Hi, thank you for the videos. If you have time to answer my query it would be much appreciated. My 1yr old corgi Thor is afraid of the colliball/herding ball. Do you have any tips please? Gandalf seems to love his, so you can imagine my dismay when thor didn't react the same. Thank you
Hi there! I’m actually not familiar with the colliball so I had to look it up. It looks quite amazing and I might need to give it a try with Gandalf. With any new toy or experience, we really need to socialize our pups to the activity or object. I’d say start by just having the ball around without interacting with it. Just the presence of the object will then get him not to fear it. After, have a few training sessions where if Thor approaches or sniffs the ball, mark and reward with a treat. We want to get him to know that it is safe and have positive association with the object. Once the fear is gone, start to make it exciting by moving and even playing with it yourself and encourage him to go after it. Take gradual steps and stay positive. Try not to push too hard and gauge when it is appropriate to take each step and go back to the basics if you need to. Hope this makes sense. Let me know your progress!
