This video is an excellent tutorial. Very well explained and great view point utilizing your camera. Thanks for your time. I feel super confident about doing my Tahoe now.
A great video, your the only one I seen with the bar removal, I was wondering how to get around that. Normally I would take the torque up in 3 steps. Say first 15, 23 and then 30. See how some of your bolts were already over torqued by the electric ratchet.
Hello I did notice that when using the impact on some of them. Removing the bar is a game changer and only takes seconds. I even tried lifting the body but still not as easy as just removing that bar and zip tying it out of the way. Thank you
Good setup you have there. I was thinking about using Amsoil on my cars but havent started. I will do some research cause I have been hearing a lot about them and also they are a great company. Thanks
Awesome content! On an 07 Escalade rear differential, as opposed to removing the whole case, is it acceptable to pump out the fluid from the fill port and refill and not have to remove the case?
Hello yes you can I believe that's how some dealers do it and shops too. I just wanted to clean the cover on the inside and do the full video. Make sure you clean the magnet on the fill plug. Thanks
I changed my '23 GMC Sierra 1500 using a pump. Didn't see the need to go to this extent considering it only had 3k miles. I wanted amsoil in the rear differential though. My girlfriends 21 Yukon Xl denali however, I'll do it this way.
Hi, Thank you for great information. I have Yukon 2016 model 95k KM ODO and I went to the workshop to chang rear diff oil but they told me this oil unchangeable and if I changed it will damage and noise sound will appear is that correct kindly advise?
Hi. You can change it and put a quality oil that has the correct specs and additives. Clean out the magnet and you should be good to go. Check your manual to make sure get the correct one. If you are going to buy the fluids at the dealer with the vin number they will sell you the correct one. Most likely will be more but since there are different differentials for that vehicle you will be certain that it will get the correct weight. thanks
Hello I believe around 52k miles to change the dif oil. As far as the fuel filter it doesnt have one. I went crazy looking for it and havent found any. I think its on the fuel pump inside the gas tank. Not sure why GM didnt add one like older models. Just in case do research but I have looked and found none. thanks
Hello I dont think if you go over a little on the oil it will harm it. Kind of difficult to get the exact oil quantity for the gear ratio you have. For me I have always used the oil fill plug as a measure for the differential. Thanks
I purchased the suv used so wasnt sure how the fluids were. I didnt mind doing it anyway to make sure it was good. I did the same thing to my z06 and that oil was very nasty.
Hello not a bad idea but these are reusable gaskets. Unless you rip it when removing it can be reused. Its up to you if you want to replace. Same as the transmission. Thank you
@@slalomking Is that in the service manual? I would like to reference that for a friend if you could share that information about reusing the gasket. Thank you.
Legit question, if the gasket isn’t leaking and it’s going to be reused, and everything is good and all your doing is changing the oil,why not just suck out the oil and add new oil, and you’ll avoid doing all the extra stuff just to reuse and refill 🤔thnx
Hello that is what the dealers do. Yes you can do that and will save you all that work. I wanted to make sure it was all good and didnt mind the work. Thanks
OMG, brake clean on the diff gasket. What were you thinking?! And "cleaning" the gear with a dirty towel. A steel blade on a gasket surface! Regular paper towels instead of shop towels. This is terrible instruction.
Hello I believe is 52k miles but you can change earlier if you like. Also it depends if you pull a trailer or haul heavy things. These GM recommendations are for normal driving conditions. I live in south Florida with traffic I would do earlier.
Tell me about it. they just want you to take it to the dealer. The way they do it is by using a drain pump. They dont remove the cover like this I just wanted to make sure everything was good inside and have a bit of fun with the tools. You can just use a inexpensive hand pump and remove as mush as possible clean the magnetic plug and pour the oil in and you are done.

You are very welcome. thank you
Very detailed thank you. I was thinking of just using a pump to remove and install the oil. Will that work?
Wow that’s some clean gear oil.
Super detailed thank you for the help.
Very detail maintenance on the differential. Thank you
The oil didnt look too bad. Thank you for the video very detailed
Looks like the dealer replaced oil when I bought the car but didnt tell me. I wanted to make the video
There different torque specs out there I think you got it correct. Thanks

Hello yes that will work just fine. Thanks
Hey
How are u planning to pump the oil out thru the fill port
@@deepindergill-yf6hg I purchased this pump from WalMart that I plan on using:
Hyper Tough Multi-Use Siphon Pump Universal, 36200WDI
@@deepindergill-yf6hg You can use a pump many shops do it like that so they dont have to remove the cover.
I don’t like the pump out method, you don’t get the grit out of the bottom of the differential housing.
Can you drain and refill without removing the pan via transfer pump

I thought these were suppose to not be filled to the plug line but a 1/2 or more below depending on differential.

The fluid in there was new, it normally comes out black.

Why would you not use a new gasket? Seems to be cheap insurance you won't have any leaks.

GM has designed the gasket to be taken on and off 3 times. Then replace it.

Dude, don't use brake clean anywhere near gaskets! Now you need to replace the o-ring on your drain plug.

Yes you should.
Wish i watched this before, i didn’t remove that bar up top and was so much harder lol.
I know its so much easier I started without it and realized its easier to remove that bar. Hope it helped. Thanks
Chevrolet makes this way too hard. Toyota has a drain and fill plug. Can do mine in about 10 minutes.
What a bad design by GM. Just add a drain plug and eliminate taking apart the pumpkin
