I would pay to play a fortnite game that highlights their skin's lore and universes like imagine, a whole storyline about the drift clan, or the vampire hunting high school club, or the even the cube queen before the invasion
That idea is sick, imagine a singleplayer adventure where you can discover skins origins in epic story modes, the gameplay could be different from regular fortnite, maybe each skin adventure would be a dlc ? I wouldn’t like it but it’d make more sense.
I really hope that the Lego line does well because it can totally be the gateway towards getting cooler Fortnite merch, it’s very clear that they want to have a lot of merch of the game but just haven’t had much of it really stick the landing
One really underrated merch line that didn’t get a mention in this video is Hasbro’s Victory Royale series. Yeah, they do still have the problem of containing too many accessories, but the figures themselves are absolutely ON POINT. The Skye one especially really impresses me, they do really good on the facial molds. Not to mention the packaging RULES for this line, the art on the box is stunning
Fortnite starting "The Seven Collection" of figures with The Foundation and Scientist and then just NEVER EVER FINISHING OR EVEN CONTINUING IT will forever piss me the fuck off
@@JoJoJosiah I saw them more as like premium figures to be collected as opposed to the other fortnite figurines which justified the price for me. However casual consumers definitely won't want to spend like $30 for ONE character. I'm just extremely biased towards the characters I love. I am desperate for any kind of storyline merch even something as simple as the seven's logo on a shirt or cool posters would get me forking over money.
One of the merch ideas that I strongly had was Fortnite figma figures for the anime themed skins like Lexa, Zoey Clashe, Erisa, Mae, or even the anime style Midas skin. They would be cool to have, especially having good articulation & details plus sensible accessories like multiple facial expressions & hand gestures
Nah, Jazwares’ Fortnite 4” line is INSANELY GOOD. I’ve been collecting the line since it released in 2018. The building tiles weren’t that good WHICH IS WHY Jazwares ditched that gimmick. And as any toy collector would say, you can never have too many accessories. The figures however were awesome, not 1:1 accurate to the game but they were still good quality for the size and the price. Jazwares even upped the quality of them in recent years so that they’d be more accurate and more articulated. Research does not do the line JUSTICE. The line didn’t flop, it outlived Hasbro and McFarlane, it only “stopped” because of Jazwares’ distribution issues. Not because it was a bad product.
I don't get the 'too many accessories' argument with the action figures. Just like skins people have favorite pickaxes / gliders / axes that they'd like a physical representations of to go along with their favorite skins. I like posing my little guys in fun little scenes, and the guns and stuff are essential in my opinion. Like imagine getting a Mace Windu figure with no cool lightsaber and shit; it makes the package feel incomplete and not worth it.
Star wars figures come with 1-2 accessories. There are MULTIPLE fortnite merch items that have 10+ accessories. Not to mention the building mechanic is another completely useless accessory. These drive up the cost of the figures and lower the quality almost every time without fail.
@@JoJoJosiahMaybe I just come from a different side of collecting then, because 10+ really isn't that much compared to some other figures I own that aren't Fortnite related.
I think some of the problem is that Fortnite has sooo many different characters that the fan base is spread thinly over the characters. People will only tend to buy merch of the characters that they love, but those characters might not be the ones that Epic considers the 'main' characters and so no merch is ever made of them. Another thing is just the nature of the game world means it can be hard to have a strong connection to the characters as there's not much dialogue or story elements to make people care about the characters. I also feel like they would make wayyy more money releasing new skins in-game than they would from merch. The convenience of buying a digital item, plus the ability to use that item in the different game modes would have players lean more towards spending money in-game. I have bought Fortnite merch in the past, but currently there isn't really any merch from what I've seen. (Aside from the upcoming Lego sets which look sooo good). In terms of clothing specifically, the t-shirts and stuff they made have all been pretty bad from what I remember. Only clothing item I bought was the Durrr Burger Onesie a few years ago. But the quality of it is not great. It's more of a 'costume' than something you could actually wear as a onesie. I'd love to see more Lego sets, more premium action figures (like the McFarlane ones), and actual cool designs on clothing, rather than t-shirts with 'FORTNITE' written on it and a pic of Peely's face. I also agree with your point about Hope. She has become the 'main character' of Chapter 5 and I'm pretty sure there's zero merch of her. Actually was there even any merch of characters like Slone, The Foundation, etc.? Cos I can't think of any. Overall, I totally agree that Fortnite has always had a merch problem. Hopefully they start making better stuff in the near future. Especially if the Lego sets sell well.
So my Main Backbling in Fortnite is Lil' Gnashy and I actually paid someone to Crochet it for me on Etsy. And that plush Unironically has more quality than most failed FN Merch. Also that Comment you made on the Pokemon Center is true. I went to the site buy a plush if my precious bean daughter Ogerpon to then also buy a Garbador and Chandelure plushie.
Fantastic and funny video JoJo, you were also very well-spoken. You hit on so many of the points that make me frustrated with Fortnite’s way of selling, making and promoting their merchandise and honestly I hope someone who works at Epic will see this video and help bring some change to the merch. We all love this game, and we totally would spend a lot more on Fortnite merch but it can’t be random garbage like you said. They need to make us care, by creating good quality merchandise of characters we all know and love. Also, I hope they don’t mess up with the opportunity they have with LEGO as well. Thank you so much rezztro!! I REALLY hope they lock in with lego and just overall with their IP. I collect SO much stuff from all my favorite games and movies and i want to have WAY more fortnite stuff but it sucks cause 90% of it is so BADDDDD
For me, I'd love to see more detailed clothing/accessory merch like beanies, hoodies, hats, stickers, and more. I saw you show off the dusty diner sticker at 5:07 and I'd love something like that or a sticket set with all of the brands on the island. Or something really out there like vengeance jones's glasses. I really want them to lean into the cool logo and clothing pieces that they've made for their world and faithfully translating them for us to buy.
If they made like good Fortnite plushies, shirts of like the seven and stuff that don't scream I AM FROM FORTNITE, And figures like that scientist one I'd be all in on buying stuff. I have bought 1 piece of Fortnite merch ever in my 6 years of playing it and that was the victory royale scientist on sale for like $15. I bought it because i like the character and it actually looked good (unlike 99% of other Fortnite merch)
