- An opening day attraction at Disney's California Adventure. Intended as the spiritual center of the park, this 70mm history epic has been replaced by the Little Mermaid ride. I worked on both attractions. I was VFX supervisor on this one. We did the Chinese RR sequence, the 50s montage, and the cloudy finale musical montage. Plus the statues and miscellaneous other VFX bits.

Sadly a lot of California themed attractions went away when DCA moved towards IPs vs California inspired ones.
I think Soarin is one of the few that survived

I really love this show that it shows the history of California that I was born in 2004 that features Whoopi Goldberg that is my favorite childhood actor that made special appearances in Sesame Street. Thank you for bringing this beloved centerpiece of the attraction to California Adventure.

I can't tell you what a thrill it is to see this beautiful film again. It really holds up! I always loved Bruce Broughton's score for this attraction. I only wish the full load/unload music was on this video -- but beggars can't be choosers, and I am grateful that you shared this lost treasure. Thank you!

@@EnlightenedByKnowledge That is really good enough now. I wish you VFX supervisors have access to the source videos of Magic Journeys, Captain EO, and Honey I Shrunk the Audience from Epcot, and Seasons of the Vine from Disney's California Adventure.

I hoped this was about the all woman island that we now call California. Where the queen ruled and they didn’t allow men unless they were hired help. These women were pathogenetic (made babies without men). The story before the colonizers and immigrants. That’s the only story I’m interested in. Thanks for trying tho.
You do understand this is from a Disney California adventure, attraction ride? It covers the history of California at various key points from different points of view.
