My advice is.The mechanism seized up probably due to the elements getting in & you freed it up with penetrating oil so give it a good drenching all round occasionally which should help. You could invest in an aerosol tin of Waxoyl from Halfords & give all the gummings a good coating to help stop water ingress around the cog shaft too.
Yes Herman The step is jamed in the out position. We did everything you where advised to do, ie- bang it with a mallet, vibrate the step ect ect, but to no avail, so had to drive reluctantly with step out, so need to get the motorhome high enough for me to get under, to try removing motor, ours is at the back of the steps out ofreach like yours 🤔
I will use the 2 levelling ramps i use when parked on uneven land, that should lift it at least 6-8" up, then put blocks underneath just incase to make it safe, to get under the vehicle, will let you know Herman when iv had a go at it, 👍

My step motor doing the same thing. It’s relatively new as well (1year old) so will try this and let you know how it goes get on. Hymer 534, year 2000

Could you try driving head on up a curb to give you clearance? A car park should have plenty of room and curbs
