I have an airhawk type inflatable pad UNDER my mesh seat cover. The cover holds the airhawk in place , thus eliminating the problem of it shifting. Best of both worlds. I am loving it.
Hi Paulin, the modification of the seat with 3d mesh was the only modification for making the seat of my T7 comfortable. Without 3d mesh after 2 hours I was not able to ride anymore. In August I rode from Switzerland to the Provence. On one day I was for 8 hours on the bike. It worked perfectly. Thank you very much🙂
Great Vid , as I am short I have got most of my last 8 bikes seats done ✅. Lowered and made more comfortable. The first time I brought a “ low comfort seat “ it was worse than the original. So instead of buying seats that MAY not work and pay a fortune for I done the following: 1. I go to my local upholstery place ( as most upholstery places have done bike seats ) 2. Tell them what I require and they take cover off lower or raise seat out better and softer product over the top of other form - it’s all moulded in . 3. I then take for a LONG test ride ( without the cover ) return and make any further changes. 4. Seat is recovered and you have a seat designed just for you .
It’s not a good look to follow though! I follow some cyclists for much longer than I really should because they have such a beautiful bottom. Gel shorts are an abomination for my eyes as they ruin the spectacle! I admit that this may be the wrong point of view though. 😂
For long distance ridings, gel-pad shorts may be a temporary solution but they are not suitable for daily usage. I don't have to carry these kind of equipments inside of my clothes during my dailiy activities.
I know it's a bit weird, but I found that silk boxer shorts make a massive difference. Less chaffing as you move on the seat, and you feel like Hugh Heffner. Nice.
Used 3D mesh for two seasons now and totally agree, the only thing I would add is that you don't need a stapler, it's all done by velcro that runs underneath the seat, easy to take it off for cleaning 👈🏻
Mesh works great, only warning I have is I bought mine from AliExpress and it was super slippery as they had not washed off the release compound. Easy fix wash it first in hot soapy water before using.
Hey Pavlin, Just got a mesh seat cover as you commented on and can't wait for the results this early spring (Newfoundland). Will let you know my experience in a few months . Thanks for all the good advice and no nonsense approach to your video's. Keep on doing your thing!!! May your big jib draw As they say here. Cheers chuck
Yes its Awesome. Sir. I used this on my Honda bike for Leh Ladakh trip. Rode 5350 kms for 19days. Started on 18th of September,2022. Thanks , Once again , Sir. Thanks.
Great topic Pavlin, over the years tried custom seats from seat concepts, sheepskins and Air Hawks, which cost a small fortune, in 2018 I found the 3D mesh covers, and they are the easiest and most cost effective way to cushion your seat. Currently ride a T7 with the tall rally seat and a full 3D mesh cover.
Seat concepts is my go to choice for an after market seat. I've been riding since 1973, been aware of seat issues since about 1980. (Did my ass get more sensitive, or did I just learn there are options?) As I got older, and could afford better equipment, I always, I mean always upgrade the saddle right from the get go. Seat concepts is the company my trials have proven is tops.
The most helpful mc seat video on the internet after looking into comments on a lot of seat reviews i noticed a lot of people say that the 3d mesh was the way to go so im going to make one, thanks!
If you have the time you can rebuild your own seat. I’ve now rebuilt seats on a DR650, KTM500, Suzuki Vstrom1000 and a KTM 690. I have a sewing machine so have made new seat covers but it is possible to use a single piece of vinyl and staple it on. The main problem with modern seats is that they all slope towards the tank and are not flat side to side. Perfect example is the T7. And forget about sorting out pillion seats on such bikes.
I have tried modifying the foam of my seat with some improvement. My buddy added a 1" thick new foam and a bigger cover he made that helped a lot. I finally put a steel tractor seat on my old GoldWing and it is very comfortable for long distances. It is horrible in town or traffic jams because it supports my legs and I can't touch the ground without sliding forward a lot. No padding at all. Large surface area.
Hello from Vietnam! I was looking for something to improve my seat and there is so many products out there, I didn’t know what to choose. And your video came out just the right time! Now I know what to get for my bike, thank you so much! 😁
Hi, Ess Ess. I lived in Hanoi some years ago. This 3 D mesh option is super easy to get here and anywhere else in Vietnam. Just go to the next Xe mai and ask the mechanic to install it for you. You'll get it for a much cheaper price than Pavlin !!
I did a 1.600 km and a 7.500 km ride this summer using an air seat on my Rally Edition seat. The shorter ride was somehow OK but during the long ride I didn't felt comfortable. I adjusted the air pressure several times but no improvement. After the return I went to a local specialist and he mentioned, that today's ADV seats are too small for a comfortable long ride. So I have now a slightly modified seat with more width and the next long ride will proof his saying. I'm convinced about his expertise as 20+ years back I never had a seating issue on my BMW R 80 R and R 1100 GS. Both seats were wider and comfortable. BTW such 3D mash is well known among campers to reduce humidity below mattresses by an improved airflow.
Hi Pavlin. Good video on the seat topic. I’ve been riding for about 38 years and mostly my old Harley Heritage Softail. Quite comfortable, however now it should have some new foam. I had a DR650 for 4 years and I put a Seat Concepts onto it and that made a huge difference on it. But I never really went further on it than 2 hours. This spring I took delivery of my Africa Twin Adventure Sports and that has to be the worst seat of all the bikes I’ve owned over the years! I finally determined that the main problem was that with the forward slope of the seat and my being a skinny guy my tailbone was hitting the seat and causing very great discomfort. I was going on a trip this summer over 8000km and needed to do something with it or the trip would be unbearable. I got a AirHawk cushion and filled it to the max to get my tailbone off the seat, that made a huge improvement! But I think it could still be better. And as yourself it will move a bit when I’m standing up and sitting down or even getting on or off the bike. Over this winter I’m going to work on the seat myself, adding more dense foam on the rear portion and shape it to flatten and widen the rear portion of the seat where I sit all the time while riding and then make it step down and narrow up for when you have to stand coming to a stop. I just have to source the high density foam now. I have everything else I need and one of my hobbies is sewing, I have a large industrial sewing machine for making a new cover. I’m also going to do the pillion seat because it slopes forward also so that will be corrected too and then it will be recovered too so it looks right.
Sir, THANKS A TONN FOR THIS ONE..I am from India and own a Royal Enfield Himalayan and have been looking for options to make my stock seat more comfortable. I was confused between a gel pad, air cushion seats and various other options available.. but thanks again for clearing the basics and saving me from spending on something which won’t last longer
Sheep skin for me, used it for years with no problems, even on a 3 month trip across America / Canada, mainly offroading, when it got dusty / dirty wash it, comes out like new, if it rains either remove it, 10 seconds or cover it with a bag, in the real world there is no problem, just great comfort 👍
I used the same sheepskin on my big trailies for many many years, wet or dry; I've yet to find anything better. I'd try this 3D mesh for the experience, and It may work under a sheepskin! Edit: my aging arse may say different these days though!
Did the Seat Concepts low seat cover, pretty good, not bad. Upped the anty a bit with the heated version of the Sargent seat. Much better. All day comfort. Used 3D mesh before good stuff. Now custom covers are available. But not necessary. Stretch it over and staple it, pull it tight. Trim it and go ride. Breathes so good.
I changed the seat on my cb500f to higher custom seat that has also gel in the top part. It really improved the comfort. Only after 6 hours I start to feel the pain in the but and its much more bearable. Never thought this 3d mesh nets worck so well, will try it soon. Thank you for grate videos and information.
On two of my bikes the seats were worn out. These bikes were buildt in the 90's. After talking to a person I know who is riding many, many kilometers to Mongolia and back I decided to give my seats to a professional. This one-man-company is well known in the communitiy for making only motorbike seats with a good reputation. He made the seats exactly for my weight and length. He also recommended not to use gel or box springs, better use hard special seat foam. This was a good decision. I'm very happy with this seats.
I ride a Triumph Street Triple R and live in Italy where it reaches close to 40 degrees and swear by the seat mesh for comfort. Doesn't look the best but I'd take comfort over aesthetics any day
@@motorcycleadventures hey pavlin. Is this 3d mesh all the same or do we need to look for something in particular? I remember that India trip but I thought you recovered the seat rather than just put the mesh over top. Seems like amazing stuff, my ktm 640 is not super confortable
@@motorcycleadventures thanks for the reply. I meant just the fabric to make my own. The only place I saw that makes one for my bike cost £75 gbp! Which is way too much money lol
Hello Pavel, Thanks a lot for your link and video. It’s help me. I re-shaped few years ago the seat of my old GS to be ok for 6-900km but I want to add and try this 3D-Mesh. Have a good time and ride safe. Regards.
My Airhawk works great! Very comfortable. I just wrapped a little electrical tape round the clips so they don't slip off and pull the straps snug. It never moves.
I refurbished the buddy seat on my XT660 as you did and that was (is) a major improvement in riding comfort both on and off-road. This summer when I was touring on hot days in France I got up on the foot pegs and was riding standing in small towns and villages to 'air' my lower body half. Worked well enough for me. Touring regionally I have no problems when I am in/on the saddle for one and a half hour. I keep this advice in back of my mind for next year on a major trip. I do not want to damage my well done saddle unnecessary.
Im using the mesh you have in your video with an airhawk on my t7. Perfect! locks airhawk in place. Does not move when standing. I have done trips to Portugal and Spain with a happy smile/ butt on my face.
Where I used to live they had a bar with steel vented tractor seats for bar stools. Some people would sit all day on them. I had a friend that rode with a leather saddle. The sweat absorbant material went under the saddle. It was suede on the top, but I think that was more for grip. Inexperienced riders would get saddle sore, but it was made for sitting on. An English saddle is more for jumping and standing.
3D mesh is worth it's weight in gold! As for custom seats, Who makes it and how they make it is more important than getting a "Custom Seat". Fortunately for me, there is an excellent custom fabricator about 120km from me. I had seen him and talked to him several times at various motorcycle events before I went to his shop, " Wild Ride Custom Seat Covers". where he took measurements and listened to what I was looking for. A couple weeks later I returned to pick it up. It was everything that I had hoped for and what he had promised. I have had expensive seats that were less comfortable then the stock seat.
My TW200 seat gets painful after about an hour. I bought a mesh seat cover on Amazon, it looks the same as yours but it was only $13 so I don’t know if it’s the same as ‘3D mesh’. It helps reduce sweating but I still get the pain/discomfort but I can last a little longer. I end up having to stand when riding on pavement just to get some relief. We’re all built a little differently so it seems there is no one solution that works for everyone. Even so, I don’t often hear of people complaining so much about car seats anymore, so the automakers seem to have figured it out. Motorcycle manufacturers may not put much effort into designing comfortable seats for dual sport and ADV bikes. Maybe they just make slightly wider and thicker dirt bike seats and call it good.
I totally believe you. I tried the purple pad in the spring and it was heaven. Then on a ride one hot day the bike was in the 90° sun for about 10 minutes. OMG. I found on hot days it was unrideable. But on cool or rainy days it was great. Unfortunately sunlight ages it and it quickly becomes unusable. Mesh should be standard on bikes.
Well, on some saddles the pain is really getting insane(I own 5 motorcycles) Specifically the tailbone. I do a lot of long journey’s and that’s a problem then. I put the mesh on my Africa twin, but I don’t feel any difference when it comes to the pain. What works for me, and you are not gonna like it, is some fake animal skin 😂. Plus I do have then also a awesome entrance to my tent after the ride. 😃 The whole thing was originally a ornamental rug, cut it into a normal size, and it was around 30 euro? It really helps me, especially on highways where you don’t move. If it gets wet I don’t mind, gortex suit so yeah.
This is an interesting topic. In my experience I have also found that something that gives you some air between yourself and the seat works wonders. For many years I have had a road bike that I’ve been on very long trips with (8-10 000 km). I used to use a bead mat on it. It felt very… unspectacular. But it was still unspectacular after a week. And not painful. But it’s a bike for good roads, where you don’t stand up. And it had the same problem as you described with the AirHawk; it moved around a bit. Not a big problem if you have to sit all the time. Then I was introduced to the 3D mesh on a long trip in Australian outback. I’ve never looked back. I now own a Téneré 700 too, and one of the first things I did to it was to put on a 3D mesh. I live in a fairly varied climate in Norway, and what I find is that it’s invaluable not only on the (few) hot days, but also in the wet as I don’t sit in a puddle. My bottom actually stays dry when everything else is wet. I think the working principle here is: get some air between you and the seat. It prevents moisture build-up and is actually good for the skin. No more "monkey butt".
Just finished a 900km ride from Central Europe down to the Adriatic coast . Used a small RCA gel pad that works fine for me. This pad is for a lack of a better word "dry" ,not so sticky and soft like the others I've seen. I've packed an Air Hawk with me just in case, but didn't need to use it. Air Hawk helped me with another bike, but someway somehow I get a feeling it negatively affects the stability of the bike. No matter what you use, if the seat is shitty, nothing will work.If the seat is basically ok, all these improvements may help. Shame on bike manufacturers for not supplying great comfortable seats in the first place.
Thanks that’s great elaboration, I’m about to adjust my seat and you gave me a good idea to flatten it to have a better angle for my long legs moving my position back.
Got that similar mesh seat cover on MC and rarely other riders believed how great they are and refreshing on my buttom rain or shine. Available locally online in Philippines. I'm just 5'6" and 55-60 kgs. so, I will just continue to admire that T7 and stay with my Yamaha Serow XT250 and Rusi (China bike) 250 scrambler ... just DIY'ed those seat fillings hhhhh.
I've tried the inflatable seat, and I didn't like it because I found that it moved even when braking. I've just fitted a 3D mesh to my Tenere and it's great. I haven't done a long trip with it yet, but so far it's a lot better than the seat alone.
I have taken this video advice and got this done today at my local motorcycle market in Mumbai. The seat expert charged me $4 all inclusive (the mesh roll, seat removal, adding mesh using the staple gun, refitting seat) Let's see how much it helps.
Have to say, i agree that almost every new seat from a new bike is kinda needing an upgrade But lots of japanes tourers from the 2000s have very comfortable stock seats IMO. Pan european, Deauville, FJR come to mind
An emotive subject Pavlin, rather like oil or tyres. There are too many variables and "one size does not fit all". Your mesh seat is probably the best, low cost fix as it allows air to flow to your "nether regions". I do agree that pads that attach to the seat are, usually, a very bad idea as they are prone to move at inappropriate times. I have two motorcycles from different manufacturers. One, the stock seat is terrible. Very, very uncomfortable after 40 minutes I was in pain. The other, the stock seat is comfortable for about a couple of hours. I have changed both of them for properly manufactured gel seats from Top Sellerie, and the new seats are extremely comfortable, I highly recommend them. I do know others who have changed their seats and find the new ones uncomfortable. So, what is good for one person is not necessarily good for another. If you have a problem with your seat, try the mesh first before spending upwards of 250€ on a custom seat. Avoid the strap-on pads.
My textile gear is a lot more expensive than my leathers. I only use my leathers for track and road riding on my superbike. Gel is the worst. All the good seats are gel-free. Best seat ever is a Russell Day Long seat. It’s expensive and takes a long time to build though. Even the sport version is quite wide though so you know it’s there when the terrain gets technical off-road.
Greetings from IstanbuL. I have been using a 3D mesh in my seat for one year. It has severeal benefits and I like it but unfortunately it could not meet my comfort requirements compeletely. So, I will need to visit an upholstery shop at forthcoming weeks to create my seat from the zero point with more comfortable shape and softer materials. I will definetely continue to use my 3D mesh with my refurbished seat.
@@motorcycleadventures I understand you but I should anyway go to a upholster shop because there are some ripped parts in my seat cover. Some naughty cats have ripped the seat cover and the filling sponge. Even now, I am putting a thick rug on my seat to protect it from the cats in my autopark. Also my motorbike is 2014 model and the seat materials have aged and deformed during this time. Consequently; I should anyway go to an upholster for a serious repairing. Instead of a reparing, I will make it refurbish.
Great discussion! I was a long time sheepskin user, but as you said you can’t use it in the rain. It did make a great camp pillow in the tent though. I’ll try the 3D mesh on my AT and see what I think. Thanks for this 👍
Anyone I know that uses Sheepskin covers, always removes them if they can before rain. That being said, it’s happened a few times where someone wasn’t able to get it off before it got soaked. I have tried it out of curiosity and it definitely makes a good difference. I stick with leather/synthetic seats as much as possible.
My TW200 seat gets painful after about an hour. I bought a mesh seat cover on Amazon, it looks the same as yours but it was only $13 so I don’t know if it’s the same as ‘3D mesh’. It helps reduce sweating but I still get the pain/discomfort. I end up having to stand when riding on pavement just to get some relief.
I do have an issue with my ktm 890 adventure, the original seat is too hard, i have the ergo that is heated and no big change, probably is the same thing with a gel pad and heated. Going to try this mesh solution and aply a small thin extra foam of the original seat
I watched the video even on my hard, but comfortable, kitchen chair. 😁 Some with bicycle seats (and motorbike seats) - soft saddles are only in the very beginning of the trip comfortable, but nothing for long trips. 😀 I will try the 3D mesh, because of air and water flow - nice, easy and cheap solution. Like. Regards
Hello Pavlin, thank you for your video. My own experience leads me to the present set-up : 2nd hand custom seat with a small gel pad on top (which seems to stay in place for the moment) and over all the 3D mesh cover. More comments on this combination when I return from Albania end of September.
Two things worked well for me 1. I've refitted my seat with thicker gel layer underneath and it's like night and day. 2. if you're not doing any offroad the airhawk works well for me for those long riding days. Never tried sheep skin seat, really just too ugly for me. Sorry Pavlin!
I have the rally version with the high seat. I’ve never been so uncomfortable on a motorcycle. The Touratech seat replacement is €500+. I think I’ll try the 3D mesh thanks.
Glad we didnt get a live shot of the two red lines...anyway, just put on two or three pair of underpants, not the ones with seams, as after a while the seam creates a red line /sore spot on the derriere...I am testing two small bath mats sewn together so stay tuned
I use the expensive 3D mesh from Coolcovers. Its the best Option for me. The OEM Seat is good and i wont change it, i just want more air at my Ass and not sitting directly on the water during Rain rides.
Hi Pavlin. I always love your honest reviews. I'm going to try that stuff if I can find it. I do Amazon, so I'm sure it's available if you say it is. I'm one of those guys who buy a custom seat when I get a new motorcycle. I often ride 10 hours a day. At hour 9, the custom saddles are better than the stock one was, but it's still not perfect. If this improves my custom seat, maybe I can push to 12 or 14 hours of riding in the northern hemisphere summer days. I'll let you know, and thanks for your tips!
Well now im many years ahead... tnx to you👌 but we should always remember that motorcycle is not a car u get tired with any seat soon so just rest and ride again
ever heard of an extra shock absorption to the passenger seat? I mean in a custom seat I have no idea if it would work, just throwing things to know if stiks lol
I just ripped my seat apart and put gel under the cover. I could also have used memory foam, but experience differs somewhat more on that. Your experience seems to cover "put on top solutions". But what about "built in solutions"?
Fair enough, but I doubt that you will be able to achieve the result that you are looking for. Custom seats cost a lot of money for a reason. They use very specific materials and foams.
Ohhhh absolutly, I confirm. Did try for the first time on 2013 on a smal 150cc bike I felt like I'm on goldwing seat😅 Did add on my Ténéré just last month after 6 yours riding it without and I regreat alllll those 6 yours 😥 But it's ok, I'm not a very long distance rider, if you did in 10 years almoset 200000 km and now on T700 in 1 yeur 20000 km, I did in 6 years almost 23000km only 😅
I've just started experimenting with sheepskin. It's definitely comfortable prob 20% better than a bare seat but it's very bulky and looks like a dead animal laying on my bike! Not sure I'll keep it
my problem is with pressure on the ischial bones, the two protuding parts of the hip bone that contact the seat. In about half an hour or so, the tissue arround that part starts to get tingly and later it starts hurting. Installing bar risers helped a lot because as soon as I sit more upright, because of the reduced angle of the legs vs the torso, those bones retract a bit lets say and more support is given by the thighs and the gluteus muscles. My question is Pavlin, if you ever had discomfort in that area, did the 3D mesh helped with this particular problem? Or in short, did it help with removing pressure points ?
@@motorcycleadventures well, as you said now they are readily available. I managed to find a set made for my bike, not that cheap (at 60 euros). I'll post back once I receive it and test it.
I guess this is similar to what coolcovers sells. I recently found out about them and was thinking to try it. It's just a bit expensive, around 80 eur or so. But I think it should help on long rides, to not stick that much to the saddle and move more easily on it.
Tenere xtz1200. I have also tried gell, 2 different thicknesses, and the Airhawk that I could never get just right. I've had a memory foam insert done that helps, but again is not perfect. So perhaps a combination of the memory foam and mesh could be the answer 🤔
I also have good experience with the 3D mesh. Especially air flow and less heat and sweat. I really like your videos, they are full of great content. Thanks !
Interesting! I will give it a try. I have a a Varadero and it’s quite comfortable for about 2 hours and then I need to stop and eat. I have been eating quite a lot lately and I now have a very 3D arse which may help with comfort too!😂
Are you serious about mesh my friend? I was looking to buy a seat from US, from a known company, I'm not gonna name it, and your video just came up. On my excf bike used for TET trips, the seat is my worst enemy after the 3rd day. Do you think the mesh can help on the racing enduro bike seat? Thanks.. amazing 😀
As a keen cyclist I can tell you that all these things which makes the seat soft are bad. The good seats are hard and they properly support the two seating bones. If you make the seat soft it's good only for short time and if you sit longer, it squish the soft tissues and makes a lot of problems with blood circulation. Most of the OEM bike seats are much better without these gel pads and similar things. The same is with the cycling seats - people buy these soft seats and thinks they are better but it's quite the opposite. I am not surprised the people do the same mistake with motorbike seats. :) Mesh is probably good for air circulation but personally my ass is ok just with the OEM seats. :) Also some people are more sensitive than the others. Some cyclists can use brick as a seat, others are sensitive to a millimeter. :)
I have an airhawk type inflatable pad UNDER my mesh seat cover. The cover holds the airhawk in place , thus eliminating the problem of it shifting. Best of both worlds. I am loving it.
When your body starts to complain, it's time to stop and rest. Respect this rule and be happy on your motorcycle. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Not always possible.
@@motorcycleadventures what is the thickness of the mesh?
@@rocknrowdster Around 4-5 milimeter.
Pffft I’d be stopping every 20 minutes if that were true
I have chronic pain. If I did that, nothing would ever happen 😂

Wider seat will provide more comfort when you seat on it, but will have some cons when you stand.
@@motorcycleadventures therefore my seat got wider only where my butt rests. If it doesn't work I'll give 3D mash a try.
i couldn't agree more. I did that on my bike when I was living in Vietnam, for a ridiculous price... Another great advice from Pavlin !
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your experience and ideas. Good luck on your trip!
Thank you. My trip was this past summer, and it was great except for the weather. 8065km in total is what it ended up being. @@motorcycleadventures
My pleasure!
Mesh fabric on the seat is so good you even forget is there, it is a real game changer.
Agree!
Been using the mesh cover for 5 years now…..bought 2 from Ali Express and installed them double one on top of the other….very comfortable
Thanks for sharing!
Fair enough!
I used the same sheepskin on my big trailies for many many years, wet or dry; I've yet to find anything better. I'd try this 3D mesh for the experience, and It may work under a sheepskin! Edit: my aging arse may say different these days though!
I have the same on my T7. It doesn't make the Tenere a comfortable bike, but it does add about 1 hours riding before I need a break.
True
Did the Seat Concepts low seat cover, pretty good, not bad. Upped the anty a bit with the heated version of the Sargent seat. Much better. All day comfort. Used 3D mesh before good stuff. Now custom covers are available. But not necessary. Stretch it over and staple it, pull it tight. Trim it and go ride. Breathes so good.
Whatever works for you!
Thanks for taking the time!
Thanks for sharing! I agree about the special seat foam.
Well I swear by my airhawk but you are right it does move. After my first arse breaking trip on my Tenere I haven't looked back.
Good!
I ride a Triumph Street Triple R and live in Italy where it reaches close to 40 degrees and swear by the seat mesh for comfort. Doesn't look the best but I'd take comfort over aesthetics any day
Good!
I fully agree to the 3D mesh! On my Teneree 700 it is such a improvement I never expected to be.
Which one did you get? I ordered one from Aliexpress for the T7 but it does not fit at all...
I bought a big piece. Fit it with the staple gun and cut the rest.
@@motorcycleadventures hey pavlin. Is this 3d mesh all the same or do we need to look for something in particular?
I remember that India trip but I thought you recovered the seat rather than just put the mesh over top.
Seems like amazing stuff, my ktm 640 is not super confortable
There are different sizes, buy the one that suits to your model.
@@motorcycleadventures thanks for the reply.
I meant just the fabric to make my own. The only place I saw that makes one for my bike cost £75 gbp! Which is way too much money lol
I 've got the same and happy with this mesh seat !! I agree with you.
Good!
I'm using Tucano Urbano Cook Fresh Seat Cover. It's stable and I can use it with every motorcycle, even on scooter. 🤙🏻
Ok
Hello Pavel,
Thanks a lot for your link and video. It’s help me. I re-shaped few years ago the seat of my old GS to be ok for 6-900km but I want to add and try this 3D-Mesh.
Have a good time and ride safe. Regards.
Glad it helped!
My Airhawk works great! Very comfortable. I just wrapped a little electrical tape round the clips so they don't slip off and pull the straps snug. It never moves.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing!
Interesting!
Fair enough!
I have same material on my bike, only problem is rain, that material collect water. Do you take cover off, when is rain day?
It is what it is!
Thanks for sharing!
Had a gel seat supplied on Triumph Tiger. Boy did I get sweaty but. The 3D mesh is the best.
Thanks for sharing!
In my case a Seat Concepts upgrade definitely helped. Like double the riding distance before you had to stop.Honda 250 Rally. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing!
The whole thing was originally a ornamental rug, cut it into a normal size, and it was around 30 euro?
It really helps me, especially on highways where you don’t move. If it gets wet I don’t mind, gortex suit so yeah.
Whatever works for you.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Great advice, thanks, cheap too! I'm going to try it!
Hope you enjoy it!
It is what it is!
i also use the mesh. i just got it from Amazon. it Was made for a scooter but i just fixed it with a rope and it works fine.
Good!
Great video, i am currently modifying my motorcycle for traveling and this information is very valuable. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks that’s great elaboration, I’m about to adjust my seat and you gave me a good idea to flatten it to have a better angle for my long legs moving my position back.
Glad it helped!
i use 3d-mesh on all my bikes (re classic 350, mash sf4470, yamaha tricker). for me it‘s the best solution in all circumstances.
Agree!
Tnx Pavlin, I will try it. Thank you👍🏻
Any time!
horses for courses - I use leathers riding on my road bike(s) but textile type with protection for road and then off road on dual purpose bike.
Thanks for sharing!
I used to use that too. The only con I find is that mesh is a little slippery! Dont you agree? Aside that is great. I agree with you!
Slippery? Maybe if you have a curvy seat.
Good!
I've tried the inflatable seat, and I didn't like it because I found that it moved even when braking. I've just fitted a 3D mesh to my Tenere and it's great. I haven't done a long trip with it yet, but so far it's a lot better than the seat alone.
Thanks for sharing!
I have taken this video advice and got this done today at my local motorcycle market in Mumbai.
The seat expert charged me $4 all inclusive (the mesh roll, seat removal, adding mesh using the staple gun, refitting seat)
Let's see how much it helps.
It will!
yeah I got the "Cekell Summer Quick-drying Motorcycle Cool Seat Cover, Universal Breathable Motorbike Seat Cushion Pad, Anti-Slip Motorcycle Mesh Protective Seat Cover for Sun" from Amazon 17GBP. Worth every penny, cool breeze under my bum, bliss! Not tried in winter , yet. Totally agree Pavlin!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this interesting and helpful video Keep on safe riding!
My pleasure!
I use one of these covers they are amazing very comfortable, great video
Awesome! Thank you!
Have to say, i agree that almost every new seat from a new bike is kinda needing an upgrade
But lots of japanes tourers from the 2000s have very comfortable stock seats IMO. Pan european, Deauville, FJR come to mind
True
Fair enough!
Thanks for sharing!
thank you for the info , my transalp 700 saddle also hurts after a long ride
Glad it helped!
Greetings from IstanbuL.
I have been using a 3D mesh in my seat for one year.
It has severeal benefits and I like it but unfortunately
it could not meet my comfort requirements compeletely.
So, I will need to visit an upholstery shop at forthcoming weeks
to create my seat from the zero point
with more comfortable shape and softer materials.
I will definetely continue to use my 3D mesh with my refurbished seat.
Do it, but from my experience you will pay a lot and will have a similar result.
@@motorcycleadventures
I understand you but I should anyway go to a upholster shop because there are some ripped parts in my seat cover.
Fair enough!
I have had a mesh cover on my Suzuki GSX1250FA for 4 years and I could not ride without it now.
Good!
Great discussion! I was a long time sheepskin user, but as you said you can’t use it in the rain. It did make a great camp pillow in the tent though. I’ll try the 3D mesh on my AT and see what I think. Thanks for this 👍
Any time!
You are the best. Unique reviews. Keep going.
Thanks, will do!
It is what it is!
Like. Regards
Right on!
Hello Pavlin, thank you for your video. My own experience leads me to the present set-up : 2nd hand custom seat with a small gel pad on top (which seems to stay in place for the moment) and over all the 3D mesh cover. More comments on this combination when I return from Albania end of September.
Thanks for sharing!
Two things worked well for me 1. I've refitted my seat with thicker gel layer underneath and it's like night and day. 2. if you're not doing any offroad the airhawk works well for me for those long riding days. Never tried sheep skin seat, really just too ugly for me. Sorry Pavlin!
Nothing to sorry, it is your ass and you know what is best for you.
I have the rally version with the high seat. I’ve never been so uncomfortable on a motorcycle. The Touratech seat replacement is €500+. I think I’ll try the 3D mesh thanks.
Any time!
Great video and great advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Today i drove from Stara Planina to Edirne in Turkey and found one of those meshes there!
Good!
Good!
Thanks for taking the time, Brian!
Well now im many years ahead... tnx to you👌 but we should always remember that motorcycle is not a car u get tired with any seat soon so just rest and ride again
Absolutely!
ever heard of an extra shock absorption to the passenger seat? I mean in a custom seat
I have no idea if it would work, just throwing things to know if stiks lol
I bought a Seat Concepts seat for my DRZ400, and no more problems.
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome. I will try it.
Have fun!
Ohhhh absolutly, I confirm.
Did try for the first time on 2013 on a smal 150cc bike I felt like I'm on goldwing seat😅
Did add on my Ténéré just last month after 6 yours riding it without and I regreat alllll those 6 yours 😥
But it's ok, I'm not a very long distance rider, if you did in 10 years almoset 200000 km and now on T700 in 1 yeur 20000 km, I did in 6 years almost 23000km only 😅
Great 👍
I've just started experimenting with sheepskin. It's definitely comfortable prob 20% better than a bare seat but it's very bulky and looks like a dead animal laying on my bike! Not sure I'll keep it
Been there!
Pavlin, did you make a video of how to fir this to your seat? Do I simpl staple it like you would a new seat cover?
Hi @motorcycleadventures What thickness is the mesh?
6-8mm
my problem is with pressure on the ischial bones, the two protuding parts of the hip bone that contact the seat.
Yes, it will help you.
@@motorcycleadventures well, as you said now they are readily available. I managed to find a set made for my bike, not that cheap (at 60 euros). I'll post back once I receive it and test it.
I’ll be buying the mesh online now
One question
1 - what bike did you buy in Ireland? I like the old Irish number plate on the wall

John
The number plate was a gift from an Irish follower.
@@motorcycleadventures well I brought a smile to my face while watching the video
Cool!
I guess this is similar to what coolcovers sells. I recently found out about them and was thinking to try it. It's just a bit expensive, around 80 eur or so. But I think it should help on long rides, to not stick that much to the saddle and move more easily on it.
Whatever works for you.
Tenere xtz1200.
I have also tried gell, 2 different thicknesses, and the Airhawk that I could never get just right. I've had a memory foam insert done that helps, but again is not perfect. So perhaps a combination of the memory foam and mesh could be the answer 🤔
Just try it.
Thx Pavlin for this video! Very interesting. I will test it now. What do you prefer for a 3D Mesh: 3mm, 5mm, 10mm ore more? Greetings from Germany ✌️
50 or 10mm should be more than enough.
@@motorcycleadventures thank you for your fast reply! You make a grate job with your channel 👏👏👏

Great topic Pavlin. And nice “Picture” at the garage door, but still can’t see any red curtains. What happened to this project? Greetings Jens!
Cannot find what I need.
I have been eating quite a lot lately and I now have a very 3D arse which may help with comfort too!😂
Do it!
Mesh is probably good for air circulation but personally my ass is ok just with the OEM seats. :) Also some people are more sensitive than the others. Some cyclists can use brick as a seat, others are sensitive to a millimeter. :)
Thanks for sharing!
Well said.
Thanks, man!
