Re-tread's. You used to be able to get these in the UK. I bought Lancia Delta in about 1994 that had them, and the tread peeled off the n/s/r on the motorway!

Well in my day they used to retread the tyres on our DC10s , was used in the adds for the tyre company. Lot more load and speed than any car or truck.
