They're definitely an emotional purchase, I'd been thinking about buying one for quite a while. I knew that it was going to be replaced by a new model back when I bought my Himalayan. I wanted a 411 and bought one new, back in October 2022. They're not perfect but I love mine, the price is a huge selling point.
Good morning to you. The 411 Himalayan is the only one of a kind and that is why I have been riding one since 2021. I won't give a review on mine as we all know what to expect from it. Only one thing to say: If I had have the choise between the new and the «old» three years ago, I would have still gone for the 411. The 450 seems much more comparable to bikes from other brands. Besides I love long stroke, easy to maintain singles. Wishing you all the best for 2024. Tony from France.
Nice bike, i've always been intrigued bye the himalayan. All my bikes have been bought by listening to my heart, afterall, you buy bikes mostly because of the sheer joy of the rides you take on them. Who cares about massive horsepower as long as they go when you want them to& pretty much where you want to go. Once again, nice machine, colour is what i would choose, green being my favourite colour. Enjoy sir, ric, ontario canada, 75 yrs young & still out riding & loving every minute.
Thanks for the interest in my channel. I have only just started. I am still trying to work out how to use my camera. I am 65 years young lol. It's good to hear from someone so far away. I was sat here tonight discussing with my wife where to ride in the spring. We are in the depths of winter here in Bulgaria with snow. I am thinking of heading into Romania and riding the Transfagaresen pass towards Dracula's castle. My bike is the camo green. I hope you will follow my channel as I hope to post some interesting videos.
I definitely bought my 2021 Euro5 camo green with the heart, not with the head, although I spent months watching Himalayan TH-cam videos to try to justify to my head why my heart was right. I drive 200km to Carcassonne to fetch her and when I got my test ride out of the shop I was SO nervous because I was wondering if all of this self-persuasion had been for naught. It'd been 25 years since I'd had a bike, I'd just spent a grand on brand new bike gear, what if I was wrong? Well, from the moment I opened up the throttle and weaved into he city traffic I knew this was the right decision and I've not looked back since. I've put 3000kms on her since buying her and I'm looking forward to a great season's biking over the Pyrenees and further afield!
Sounds like there are quite a few of us who bought with their heart not their head. What does it matter? So long as we enjoy ourselves that is the important part
Good first video ! All bike purchases are heart based . If we used our heads we'd be safe and warm inside a steel cage . The Himalayan is a bit of an oddball , there's nothing quite like it . I don't think the new one will be as popular unless they can keep the price way down . It's horses for courses and if the Himmy suits the kind of roads you ride , you have a winner .
I was fortunate enough to pick up a brand new old stock Euro 4 version on a special deal direct from the importer here in the UK early last year. It was such a great deal my brother had one too. I'm really delighted to have managed to get one of these as modifying them is much more straight forward. Great video and the Euro 5 bikes do have a few improvements over the Euro 4's, so a lovely bike too.
Im still riding an 80s XL250S. Its only got 21hp, but i only weighs 135kg. It dont have no rights being on a motorway at night with 6v electrics. A Himmy has been on the " to try", since the first model shots came out. It looked right from the get-go.
It's not to far removed from your Honda XL250 same sort of old school feel. I will be doing alot more videos this year ,riding into Romania, Serbia, Greece ect hope you keep watching.
Nothing wrong with your presentation, It was nice listening to you! I am looking for a bike/scooter to take me to work and also carry my 15 year old daughter to school at the same time as I need to rest our famly car as it has been hammered over the last three years. I am thinking the torque will move us along nicely.
There’s something about these little bikes, I bought the same one as you have last year as a winter runaround, ended up loving it so much that I took it on a 4500 mile tour of Europe!, everywhere I went people always commented on how cool it is, I also have a CCM spitfire which now takes a backseat!
I think having owned the very model your discussing that RE have stated true to the original and the more I've looked at the new one zi can see the old one, yes it's a new bike from the ground up. But it's true to its intended purpose and I think it will do very well for RE. And I've ordered one because it's the only bike that could possibly follow on from the 411, love the aesthetic and character that is utterly unique and for those that like this type of thing a perfect bike as may be in a world or imperfections. Happy riding.
I think RE listened to the moany `professional` testers, and many commenters who have never ridden the 411. They decided to go upmarket, and ended up with a totally different animal. I love my euro4 himmy, and actually relish fettling and improving it. I am not going to say `younger riders today, they whinge if they have to do anything but put petrol in` - oops! - no, really, my neighbour gets his PUSHBIKE serviced. (mind, it did cost more than my Enfield)
Great review. Your chanel is amazing thankyou for sharing your knowledge. I agree the forums and facebook groups are full dickheads who love to tell you to buy another bike instead of changing anything. One thing there is now an ECU available for the EU5 so the biv bore kit should be doable now. Also i have an EU5 as well, do you think the Fuel x is a good idea for them?
Thanks for watching. The Fuel X is great. I have that and the TEC can fitted and it's made it a totally different bike. It runs perfect with no stalling issues. I highly recommend it. Do you have any links for the new ECU? I would be very interested.
@iantoy7778 powertronics now have a plug and play ecu with downloadable maps. This I think will take care of the issue with the big bore kit. I want to do one as well one day. I did read that the thing that wakes the biggest difference is the larger throttle body which is availble from hitchcocks as well as obviously the exhaust being modded for better flow and a remap to suit. There is one on yourube dynoed at about 40hp at the wheel I think from memory.
@iantoy7778 On the fuel x mine has no idle problems yet, I have heard a remap from RE fixed the problem but mine has only done 500klms. Did yours develop an idle issue or did it have it when you got it?
I had a look at the Himalayan about 3 years ago. Ultimately dismissed them though cos I just couldn't get my leg over so as to speak. Ended up buying one of the last of the 500UCE Bullets in trials guise - though seriously trials capable it is not! I love the bike though and its single cylinder thump.
I am thinking of buying a bullet myself. A few questions if you don't mind. What about the vibration? Is it good for long journeys? Overall opinion of the bike if you have time. Cheers Ian
@@iantoy7778Hi Ian. As I was buying my Trials 500 version, my mate bought himself one of the very last Classic 500's, so we both now ride out regularly together. Both bikes vibrate, but neither of us find it obtrusive until the revs rise. Even then we don't find it too bad on normal ride outs. For some reason, both our bikes came with 17tooth engine sprockets (previously18t) - emissions compliance we guess, and so the overall gearing seemed low. We very early on changed these for 19t sprockets courtesy of Hitchcocks, and these, for us, give a much better overall ride although top gear pick up is now reduced. We generally ride motorways at about 60/65 mph but we dont travel that far on them. Is it a long distance machine? ...no, not really, It's neither fast enough, nor smooth enough for that. Our rides usually comprise A and B roads, as well as country roads and lanes. Usually about 130/150 miles each time. For all the drawbacks however, we love em, they won't be getting sold any time soon.
I enjoyed your video, I have just bought an identical 2021 bike which I am enjoying greatly. What seat cushion do you use, I find the seat tends to slide me into the tank, it looks like your cushion flattens out the seat profile. My only real problem with the bike is the gear lever, I have big feet and the lever is too close to the pegs to get my foot under easily, I have purchased a second-hand lever to extend by about 25mm with a welded insert.
It's a small modification I did to the seat,I will put a video on in the next couple of days on how I did it. Pleased you enjoy the channel, remember to subscribe it's free.
Exactly the same thoughts as you before buying my 2022 Himalayan.Particulary with the low horse power.I bought one and have not regretted it.Can I ask you where you got the aluminium pannier box.I would like one of them.
Hello mechanic friend, with the new camshaft do you still comply with the Euro 5 emissions values? Or do you install the old camshaft when you go for the inspection every 2 years?
Why don’t you look at the Honda crf 300/450 they be a lot better and Honda reliability but I know it’s not classic looks but I would thought it’s not big like these big adv bikes nice and light I’ve had 2ktm 1290 adv bikes and 1190 lovely bikes but to heavy for me now I’ve had Kawasaki 1400 now I’ve got triumph rocket 3gt chrome edition that’s all I need only done 350 miles so far bldy salt and wet here in uk 🇬🇧 as you would know loving the videos ride safe take care 👍
The more capable you are, the more reliable it becomes. 😃
Without doubt the Himalayan will take you anywhere if you have the skills.

Probably most popular bike on channels I follow
Yes they are very popular. Thanks for watching.
Good morning , I bought the exact same bike and I love it ,Kevin from Australia
Yes agree, great bike

I like my 2018- 4. No abs, just bare bones and a tad lighter. Totally happy with it! If I want to go slower yet, I jump on my ct90. 😄

Also very nice bike.

It's a bike of the 70s/80s it does break down but at least you can fix it at home..
Pleased you liked the video, there will be more to come lol
I appreciate your point of view, but as someone a bit larger I'm looking forward to the new model- it fills a void in the market.
It's a more modern up to date bike. I wish the old 411 had the HP of the new one.

I bought the box from www.shop.militaryrange.eu I had the M191AI CAL30 size
I think RE changed the Game and they have a new Himalayan now.
It's lost it's retro looks though and has fallen in to a big pool of bikes that look like other manufacturers.
Hello mechanic friend,
with the new camshaft do you still comply with the Euro 5 emissions values? Or do you install the old camshaft when you go for the inspection every 2 years?
It still has the catalytic converters in so should comply. I haven't been for an inspection yet but I think it will be good.
