The fact that we got the non canon 187th clones based off some random toy like 20 years ago but they can’t even give us droids that played a prominent role in the clone wars.
Yeah I agree, I really like the 187th cones but I feel if they are going to go that random with clone troopers then we should be getting at least 1 or two more droid variants.
I agree that the regular battle droids to not need to be remade. To redesign the B1 droids to improve articulation will require adding bulk to the figure so that it meets LEGO's durability requirement. The droids have a nice slender look to them in LEGO form, which is hard enough as it is. People need to be careful with what they ask for. Look what happened to the Stormtrooper redesign. The added bulk to the helmet for more accurate detail makes the figure look worse overall. Yeah, the helmet looks great when it's off the figure, but on the figure, it looks like Family Guy.
I agree wholeheartedly that we need more Droids. I’d also LOVE to see a new MTT because that’s my favorite Star Wars vehicle. It’s so weird how Lego mostly just makes sets with Clones. There’s a lot of cool stuff that can be done with Droids. Something I’d LOVE to see, but know sadly will not ever happen is Command and Conquer Lego sets. There’s a wide variety vehicles and troops that could give be used to make a pretty fleshed out and varied line. Unfortunately, C&C was basically killed by EA, rts games are super niche, and modern Lego probably wouldn’t want to be associated with C&C (Megablocks would be a better bet in this purely hypothetical scenario that won’t happen because they have a long running Halo line). I looked up C&C Lego Mocs and sadly didn’t find a lot. I hope that people start making those.
Yes a set based off that episode in Rebels would be awesome. It could come with Ezra, Kanan, old Rex, a tactical droid, a B1 droid, and super battle droid.
For the tactical droids, I personally think they could work well as just minifigures with custom head molds. Gives them a more individual profile next to the other droid figures and tons of space for printed details. They already have more humanoid profiles than the other types of droid infantry so switching over from a dedicated spindly mold to just being minifigures would suit both types pretty well.
I'd argue the much bigger droid problem Lego has is where it can put these figures. I doubt droid battle packs would have the same selling power as clone packs, and there aren't a ton of options when it comes to droid vehicles to turn into sets. Even if there was, droids are an army that's all about volume. Fewer than like 6 droids in a set isn't worth writing home about, and when these sets require a couple of clones and a Jedi too to turn into a bit more of a playset, you're not getting 6 droids. That means that if they were to distribute an appropriate amount of these special droids, a lot of people would find themselves with more special droids than they have basic "mass-produced" B1s. We've already had the Clones vs Droids battle pack, where if this is your first foray into droid army building, you're going to have 50% more of the "expensive and special, rarely deployed" super battle droids than you have of the "there are so many of these we're happy to march them into artillery fire" B1s.
I'm on board with everything, specifically some more ground vehicles, MTT being the top for me. It sucks on my end because I got back into LEGO around 2017, and even though its 7 years ago, in that span there has barley been much droid army sets for me to collect. Yeah I got a couple ATTs and bunch of battle droids, but nothing really significant during that span. Few more years and we are talking a solid decade of little CIS sets. Was hoping with the clone wars anniversary we'd get more, but didnt get much.
controversial opinion: but I believe that new Magnaguard's should just be the standard minifigure mold with prints here's why: the Magnaguard's are very dynamic in universe, they spin and whirl around and fight Jedi, something you can't quite pull off with the typical battle droid legs, they also have a more "humanoid" silhouette than most other droids, all of this I think would be better pulled off by the standard minifigure related note, but make a Magnaguard battle pack and a Jedi Temple Guard pack to go against it
@@G.A.RProductions If we we're to get a Magnaguard Battle Pack, here's how I'd hope it would go: 2 guards with capes, 1 guard is blue, the other is silver, like what we see in revenge of the sith, both have electrostaffs and then 2 dark metallic (gunmetal) guards without capes, give 1 a blaster and/or stud launcher (because it kinda looks like the grenade launcher the magnaguard has in battlefront classic), and the other has some kind of rocket launcher for a build I would either prefer some kind of small speeder or turret the droids can operate, i dunno, I'm kinda long past caring about builds in battle packs
I would like to see like large battle packs. As in 50x droids 5 special droid figs, and a Hailfire Droid, Tank, and crab Droid. Just a large set. Plus a $20 Battle pack with 10x droids. Just go all out with it so that $100-120 is enough to build the army I one setting.
I have two ideas for what I want to see as Droid Battle Packs: 1. Gendy droids, B1s in red orange and B2s in dark blue, just like the old cartoon, don't know what the build would be 2. Ep I Droid pack, 6 droids: 3 standard, a commander, 1 security, and 1 pilot, builds would be a stap, a droideka, and an Armored Scout Tank (the AST is basically a scaled down, single person version of the AAT, it was a toy released during the original phantom menace toyline, it would be great for a battle pack build)
the fact there has only been one single tactical droid ever in any set, no super tactical droids at all and only in one colour when they had so many is so crazy they’re so crucial for mocs and armies it’s really sad 😭
Tactical droids are a maybe, Rocket arm feels like a must, same with Magna guard, but flying B2 feels like too much. We also need buzz droids and droidekas, maybe crab droid. Trifighter, vulture and dropship also feels like a must, tho I doubt we will ever get all three. CAT would be cool, but somehow I doubt it, MTT is long overdue it's crazy. Hailfire droid feels like something we will never get, goming spider is a maybe. Unfortunately there are so many sets that we need so badly, and lego is very reluctant to do any of those. Like, despite recieving many clone sets, we don't have any starfighters like ARC or Headhunter, so untill those, I really don't see Lego releasing anything like Vulture or trifighter. Clone wars sets don't have enought set spots yearly to accomodate even half the things we need for like, next ten years or so. We should narrow down things to the most essential things that we need: different kinds of B1s, droidekas, magna guards most likely paired with Grievous in a set(Would prefer them in microfighter, but that's not happening), vulture, tactical droid and MTT. If you'll add things we need on clone side, that's already good five years of sets at least
True bro. I'm hopping we get flying B2s someday. I do think they will do Hail fires again at some point. Yeah if we could get like 1-2 clone and droid sets per side every year, we would be golden.
If they make the droid troop transport as an episode 3 set, I kinda want it to have the green battle droids, I like em better as camo droids (and its not like aat drivers are consistently portrayed as green droids anyways), and I just cannot pass up the chance to get a bunch of em at once (we'll get at least 6-12 of them, based off prior versions of the vehicle)
Personally I much rather see them work off the list of droids and vehicles that they never released instead of refreshing old sets. For example we never got any of their iconic capital ships. No Lucrehulk, no Providence, no munificent and no Recusant. In terms of ground vehicles, I would love to see the super tank, and indeed the Octuptara Tri Droid
Yeah Lego has a definite droid problem. While the recent battle pack is a nice start, there is a lot that Lego needs to do for the CIS. To be honest I think tri-fighter and the hailfire droids would be pretty good since they haven’t had a new set in a long time. I do want an MTT set but I am not so sure that it’s going to live up to my expectations as I want to be very similar to the 2008 MTT. Perhaps instead of the trade federation design we can have the blue/CIS MTT. For minifigures I do want some more commando droids and honestly droidekas that don’t look so derpy. Also crab droid please, it’s a mystery why Lego hasn’t made them yet. As on the unlikely side, even though it is a CIS vehicle and is from the Old EU, I want to the Ground Assault Tank aka the GAT in Lego form. I wish Lego was more brave to release Old EU/Legends sets, I miss the old days when Lego gave us SWTOR sets and the Rogue Shadow from the force unleashed.
As someone who doesn't have significant resources and a milineual buyer. I am pretty much limited to sets that are sold on shelf with the occasional 2nd hand purchase. But to give people an example of the Droid problem. My clone army literally outnumbers my Droid army 2-1 because droids even the standard B1 ones are so difficult to get a hold on for a limited budget. Even the new battlepack which is Droid focused in some degree still isn't enough to tip the balance.
I like how the defult battle droids (B1 B2) are simple. These are mass produce war machines, and the legos do feel like that. Other then that I would love magna guards, crab droids, spider droids, hellfire droids, vulture droids, hyena bombers, snail tank, tri fighters. Heck give us some EU droids like the prototype B3, or hell, a Basilisk War Mount, those things where so cool in the EU and Mandolorian lore.
The lack of a lego lucrehulk or munificent in playscale is criminal. I blame my lost interest in lego star wars on the fact I've become a CIS fan over time, especially in the realm of their capital ships. Actually hard to watch a lot of TCW because of the ridiculous plot armor republic things have, especially in seasons 1-3.
Look, I really don't think it's worth having just battlepack droids with reordered minifigures, and and the new 2024 battlepack clone was a very good match with the new clones slant. Although there is no need to change the design of the droids except for the plastic, I think it is time to Lego at least put the eye prints on the head and body and I'd like them to come back if to reuse the backpacks with the athena and a printed piece on the back representing the backpack like the Heavy Trooper clone, but I would love to see a new magma guards battlepack mold with a new crab droid included Or a new Geonosian starfighter with the remake of Commander Cody p1 armor
I have a decent amount of droid sets, including hailfire droid, a tank droid, 2 spider droids, a big troop transport and a tri fighter, But it always felt a little hard to set up a Star Wars battle when the opposing Clone army had a Juggernaut, gunship, AT-TE and countless clones. Just never felt balanced and I blame the lack of sets available lol
You kinda forgot crab droids LEGO never made I did came up idea for some droids that might need rodholes arms in order less cracking looking at back bionicle 2007 minifigures
We haven't had any of the standard b1 variants in years either, have we? I think the most recent (non kashyyyk) variant we got was the pilot, yeah? I've got plenty of pilots and security droids but I don't have any commander droids. I'm hoping the supposed AAT we are getting later this year includes one.
Gonna cop 100 b1 and 100 b2 droids for £15 each. Then maybe I'll get a few crab droids for £0.40 each and a few Drodikas for the same. Then 😢 get a 2007 MMT for £30, two AATs for £15 each, and then maybe I'll get 10 commandos and General Grivious for around £10. Barely £100 for a fully stocked Droid army. It's called Aliexpress people, we're not above it. Fake droids look great bc they dont need any printing (unlike clones do).
The fact that we got the non canon 187th clones based off some random toy like 20 years ago but they can’t even give us droids that played a prominent role in the clone wars.
It is a bit weird to say the least!
The purple boiz are goated
Yeah I agree, I really like the 187th cones but I feel if they are going to go that random with clone troopers then we should be getting at least 1 or two more droid variants.
Getting Legends clones is even cooler than getting droid stuff... btw these clones are canon now!
I would love a General Kalani minifig
bro we havent even seen a single CIS vessel other than the malevolence, nor crab droids.
So true bro! I didn’t even do captain ships 🤦🏼♂️
We will get the invisible hand
As midi scale display model, it's not a playset but at least irs somethinf
CIS ships are great candidates for sets too
We need crab droids.
Agreed

What about the cac ones?

I never thought of that. Kinda of like Yu Wang? That might work!
Yeah I really want some Super tactical droids and IG 100 Magnaguards also an MTT and of course some BX commando droids as well
true. the clones have seen so much love in the recent years. separatist reinforcements are long overdue!
Amen brother!
