I have them for about 5y around 60k miles , they do protect the rims but when is time to take them out the metal clips will rip the paint , and over time tires will leak around the rim
About to install on a Tesla Model Y duel motor here in Colorado. Thanks for the clear and easy instructions I’d rather watch a video then read the install.

Thanks, this has convinced me that it would be an awful, awful idea to hammer these steel clips onto the rim like that. Why cause guaranteed damage in order to try and mitigate possible damage?

I believe these are NOT widely available due to the damage they have caused when they came out and ripped paint, wings etc
Got these put on my Mini Countryman.....cause the missus loves parking ;) Question : is it normal for the Gators to pop out when a meeting with the curb happens? Was told if the clips are lost you have to replace the whole thing
Jasim Kalo Hi and thanks for watching our videos. 👍🏼 They can pop out on the area that has hit the curb, so would need to be tapped back into place. You will need to replace the missing metal clips but not the gator, unless the damage to it is bad enough.

I see you hit it the first time when it's fully deflated it hit it's a second time when it's partially infalted BUT I didn't see you hit the third time with mallet when it is fully inflated are you supposed to or will that be ok?
NCY STORE Hi and thanks for your message. You shouldn’t need to hit it once it’s fully inflated but just do a visual check to make sure the alloy gator is fully fitted and secure. Hope this helps.

Great vid 👍made it very easy to install. Been out today and noticed a few of protectors have popped out a little more than they where when stationary..is this normal?

Richard Casarez the best thing to do is get it checked by an authorised Alloy Gator fitter before you purchase them. 👍🏼
They don't cause slow leaks and stand up to negative temperatures during Canadian winter?
They DO cause slow leaks. My local tyre center are on their third attempt. They blame the paint on the rims, claiming that I painted them, but I did not. They are original. They get one last attempt, then the Alloygaters come off for good and we will have to fight over the bill.
Goes to show, a good product is hard to market, I’ve never heard of this, any motoring magazine articles?
I think skinnier tires are more of a factor in modern day motoring. The tire I run now would not pass the first measurement. They are run flats. I literally cracked 1 rim driving on my pirelli pzeros. I will not default to Michelin everyone says ill be happier with. Tropheo R I will test soon.

Thanks for watching our video but no idea if they will fit your wheels. You will need the little test kit to check. Think you can get one from alloy gator themselves 👍🏼
I’ve got a Fiesta but my alloys are different to them. where would I get that paper to see if it will fit properly?

I've heard these can hold water is this true?
Garry Morris yes, they will hold a small amount of water due to their design. This can speed up the corrosion to the outer rim area but if your prone to curbing your alloy wheels it’s still much better than refurbishing your wheels.
Do you have to remove these before getting tires replaced?
snaplash yes you do but they can be refitted once the new tyres are on. So you don’t need a new set of Gators👍🏼
Does the wheel have to be a few cm off the ground?

Alexis Ruiz Hi, no you will need to let the air out, fit the gator then re-inflate the tire. Then re-check the fitment with a final tap round. Hope this helps 👍🏼

We wouldn’t advise fitting them to wheels with run flat tyres.

A tad hard with the hammer I think. Could end up causing damage to wheel but generally very smooth information provided

Problem is with these they are easy to remove and people steal these
alot. Then you are out 2-300 bucks buying these. I will stick with the stick on wheel protectors that cant be stolen

No they don’t need to be re-balanced
