    Great video did exactly the same, just disconnect everything and replace the evap to protect the regulator so there is no need to relocate and add an extension to the overflow pipe from the petrol tank. Job done

    Enjoyed that ! Sensible practical advice. Might be interesting to cut the cannister open and use just the casing 'rear' side and fixings for dirt defence shield.
    Thanks for a great informative video. ❤

    Great video Ian. A job I intend to do during the winter months as well as relocating the R&R unit. Seen a few videos about removing the EVap unit. Your way is by far the simplest and in my opinion the Best! Looking forward to seeing your idea of relocating the R&R unit
    Would be very interested to know more about that start button you’ve fitted under the carbs too?

    Hi Ian Very Clever Fix

  • @kevindarkstar
    @kevindarkstar หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    On the overflow pipe location make sure it's not behind the rear tyre, as if it dumps fuel in front of the tyre it can turn it to jelly, obviously depends on how much it drops 😊

    I did the same on himalayan by just blanking off solenoid on head and leaving it in place.
    Evap canister on that was solid as well.

    Don't confuse the "Green Movement" with "clean air for breathing". The former thinks any carbon (even CO2) released to the atmosphere will cause catastrophic climate change. IMO this is bonkers and definitely not settled science. However, it *is* settled that breathing hydrocarbons have negative effects on animals including humans. The tube you call 'overflow' that was connected to the charcoal canister is not intended for liquid fuel overflow. Rather it is just meant to route gasoline vapors from the fuel tank to the charcoal (to be subsequently and properly burned into harmless CO2 by the engine). The only way liquid gasoline can come through that hose and ruin the charcoal is if the tank is overfilled during refueling. Read the owner's manual for the proper refueling procedure (stop filling when the fuel level reaches the bottom of the anti splash plate, leaving sufficient air space in the tank for vapor expansion).

    Good effort, mate - most interesting; I don't even own an Interceptor!

  • @ballisticsmeg

    Done exactly the same two years ago, plus I cut the evap in half used a hot air gun opened up the top to fill the gap as close to the swing arm as I could, now better than the original stopping road grime getting to the electrics, a nothing fix, and you get to see whats in the evap! Crap 👍

    You can also connect the two little pipes on the throttle bodies with lets say 15 cm tube

    Great video Ian and very informative as always. I'm seriously thinking about buying a low mileage Euro 4 Interceptor in the new year to add to my Classic 500 and Himalayan 411, so still very much of interest to me mate 🙂

    • @iantoy7778
      @iantoy7778  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you buy a euro 4 try and get one ,2020 or older as there have been gear box problems after 2020 . Third gear is breaking there was a bad batch of gear that did not get hardened.
      If you go to look at one take the seat off and in the frame above the air box is the date of manufacture.

      @@kevindarkstar IAM customizing my interceptor an have changed the bars and what wiring there is is run inside the handle bars, I want it to look as clean as possible. I have got ride of all the standard switch gear and fitted custom switch gear on the left hand side of the bars. And as you have seen I put the starter switch under the right hand throttle body cover.
      My business in the UK was building chopper's and custom bike's so this is pretty common.

    Might be wise, if one is going to do this 'EVAP delete', to also convert the fuel tank cap into a venting cap. Drill one or two tiny holes in the cap so that any pressure that could build can be relieved. I have seen such set-ups without a venting cap, with an over-filled tank and parked in the sun, build up pressure such that a continuous stream of liquid gasoline is expelled onto the ground via the 'overflow' hose. Be careful not to smoke near this...

    If you are getting fumes out of the vent pipe the EVAP cannister is not working correctly or it is a bad design. Perhaps you are over filling the tank. That vent pipe should only let air into the cannister when the cannister is venting into the throttle bodies. There should be a check valve in the system to prevent fumes from escaping through that vent pipe and the charcoal cannister can store the fumes like it's supposed to. I understand why you are doing this mod but there are countries that have hefty fines for tampering with any of these systems. I wouldn't want anyone putting themselves in a compromising situation and would advise viewers to check local codes and regulations. Perhaps making the system work as it should would be advisable for some people.

      I don’t think he’s telling anyone to do this - just offering an opinion and showing what he’s doing to his bike - myself as an Interceptor owner appreciate the education and am quite capable of deciding whether to do this or not
