I have had these. Let me tell you about my experience. Thy look good, and stay on, but are a nightmare when the tyre needs replacing. Also, the waterproof lacquer used on the install, eventually washes away, and water will build up under the alloy gaters which bubbles the trims over time. They also allow water between the trim and tyre, which creates gaps, and in turn has caused me to have to reskim the alloy, so the alloy sits perfectly flat again to allow a tight seal between the tyre and alloy. You will know this as after a time with alloygaters on your car, your tyres will periodically lose air. Finally, most tyre centres will not be able to refit a tyre, if alloygaters are fitted. Suggest you call your local tyre dealer and ask them about the drawbacks before fitting. You have been warned!
Tha is very much mate. Your advice changed my mind too. Wont be going for them. Even a local tyre specialist shop who does all tyre work told me not to get these instead just colour paint them if needed as this he confirmed 100 percent ruins the tyres wheels things get stuck in between. I think rimrings are way better then this because it comes in the diameter of your wheel and is a whole 1-piece ring. Don't like how the hammer-happy-junkie installer loves to pound away on the tires and rings, he just a few mm from striking your wheels! Imagine if you had some very expensive wheels or custom coated wheels with very low profile 35 or 40 tires on it, and this guy is hammering away, he could easy just bounce and hit/scuff your nice wheels! Plus that gap is huge between the install, and the cap they put ontop makes it look mickey mouse.
Hello, thanks for your comment, don't worry the hammer we use is a rubber material and it won't damage the rim, we recommend the customers to install the rim protection product at our authorized fitting centre, have a nice day
I fitted some myself, found it easier to take the wheels off and install the alloygators, I used a rubber mallet which will not damage the wheels at all, my rims are 19 inch rage alloys with 225 35 19 tyres on so very easy to curb the alloys, the gators are great and make the wheels look great too, better than stick on plastic nasties that fly off when you jetwash the car lol 😁
