  • We place a lot of trust in a truckers hitch and as one of the most versatile knots, a trucker's hitch can save you a lot of time and effort. In this video I share how to use a trucker's hitch for every day purposes on my vehicle roof rack as well as for wilderness survival purposes. The benefit of making a trucker's hitch is that you can use it to tension your line at combat speed through mechanical advantage to incredible tautness all while still being easy to undo. Once you've practiced making a trucker's hitch a few times, it will be one of your favourite knots, a cool party trick and something you readily do at combat speed.

    Working my way through college I picked up extra cash delivering furniture. The truckers hitch is the foundation of furniture delivery.

    Good info thanks. Reminds me of when I was a young man in New Zealand tying down old square hay bales onto trailers 🇳🇿 🇿🇦

    Great knots and well taught. The big orange rope does a good job visually.👍 Those little "loops" on your roof rack are sometimes called eye bolts or eye nuts. Keep up the great work!

    Hi Clerise, that is the knot we use the most on the farm. The farmers here all know how to tie the knot but we none know the name of the knot. Sure I will also forget the name of the knot soon 😂 Thanks for great videos. Have a lekker weekend.

    I'm a big fan of the taunt-line hitch for ridge lines but never thought about using a truckers hitch. I'll have to give a it a try. Thanks for sharing!

    I use the trucker's hitch all the time. Besides being fast, simple, effective and easy, the greatest advantage is that all the knot pulls free so the line can be used again

    I absolutely love these videos. When you pass on your knowledge of survival skills it’s a reflection of Jesus Christs miracle of five loaves and two fish. Thank you for what you do.

    Ok question, what rope are you using here and the thickness is....? (looks like climbing rope) I always have a problem gauging what rope i should take along and how much is too much. Normally i have around 50m of 550 paracord with me, why so much? well i can twist it into a double strand if need be and it is pretty strong even in single strand, plus it hardly has weight to it so wont bog down your backpack. I would love to know if that rope is a EDC on your hiking trips and what length you prefer taking with you.

    • @boogaboogaboogaable
      @boogaboogaboogaable 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would have worked with Paracord. Securing heavy furniture we used inexpensive bulk nylon cord. No where near as strong as paracord but strong enough.

      Hi there! You're 100% correct. It's 7,5mm dynamic climbing rope made by Mammut. I usually carry Paracord too, but for demonstration I've started using this 4m cut length of rope and now keep it in my car because it's so practical to use for tying stuff down. Paracord woven together is a great EDC option, thanks for your suggestion. I was just thinking today though, that one could use the length of climbing rope to make an extra harness in a search and rescue op. May be worth keeping in your car. C
