Best thing out there. I've been using sheepskins for years . Short one for everday but a fullsize one for camping . You can use it as a pillow or lie on it for a cushion against hard ground or lie under it when the weather is cold . Carry a canoe dry bag to put it in when the weather is wet . Invaluable and a bl**dy sight cheaper than a custom seat .😊
I have been planning on getting one of these for my Scram 411 and you just talked me into it. Thank you for posting all the videos with so much great information on these bikes and engines. I really do appreciate it.
Hi, This cover is a fabulous idea. I follow a man called one man one bike who has ridden into central Africa and is currently doing a Jaunt in Italy and seems to always have a sheepskin cover on his V-Strom. Sheepskin makes sense. I am a trainee Occupational Therapist in my fifties! Sheepskin used to be used for wheelchair and bed cushions alleviating much of the risk of pressure sores. I have a gel seat on my Himalayan, and being a big bloke with a boney backside a sheepskin would make sense. I have a BMW R1150 RT and even this can get a bit much after a few hours. Good post and this has made me think this is my next purchase. Thanks Paul 'Ipswich'
Hi Ian, they are comfortable, I have 100% sheep skin cover that’s made to fit my seat on the Diversion 900, it does dry quite quickly being a natural fibre without any deterioration or shrinkage.. I throw it in the washing machine when it gets grubby, dry it with a towel.. back on seat to keep its shape, still soft after many years of use.. cheers mate 🇦🇺
Its amazing in this day and age that getting a comfortable seat is such an issue. The only bike I can remember being actually bad in the 26 odd bikes I've had was a Honda SS50 and even that was good for 80 miles or so. It was too soft and you ended up sitting on the seat pan. My T140 was mega comfy on the stock seat but I did make the mistake of fitting a newer stepped seat from an Electric Start model and you could feel the raised section for the bigger battery after 200 miles. The reason this bugs me is I'm thinking of getting an interceptor. Many people don't like the stock seat but some like the touring version (some hate it). From experience I know a soft seat is not the most comfy, long term and also a stepped seat is reduces the options of moving about a bit on a long haul. I think if I do get an Interceptor I'd be tempted to just replace the foam (or some of it) with camping mat material and see how that worked out. There is a firm in the UK that specialise in medical gel material that do both add on pads and ones that are to be built in to an existing seat - this would seem to be the cheapest and most reliable means of making the standard bench seat acceptable (I'd hate to spend £££s on a touring seat only to find it was not for me. I don't mind spending to get something that works, but hate spending on something that doesn't deliver [OK disclaimer I hate spending money but begrudgingly accept that it has to happen occasionally 😀]).
@@iantoy7778 What is the main issue people have with the stock seat (I haven't got an interceptor yet but still interested - but being "careful" don't want to go through seats before I find a comfy one!). If the basic shape is OK then surely just replacing the foam is a cheap solution, getting the foam from just about any Jap bike made in the 80's or 90's (or prepossessing a camping mat?) Or am I over simplifying the issue? Mind you I'd happily loose the diamond stitching of the original for a more conventional design. Presumably replacement covers are available.
Great! My Himmy cripples me on a long ride. Will definitely get one of these, but why don't they just make the seats comfy in the first place!? Let's face it, most of us ride for more than an hour at a time.
I can see a new business opening up for you - as long as Sue is willing to sew on straps! More seriously though, presumably sheepskin is pennies in Bulgaria and you hire some locals to sew on the straps and sell them to us rich (?) westerners. You've already got the product name.
After getting a wedgie after 5 miles I had my Himalayan seats rebuilt and recovered. Added a Chinese cool cover copy and bingo. No more sore ar5e and under carriage
Sorry I think it looks like you’ve stolen it from a horse. However I’ve heard about this for a long time. Several mates of mine who have travelled Europe every year swear by sheep skin covers. For long distance they swear you can’t beat them. So no but a resounding yes if they work because I hate that dead bum and leg feeling which can ruin a good day out.

Cool Cover for the summertime and black sheep’s skin for the wintertime fitted on my 2013 bmw 1200rt. 👍👍

No problem 👍
Looks comfortable, Ian! I imagine it will work wonders when it cools off. The elastic belts to hold it in place are game changers. Smart work Sue! 💪👌
Thanks. Ian likes to keep me busy lol

We don't recommend the touring seat preferring the stock bench seat on the Interceptor. It's personal preference though as we are all different.

On a particular bike I used a pair of padded cycling shorts on a 3,000miles trip once & was perfect.
Not needed since as I've had no issues.
Class
Try my best 😊

Sue says NO 😂
Glue a couple of Cow horns to your helmet and wear a big shield across your back, and you'll like something from Mad Max LOL
Now that's a thought 😂
I went through 2 different seats till finally I spent way too much money on a Corbin brand seat that works for me..... I couldnt ride it without....
Have you done a long trip with it fitted?
About 300kms is the most so far
@@iantoy7778 that’s a decent start. My bum starts aching under a 100km.
I remember now, didn't Ted Simon get a sheepskin for his Triumph on his travels?
I also wonder how it is to dry out when it gets soaked. That's why I never got one.
Will let you know
Have you tried it on the other bikes you have ?
Not yet
It would need to be a bit smaller on the other bikes, but they do different sizes
After getting a wedgie after 5 miles I had my Himalayan seats rebuilt and recovered.
Added a Chinese cool cover copy and bingo.
No more sore ar5e and under carriage
Exactly why I couldn't ride it stock, who made that stock seat to fit what type of human ? !! Lol...
Does it smell like mutton when it gets wet?
Not got wet yet

It looks like my old lady’s muff
Been riding about 50 years and the first time I have used one. Wish I had years ago.
