Apart from maybe a backpack piece, I think they're perfect. Don't forget it's lego, it's never gonna be REALISTIC. It's a perfect mix between detail and simplicity.
I think moveable legs is the main thing for me. I don’t necessarily want more detail. Just the ability to pose a walking droid. But again, to each their own! Love your videos btw. Amazing stuff. Just found your Lego channel a week ago and was blown away by your production quality and motion graphics.
yeah, separatists just keep getting shafted by lego. few sets and there still haven't been any real separatist UCS sets, closest things being an old Darth Maul bust and a General Grievous figure. some vehicles have 2 UCS sets, but we still haven't seen an UCS AAT. not to mention there's far less variety and frequency in separatist models compared to the other main star wars lines
I feel like the rotating wrist is a bit too much since it would probably wear down quickly after playing with it (which is an issue with battle droids already) but other than that its great
I could agree with this! I’m fine with static arms if they are swappable. I definitely would prefer the straight droid arm to have a slight bend to it though.
I don't think they're perfect, but I prefer consistency over everything else. Especially since we've all inadvertently amassed a B1 army with the current design. Customs are of course there for MOC builders to enjoy. It would be cool for LEGO to start including a backpack accessory though.
consistency and tradition shouldn't be an excuse for low-quality and laziness. b1's deserve an updated design, and these CAC customs aren't at all ruining consistency, from far away you can barely tell the difference.
@@HegeRoberto I respect the opinion and disagree. They are quite obviously different when looking at them side by side. Which they should be otherwise there would be no need for change! I'm just saying I'd trade these improvements for a consistent B1 army.
@mxritz_01 I agree, they look pretty good and the pieces have to be able to be utilised in other sets, eg, the droid body can ne used for other driods and not just battle drids, and the arms can also be used in detailing in larger sets. No need to improve perfection ❤️

Something that most Lego fans could do to vastly improve their B1s is to put a simple 1x2 plate in the respective colour placed as high up on the droid’s back as possible. It really is a minor fix, but does wonders for the general look for our sweet little goofballs.
I add that to every single B1 I have, and I even took one step forward to add a black antenna to all of them! (as how they appeared in the og lego star wars games)
Ahaha, I was going to write that too. I love how they gave the old ones in Ep 1 sets iirc backpacks. They look a little bit more like in the movies, maybe they can even make a new piece but that's how they looked like in the lego video games all the time too. Much better appearance
I'm glad you like the custom droids! @@Captain_Cheeeseballs Not really. Those ones are just sort of rescaled versions of the official droids, whereas mine has a new torso that's more accurate and the details are based off of the season 7 / bad batch model

As an OG Battle droid fan, yes, they need and update. Not in detail, the simple lego style is good, but it needs Minifigure Possability, at least better arms (A bend one with a vertical hand) and possable legs That's why i love the lego b1 droids from the games and series, cause they can move arms and legs, the minifigures really need a bit of improvement (No, don't say they're perfect, don't let the nostalgia win, nostalgia can be wrong sometimes)
The Battle Droids really are due for an upgrade. I’d love to maybe even see a battle pack that features some new brick-built battle droids like the LR-57 Combat Droid or a Crab Droid.
As good as these upgrades are, think about how many battle droids you own. 25 years of a changeless design, just for Lego to upgrade them. Think of this like the stormtroopers.
I have some possible CIS set ideas: 1: Vulture droid vrs U-wing would be like a wing vrs tie interceptor and would include 1 clone pilot to pilot the u wing 2: CIS Shuttle perfect way to reintroduce the tactical droid (heck maybe even the super tactical droid) and 2 or 3 commando droids 3: Gunship would include 4 b1 battle droids and 2 super battle droids maybe with 1 or 2 clones to fight 4: squid droid underwater thing that attacks kamino (lol idk the name) this would include & bring back asajj ventress and would introduce the aqua droid maybe about 3 5: MTT (blue & grey variation) nothing special here just a mechanism to open and let the droids out on the mtt and a cockpit for 2 pilot droids to pilot the mtt and would bump up from 16 to 25ish battle droids (this would help so much for droid army building and you would legit only have to buy 2 or 3 to get a good sized army of b1s) and a commander droid 6: just a set that includes some magnaguards since they are like 70 dollars a fig (micro fighter?) and yeah thats all
Lego tends to emphasize consistency/compatibility. For example, the B1 droids share torsos and arms with the Life on Mars theme aliens, and the legs are similar in function. Lego only creates specialized pieces when absolutely necessary, because one of their principles is everything must be as compatible as possible in the system. This often means aesthetics and functionality are sacrificed. I remember putting together a Cobi set recently and finding pieces in there that had me thinking "Lego would never do this", but they worked very well for that set and its desired functionality - the set would not be possible with just lego pieces, or if it were, it'd look and function worse.
I'm really curious as to where CAC could go with printing on the battle droids. You've got the obvious markings like commander yellow, security red, pilot blue, and tanker green but there are cooler ones they could do as well. The dark orange suits both the rocket droid and the BF2 heavy class schemes while grey would be great for either a Republic Commando B1 or a Bedlam Raider skin.
I feel like the b1 you showed deviates too far into an action figure mold than lego. It doesn't look like it belongs next to anything but itself, and that's why that'll never happen. That said, why don't we have backpacks and more accessories for droids? Especially episode 1 battle droids, it's weird they don't have a backpack, be it brick buillt or a new piece entirely. And that goes for most of these parts you suggested, like you can't have parts that only work in 1 theme. The legs, maybe, the arm definitely could work, minus the wrist articulation, just having a version that's bent and has the rotated connection, but the torso really can't be changed, and it's probably the most used part outside the star wars theme.
I think the thing is: where do you draw the line between action figure and Lego? because the current state of battle droids serve the purpose for Army building cannon fodder etc posing/movement might be a concern for some but overall it’s not as big an issue unless all mini figures were as stiff as the current battle droids. I’ve seen superposable mini figures and a they are so far away from what is Lego that it feels alien and you might as well just have action figures at this point but the standard battle droids perhaps movable legs and a correctly bent arm would be better but I don’t see the need for new backpacks and a new moulded heads or bodies, just my personal opinion
Great video as always! I guess I just assumed the reason the battle droid hasn’t been updated was because making the legs separate would be too fragile for play, but I guess it wouldn’t be that different from the arm design so that argument doesn’t really hold up. I think a separatist super tank set would be such a cool set personally
I just wish those legs were compatible with the official lego body. The arms are awesome tho. I don't really see the point of the head, since it down have any additional poseability. I wish it could turn like a minifig head
I think they need to make something like the C-9979 landing craft for the CIS, but in midi scale. I've seen a couple mocs for this vehicle but because of its actual scale in the Phantom Menace/Clone Wars tv show, they likely wouldn't make it UCS. But still, i'd love to see the C-9979 from lego.
the old B-1 mold was the main reason I only went for collecting Rebels vs. Empire (+ some post Empire stuff) when I got out of my dark age, I just didn't want to collect them as they don't look so good... bad availability of most prequel Jedi being the other reason... however I'm so grateful for that now because I stuck to that and I can save a lot of money with every new SW wave :)
The way I see it, with the old droid arms either the Clankas hold their blastas like gangstas, or they hold their blasters like pistols. Oh and their legs make them look like standing firing dummies

These models are older than I am, they seriously need an update. It’s crazy that everything else has gotten handfuls of redos while these have just sat idle. Same with the B2, give us some elbows so we can have them standing at attention
I noticed some of the newer droid legs are made with a new plastic that doesn't get loose over time. It's different from the main body too. Would love to see some new sets!
More Droid Battle Ships! We've gotten Vulture Droids and Tri-Fighters, but the only Separatist battle ship we've gotten was the Malevolence way back in 2012! Give us some Banking Clan Munificent ships or a Lukrehulk command ship!
So true Lego needs to update a lot of droids. We’re finally getting the B2 back tactical droids commando droids still need to make a return thankfully Nanorex is giving us these.
I adore the classic B1 battle droid, a simple improvement is to slap a 1x2 flat brick with an antenna on their back. The Super Battle Droids because for some reason the clip for the leg and arm piece is super brittle and half of mine have snapped, hopefully this new mold is sturdier
I like the addition of a back pack but I like the idea of being able to sue their bodies for other builds as we have seen over the years. There is a certain nostalgia to them and it’s ez to build an army too
Wow those look amazing, something about the chest bothers me, its the little handle looking thing in the middle but other than that its a 10/10 lego NEEDS to make this
The thing is with the B1s is that lego has fairly strict durability standards, and I don't know if these new B1s would meet those. I'm glad they exist for the people who want them, but I doubt they'd make the cut for general consumers.
I'd like to see those big cannon droids the Separatists have, don't recall if they even exist outside of the RTS like levels in LEGO Star Wars 3(?), granted it's been a while.
I think they should improve the feet of the droid so they aren’t so flimsy, and they should bend the droid’s straight arm some more, but other than that, I think they’re perfect.
I think it’s due to the fact that it costs so much and takes so long to make a new piece and the proper molding. The amount of time which the pieces will last with consistent use and it also the material will handle aging. There is also very minimal acceptable variation on any LEGO piece, it is only allowed to have 1/10th a human hair of variation on any one piece. If it is over then it will be rejected by the machines and sent to be broken down into plastic pellets to be remolded. There is a great deal that goes into just making a single new LEGO piece.
Ohh I would sell my soul for these to be official! Moving legs is something I’ve wanted since the beginning. Imagine if that team made a custom grievous 😲
OK u convice me. those legs are perfect since B1 r kinda goofy and that could give them that vibe... arms r as cool as new torso... but i doubt that official (if) be that good.
The movable legs and arms are great for displays, but they're not great for durability. Since Legos primary purpose is play, I think it makes sense to use the sturdier design.
I always thought it was weird that the skeletons have 2 separate legs, but the B1 doesn't. It was clearly a solved problem when the first B1 came out. That said, I'm not a huge fan of adding too much detail that makes these parts specific to the B1, as the torso and arms are frequently used in other non-B1 builds. I could see the separate legs actually making the legs more useful, like being able to build a free-standing podium-style control panel that sticks to a single stud on the base.
Genuinely shocked at the price of these, what a pleasant surprise! I feel like if LEGO were ever willing to split the legs on droid minifigures they'd have done it with the most recent supers so will gladly get a few of these for MOC's. Cannot wait for their commandos either!

I want some of those custom droids but in colors appropriate for the old Mars Mission theme.
I’d love to buy a batch of those articulated droids. Also, I really can’t wait for that commando Droids, those guys are my favorites.
My droids live in one place… my kids play bins! NanoRex for the W!
Hahaha makes sense 😂
3:55 oké that would be epic
3-4 dollars for the CAC B1 is INSANE
Such a good value. I’m glad they priced reasonably.
ive been waiting years for these im so happy to see these look so good
I’m definitely impressed with them!
Wow those look amazing, something about the chest bothers me, its the little handle looking thing in the middle but other than that its a 10/10 lego NEEDS to make this
I really hope Lego makes some droid vehicles soon, especially an MTT, also thise CAC droids look amazing, I'm gonna need to check those out!
can i still make the buff one where you take them apart and just make one big one
The thing is with the B1s is that lego has fairly strict durability standards, and I don't know if these new B1s would meet those. I'm glad they exist for the people who want them, but I doubt they'd make the cut for general consumers.
What shelves do you use in yiur background?
Their legs aren’t moving they must need maintenance!
Do you mind if I use this footage in a future video of mine?
Don’t mind, as long as you credit. Thanks for asking!
@@firebirdbricks alright thanks man
I'd like to see those big cannon droids the Separatists have, don't recall if they even exist outside of the RTS like levels in LEGO Star Wars 3(?), granted it's been a while.
0:01 nice black series 332nd helmet bro
how about the d wing aero droid form bad batch episodes when echo returns
Man, I can't get even of those commando droids you shown...I really hope CAC goes through with the idea.
I want at least one droid set with a commander droid (the one with the yellow markings) I haven’t seen that one in a while
my only problem with the droid is that with the knee joints it doesn't look like lego
we need a droid gunship that can actually carry droids like in the Clone Wars
That would be sick!
I would love a close to minifig scale octuptarra magna tri-droid from revenge of the sith (mygeeto)!
Yes please!
I think they should improve the feet of the droid so they aren’t so flimsy, and they should bend the droid’s straight arm some more, but other than that, I think they’re perfect.
If lego ever updates the B1’s I want to see some skeletons upgraded too. I think that minifigures of this base type should have some parts that move!
These look fantastic, I hope they add different torso colors, blue, red, green, yellow, etc.
i hope cac will do pilot, security or commander and other prints for the b1 droids
I thought rodholes solve less cracking issues for b1 and b2 battle droids arms and legs
Personally i love the official chest piece of the b1 battle droid, but id love all the droids to get upgraded arms, legs and attachments.
I’ve been waiting for an invisible hand for years!
Nanorex is having test samples of printed battle droid variants such as a commander, security, and pilot. B2 battledroids are in the works as well.
Excited for this!!
Just so you know we don’t have a droid command post in Lego
I agree with you but I like the old body legs in the head as well but I do like the arms I wish they would make the arms bendable
I love clones...I love stormtroopers...but where are my clankers at!
Gotta give them some love
@@firebirdbricks onbro
Oh man the CAC droids look awesome! I really need to watch out for the next sale
Genuinely shocked at the price of these, what a pleasant surprise! I feel like if LEGO were ever willing to split the legs on droid minifigures they'd have done it with the most recent supers so will gladly get a few of these for MOC's. Cannot wait for their commandos either!
I’m so glad they’re actually affordable! Commando droid is gonna be awesome.
