* Fitting a discharge manifold will let you easily fit different size hoses and choose which one to use via quarter turn valves.
* While rushing to put out any fire - Remember to call out the fire service too. You won't have enough water, hoses or ability to tackle a huge fire and will need the professional support.
*You'll have fuel, engine, pump, etc fitted to that truck - so carry a pair of proper fire extinguishers too.
* If the truck is on stand-by it Must have water ready too. There will be no time to top off its water tank when a fire is spotted.
* Secure all loose equipment against movement with some quick release fittings and keep everything in regular places so you never have to search for anything.
* Train as a fire fighter.

I think training for a fire fighter is a huge thing. its not just a small thing to do.
And because you'll need the tank filled and ready, install a sight glass and paint your tank black to cut down on algae growth.
100% agree couldn't say it better!!! Use fuel stabilizer in the pump too.... gloves, pants, shirts, ect in case it gets a little out of control.... rakes/ shovels..... bleech the rank so algae doesn't form..... tons of stuff to consider.
Manifold is a must if you want different size hoses in my opinion then you’re not in a bind trying to switch out hoses in an emergency. You can leave all hoses hooked up as well
Just bring the whole rig by a fire house near you and let them give you advice on placement and product to use.

You should get a flater tank to bring down your point of weight, and maybe you could move the pump like on the side under the Truck, and get a like an hydrant to switch between pumping, sucking, and maybe the short hose.

I’m a firefighter in California. What you need off your pump is a gated-Y if you want a long attack house and a hard line for the back of the truck. I’d recommend keeping the regular synthetic fire hose as your attack line, if you get a hard line it’s going to be a pain in the butt. But that’s my 2 cents
If you are wanting to have the option to pump from a dirty water source like a lake or river you should also have a large filter to put on the hose or else you will pick up junk(fish,mud,plants) into your pump.
Junk, and possibly small creatures or fish.
You only need a strainer keep big stuff out.

As well as a secondary hard line, otherwise how does the water go back in if you're already using it on the other side of the pump?
Just a resident Firefighter with not much experience, but I have a few suggestions.
1. A baffled tank will help a lot with water weight shifting on turns.
2. You might not need a bigger pump but 2.5" can flow at 250 or even more gallons per minute with the right nozzle
3. Our brush trucks of a similar size carry 750 gallons, which is a lot.
4. we use Gallonage pumps on our brush trucks as opposed to pressure pumps, I'm not sure what you have
5. Our brush trucks don't use 2.5" lines because we don't typically need to flow that much water for this setting, and we want the water we have to last longer
6. if you use a hose reel you need a rigid hose because the water won't flow through a flat hose
LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT!!!! EVEN IF YOU HAVE A PISTOL GRIP DON'T USE IT, JUST HOLD THE HOSE LIKE A MAN (you'll have more control of your stream too)
For your hose, get a 1 1/4" booster line. You can get a line a real off of an old firetruck. For splitting we use what's called a gated Y. Keep in mind with a fully loaded tank offroad, you will snap those straps in no time. Way too much weight. Also get some spanner wrenches for your fittings. And if you really want to get more fire aligned Get some Storz connectors to put everything together. If you want to keep the connector running off of the tank, drill a hole in the handle and put a push/pull rod in it that you can access from the side of the truck. Hope this helps.
You need to get a filter so when you get water out lakes and stuff you don’t have to worry about fish and sticks getting in your tank
Working at a Marina we used similar pumps to pump out boats that were sinking. Yes you definitely need some kind of filter/strainer to keep stuff out of the pump. Also we used the cam lock fittings on all our pumps. Saltwater can cause problems with them if they aren't maintained however I doubt that would be a problem for you.

Think about 4500lbs of water moving one direction in a turn, that tank is designed to sit in one spot in a shed or next to a house, you gotta combat the momentum with baffles.
Matt, make sure that with the tank being white it will allow sunlight (UV) into the tank and will cause algae/bacteria growth in there. That water will get nasty very quickly. Make sure to drain it pretty regularly. We usually recommend black water tanks when outdoors to keep the sunlight out. 😋
Not a firefighter but I do booster treatments and am familiar with this setup.
1. Get a booster line
2. Get a Booster reel that comes with a valve.
Before turning off the pump, close the valve to the reel. It'll keep the line primed and you don't have to pull the entire hose out to use it.

Matt, you should have got a tanks with internal baffles to keep the water from sloshing around and potentially rolling the truck in a turn. The pump is known as a trash pump. If your mostly worried about brush fires you should have got forestry hose which is much smaller than your 2 1/2 inch hose and way lighter or a booster reel like an earlier commenter said. Bottom line be very careful driving the truck when the tank has water in it.

Also what will make the tank safer, would be a tank with Dividers like tanker trailers and trucks have, as that will eliminate alot of forward and backwards momentum of the water stored.

For your truck I recommend 1inch hose, that's what we use for brush fires.
We fight with 1 inch hose we only carry 750 gallon so u have to preserve it as much as possible

Plenty of homes were saved from kitchen fires and dryer fires by a good ole booster reel! Miss the days of getting in and getting water on it fast. Aggressive interior attacks have been pushed out by hitting it hard from the yard babys...
my suggestions (as someone who has run fire tankers):
take your 100ft hose and cut ~10ft off and slap some cam locks on the raw ends. use the 10ft as the primary and the rest as the secondary.
i would do the same with the rigid hose or get a smaller rigid hose so you can fill from some place. however, unless you have a water source, there's no point in planning for a water source you don't have. on that note, typically, the fill is plumbed in a way that doesn't allow you to release water back into the source. that is generally done by mounting a pipe that drops through the top of the tank with an air gap.
skip the hose reel and go check out how the fire trucks do it. they sometimes do a kind of folded roll that deploys fast and keeps the fittings available from the outside.
if you're going to do a "y", plumb in some boomless nozzles on 12v solenoids mounted on the truck. typically, a water tanker will have the 4 corners and the center in front covered so that they can knock down flames to get in and out of areas safely.
finally... your tank should probably be metal... poly melts easier and that can also be a problem.
You can also look into an electric start for the pump. Build a small box to keep your flat hose in. You can look up a firefighter flat lay for hose. If you plan on drafting or sucking water from a pond or water source to fill the tank I would look into a low level strainer for the cam-lock fitting and hose.
You really should have gotten a tank with baffles to keep the water weight shift down.

@@Fannatic942 As a former apparatus driver, I have felt the effects of the water shift even with baffles and with none at all, it could flip a truck even the size of Matt's or break the mounting and roll off the truck destroying anything it falls on.

I’m no firefighter but I use those pumps daily for water filtration. That gas tank will run about 2.5-3 hrs straight before needing fuel. And don’t worry about putting a bypass on it. It strains down under load but it’s a centrifugal pump that bypasses automatically after about 25psi head pressure. It does put a lot of load on the motor so I use synthetic oil and change it every 36 hrs of run time. On big jobs we run em 12 hrs straight every day and they hold up really well.
As a small engine guy, you need to run non-ethanol gas with fuel treatment in it so it won't go bad and clog up your carburetor.
Matt, maybe take a trip to your local Fire Department and see if they have any tips for your setup

Those honda pumps can be fitted with an electric start, so you could have a Start button on the side and the pull cord as backup in the bed of the truck.

You should mount a hose bed so you can pull your attack line from either side. Attack line is the red hose. Also you will need to have a place to hang dry your hose after it’s been used. Stops it from rotting.
Hose reel is handy but has higher price tag attached so you have to weigh our options. Good luck and let me know if I can answer any questions. 😀

Hey Matt to solve 2 of your problems get a 1-1/2 to 1-1/2 gated wye and you can put a 50' section of hose on the other half of the wye. And for rolling your hose look up a twin/double dounut roll. Just letting you know as a firefighter who is somewhat familiar with type 4, 5, 6 engines for wildland I would recommend a wildland hose so 100ft 1 1/2 inch hose at the largest. Wildland is high pressure low volume. You shouldn’t need to go above 100 psi for the pump so it doesn’t need to be a large pump but if you keep the 2 1/2 I think it will struggle. I would recommend talking with your local fire department and they might even give you some old out of service fittings and things like that. They can at least set you on the right path cause I see a couple things I would recommend changing.
Matt, because it's a white/clear plastic tank, if it's not getting emptied very often you should chuck some bleach in the water to stop it getting green and full of algae. Don't need much and it's still safe if you need it for drinking water (it's what we do over here in little old NZ).

Sodium hypochlorite degrades very quickly in sunlight and is corrosive, would be best to paint the tank.

I think you need a water pressure recycle valve back to the tank. It will prevent cavitation in the pump when the hose is off and the pump is running.
Hey Matt I worked in the the environmental field for a while and if you plan on sucking water from a lake or pond you will need a strainer to make sure your water is clean of debris
Hi Matt, you can try to fit that pump on the side of the truck right under the truck's bed. It will give you an easy access to the pump and good chances to use the fuel tank that already there without adding extra fuel pump and hoses.
If you plan on leaving water in the tank you should have got a black tank because the clear one will allow sun light to shine through causing algae and other things to grow which much plug up the pump or hose

Make sure your water tank is vented so you don’t collapse it in on itself.
I work for a utility company and we have a couple of pumps exactly like this one. The pump will last for 5-6 hours on a tank of gas and will pump huge amounts of water. I wouldn't worry about pluming to the gas tank.
I'd recommend for your application, use what we call a booster hose. Approx 1-1 1/2 inches in diameter. Would work probably best for what you want. Decent flow for smaller stuff, easier to handle as you can keep it on a power retract wheel, not NEARLY as heavy while charged, and not pushing back hard enough to need a 2 man crew. I've been a volunteer with a small town crew in new York since I was a senior in highschool, I'm not expert but I hope that helps!
If you want to draft water out of a lake or body of water, I recommend having a strainer for the end of the hard suction line. Without that, particles and debris will get into your pump and you'll find that the pump wont work that well anymore.

Hey Matt, I am a Fire Cadet at station 77 and I suggest getting a booster reel for master chief. But keep the red 2.5” hose for bigger jobs.
I use braided hoses with cam locks at work. One thing I will definitely recommend when using them with pumps that create pressure is a bleed off valve to relieve the pressure before unhooking the hose. Water can be as dangerous as any chemical.
You should mount the pump under the bed in front of one of the wheels so you can access and start it from the ground. It doesn't need to be up on the bed with the water tank. And put connections to fill the water tank down there too so you don't have to climb up to fill it every time

I was thinking the same thing. That & put an electric start on the pump so you can focus on mounting it in a way that's best for the lines instead worrying about clearance for pull start. Mounting it under the bed would also allow you to plumb hard lines under the bed so they are safe/out of the way (leaving the bed behind the tank clear/usable if needed)

Matt you need a A deluge gun, fire monitor, master stream or deck gun is an aimable controllable high-capacity water jet used for manual firefighting or automatic fire protection systems. Deluge guns are often designed to accommodate foam which has been injected in the upstream piping.
Make sure the pump case is drained when/if below freezing outside or it will crack!!
Matt, when running a load on a truck or a trailer that is near your max of the vehicle you need to center the mass over the axle as much as possible. Otherwise you're going to flex the frame and it's going to break. Just like your old flat trailer did.
Just remember that the water in the tank moves. If you slam on the brakes all that weight is coming towards you. My father who was a milkman had a buddy who’s load came through both the box and the cab and crushed him.

Mount the pump down low on the back of the truck and put a 1” rigid hose reel back there. You will have the pump accessible to start from the ground and you can gravity feed fuel to the motor from that big gas tank under the truck bed. Everything will be easy to access from the ground if you just mount it all on the back either under the truck bed to just above the back bumper area.
Matt I have been a firefighter and instructor for 19 years I have some training videos to show you how to load and deploy that hose you have and make life easier until you get some booster line. Let me know.
When you are not flowing water with the engine running, you really need to install a relief valve on the discharge so the pump isn’t dead heading. The relief valve routes the flow back to the tank.
This is very important. Especially if you want to stop and start your discharging.

You may have to go to 1.5” hose, we were running 160 gpm on a smooth bore nozzle training on a 1 3/4” hose and the hose was collapsing a little bit. With that fog nozzle you might be alright but you need to be able to keep the hose inflated so that it doesn’t kink then flail all over the place when it re inflates the kink. Plus if you get a four way valve you should be able to switch from pumping water to filling your tank just by manipulating the four way valve. Booster hose is more common for brush fires which would be the rubber cover solid hose that you put on a reel. Also if you make a plywood hose bed you can either do a flat load or a minute man load or probably five others that allow you to flake out the hose without kinks very quickly. Also our pumper trucks commonly only carry 1,000 gallons and full bore high flow multiple hose lines we can drain it in 7 minutes or less, so 500 is a significant amount. Hey Matt. why don't you turn the water tank sideways on the back of the truck then you will be able to access the valve from the ground. then is it possible to mount the pump on the chassis in the same way the diesel tank fits, maybe on a pull out frame then you can have total access to the pump from the ground too. I agree with your idea for a hard body hose reel as well, much easier and quicker to deploy and retract. Awesome job buddy!
Hey Matt, I'm Vol Fire and one thing my department does is we keep a few metal rakes on our trucks to create a 2 foot gap of bare dirt from the burnt area and the non-burnt ground. this will eliminate the fire from spreading further. Awsome setup man hope this helps!

Hey Matt, I am a firefighter from Florida. I can tell you that you need what we call in the fire service a “Booster Line”. It kind of wraps up as a garden hose does. Although it’s about 1” hose. It should do exactly what you need it to do.

A bit of an FMCSA tip for you.
Those straps will not hold that tank if even slightly filled should you take a corner at enough speed to side surge the tank (water sloshing side to side).
The big flatbed semi straps are usually rated for 4500lbs each. Smaller ones that you buy for pickups around 2500-3000 each. You always want to have a 50% higher load rating at each end than you need, aka two straps or one oversize strap. So with the smaller straps, you want two at each end and one every 6-8' between to prevent load shifting.
It seems like overkill, but once a load starts to move, straps will snap like guitar strings. I had a 10000lb solid steel ingot roll break 8 of the 9 straps and do 360s on my flatbed trailer, only managing to stay on because the lasts strap didn't give out. Chains with adequate tension bars are a much safer option until you bolt it down. A good chain and tension lock is rated for 8000-10000lbs. 3 would keep that thing in place forever.
Hey Matt, I just wanted to suggest that you make sure the fuel is shut off during transport of that pump. Fuel can leak into the intake when the engine is off and vibrating, or if the tank is bouncing around. This fuel can then dilute your oil if it makes it past the intake valve and down the cylinder wall.

Hose reel - use a solid hose. For a fire hose then make a bin to hold it folded and if you need it grab the nozzle and run to get it all off the truck.
We use cam locks for our jet refuelers. Handles the pressure fine, tend to leak a little in very cold temps, shouldn’t be a problem in Texas. Also always need an emergency shut off, the valve works for that but it needs to be easily reachable
you should connect a scuba tank up to your helmet when doing a burnout at cleetus and cars so you don't choke on the smoke again

Hey Matt, you should consider putting in a swimmer in the tank, that messures the waterlevel, to shut your pump of if the water level gets to low, because pumps dont like to run dry and you dont have to monitor your water level manually why hosing down. Recirculate your water to the tank while you are not hosing to prevent overheating your pump. If you want to pump in water from sa lake or stuff like that take a mesh with you for your succionhose that goes into the pond to prevent debree entering your pump, small stuff shouldnt be that much of a problem but a stick could damage your pump

Hey Matt. Maybe someone has already said this, but if you want to be able to swap the direction of that pump, to fill your tank, you need 2 2” cam fittings. Put the reducer after the cam fitting.
Suggestion number one. Swing by your local volunteer fire department and talk to them. They will know what you need on the truck. Suggestion number two: Get a new tank with baffles in it. If the water sloshes around and you’re side hilling to get to the fire, it can roll your big ole truck right over.

you need a hose reel, and you need to move the tank towards the back wheels a couple feet (the get the weight more balanced over the back.
Some sort of lowering shelf to put the pump on for quick access that also holds a hose reel. Fire starts you unlatch the shelf pull down the pump open the water feed and start the pump, pull out hose, and be a hero....😉
Suggestion... You could mount the water pump below the bed but even with fuel tank to use as a siphon if you’re going to draw off the chassis fuel tank and then you can put a motorized terret system on the bed so you can operate with push button in case of small fires and you could still use the hose for big fires that are far away.
Touching on what Jamie said, the 1 1/2 hose you have is primarily for structural fire “residential and or big buildings” booster hose is a soft hose that is used in the forestry service. This hose can be reeled up and is very easy to move around and manipulate. You’d be sacrificing some water pressure for it because it is not as big in diameter but it will far better useful for what you are using it for instead of the structural fire hose. Generally the 1” hose nozzles have “smooth bore” and is just a solid stream of water instead of your fog stream. Careful on water hammering your pump... I’m not to sure if booster line you have to care to much about it but to be safe and not damage your pump just close the nozzle a little slower that way your hose doesn’t burst or if damages your pump.

For the shorter hose, you should just buy a short hose on with a cam lock and have the large one in a spool so if you need to change it just unroll the large one and switch the cam locks in like 10 seconds

All you need is a 1" hardline or wildland fire hose. 2 1/2" hose is used for big fires. Also get a tank with baffles so you dont get water hammered while driving or flip. You also want to flow the pump at which the nozzle is rated, that makes it flow the best.

I’m a plumber and use that type and many other pumps. When he pointed at the top of the pump and called it the intake I started to shake my head saying no. He had it backwards intake to any pump feeds straight into the pump first.
