    Happy New Year Dave! Great vid as ever. If it's useful to anyone, here are my notes (corrections welcome) - I chose the timestamps based on visuals rather than words but the whole vid is ace so I actually advise just sitting back with a beverage of your choice on a chilled out day and wallowing in the gravy.

    Great collection Dave !!!! I make do with just a black star 40w idcore and seam to do the work I need and have the pedal to switch the channel from crunch to distortion and delay with reverb ... I had a plexi and it got stolen along with my 89 Gibson les paul and no insurance.... I absolutely loved that valve sound 😍 no gain ... would like a small valve amp maybe a fender but the black star has some good sounds ... going to but a dunnlop wha wha. Must be nice the bronco

    That's an awesome amp collection. My favorite out of all your amps Dave would be the Fender Deluxe Reverb Tone Master. I own one myself and its my main gigging amp right now. I love plugging my 1955 Esquire straight in with no pedal board and it sounds like your in a time capsule back in the 50s and 60s.

    Master Dave, my best amp score was walking into my local Guitar Center and spotting a Marshall MG15 (non-reverb) with a price tag of $9.95. Not even 10 dollars. It looked brand new. I figured it must be wrecked with that price on it. Tried it out. It all worked fine. Did I need it? Of course not. When I was paying for it the young lady ringing me out asked if I wanted to add a $30 two year warranty. "On a ten dollar amp?" I asked. I put a Celestion Eight 15 in it. Still works fine.

    Could be the op amp or op amps thats gone in the Marshall MG100 its a small 8 legged microchip or chips they are the usual suspects. And they are board mounted or the output transistors they would be mounted on a heatsink as they get hot. Or its could be one or two Electrolytic Capacitors in the power amp section. Look for swelling and leakage.

    I am a sick man. Guitar amps turn me on. I have a pile now & am watching Dave to see what to buy next. Have a wall of guitars also. There is no chance I'll ever be able to play, as I've been trying for 20 years & it just aint there.
    But I can't stop watching gear videos & buying more & more.

The Marshall is killer obviously with 7s, but recently, like 2 yrs ago I added a 8-String to my collection. Was pleasantly surprised that the Marshall Mg100fx handeld it so well, AND with no boost pedals or anything like that. I'll have to make a video of it. Going through a 2x12 Harley Benton cab

    I toted up each amp as you went thru them and used low estimate values. I figure you have about £4000, minimum, of amp gear. A Gibson R9 Les Paul would cost about £6000. So you have about 67% of R9 Custom Shop Les Paul. I Own 10 amps (mostly combos, but I have 2 amp heads and a few1x12 cabs). My amps and cabs are worth about £3500 so it was obvious yours would be worth as much or more than mine. I have been collecting my gear for just over 40 years though. I have 27 guitar ranging from low end to Custom Shop (just 2). Again been collecting them for over 40 years. I needed to workout how much my gear was worth for insurance and I was shocked on how much all my was worth. You buy a guitar now and again, but over the years it all mounts up. Am not a rich man, I am on a small pension now. My wife and I never had kids because she had a rare blood disorder and for many years she was ill so we never went on holidays. We didn't smoke or drink and for the last 3 years she needed 24 hour care until she passed away just over a tear ago. So, that's the reason I am lucky enough to have all my gear. Just because you have lots of gear doesn't mean you are filthy rich. It usually means you gave up a lot of stuff to get it.

  • @castleanthrax1833

    I wouldn't say that you have too much, as I have a few amps (and guitars) myself, but I can help wondering how " how can your floor take all the weight"? I'm sure you've taken that into consideration when you stacked so many in one (or two) rooms. Very nice collection Dave, you are a LFTT (Legend from the tube). Happy New year from Australia. ✌️🇦🇺

    Killer collection, dude! With all of those Marshalls, I was wondering if you've ever tried the JVM410H or JVM410C? With 4 channels with separate EQs and three gain stages per channel, t's supposed to essentially be able to capture the sounds of most of the other Marshalls made over the years. It'd be really interesting to see if you could borrow or buy one, shoot it out against your other Marshall amps, and check if that's actually true.
    (On the plus side, you live in the U.K. where Marshalls are a lot cheaper than they are here in the U.S; Andertons has the JVM410H for 1400 pounds and the C for 1600. In contrast, the head goes for a whopping $3200 and the combo is $3700 on this side of the pond. 😬)

    Quite the assemblage of amplification, but no Roland Jazz Chorus???? I have been enjoying your videos as of late and was actually going to comment asking if a Roland Jazz Chorus review might be possible. Aside from the shoe gaze stuff, there are only a small select few quality demo videos of late model Jazz Chorus on TH-cam. The JC40 has been on my radar and I have tried a couple of older used stereo chorus 2x12 amps running in stereo via a Boss ME-80 to see how I liked the ambience of that setup. Planned on replacing one with a JC 40 so as to have two stereo chorus amps running in stereo and then keep my Boss Katana 50 as a center unit. However, more and more research and demo comparisons along with price are steering me towards buying two Katana 100's and utilizing the stereo expand feature. That scenario should offer much more for tonal options, but hard to beat the Jazz Chorus legacy for clean tones. I have no problems with solid state and find your videos informative.

    • @jimboguitaro
      @jimboguitaro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've done a stereo chorus setup with an MG-30 and a Roland DAC-15D - set one chorus at a slightly different speed to the other, place them side by side and jingle-jangle your way to swishy heaven. The MGs do a great glassy clean sound and I'd love another for my own private "MG-60 custom" setup (basically two screwed together permanently for the canny man's JC alternative) 😀

    Awesome video! I thought I had a lot of amps with four of them! Dave I sent you a long message on Instagram, TLDR: looking for a budget fuzz (under $100) for a Hendrix sound (Fuzz Face and Octavio/a) and I already have a Behringer SF300 and a Ibanez 60's Fuzz FZ5 Soundtank (Big Muff Clone) in looking for one pedal that will do both the FF sound and the Ocavia/o. I was looking at the Boss FZ-5, Danelectro French Toast, TC Fuxx Fuzz, Joyo Voodoo fuzz, or EHX Double Muff.
