Sven Melander was indeed a legendary journalist, actor, comedian, TV host, script writer, and in later years something of an "influencer for social conscience" on social media. RIP.

I think that people always forget the journalist part.
Most comedians do have an actual education, often in the humanities field, since otherwise they wouldn't be able to make jokes that comment on our society here and now. A lot of classic literature is that, by the way, it's just that we don't understand the jokes since we don't have the context for them.

Sven is a legend here in Sweden. I saw in an interview, just before he passed away in cancer, amongst all the crazy stuff he has done in television through the years this clip is one of the things he was the most proud of.

The girl Anna, whose real name is Emilie Hall Gjers, was 6 years old when this was recorded and she works today as a teacher. Many people think that Emilie was Sven's real daughter, but that is not true. In an interview with Emilie, she said: "My mother was a producer for Nöjesmassakern and I remember that Sven didn't know his lines and that I had to teach him them. Sven thought it was funny that a six-year-old girl had to teach him, says Emilie"

As several have pointed out, not only is this a funny skit, but also a sarcastic stab at a lot of journalists/reporters who often pose leading questions in order to get an answer that is in line with their own opinion. This is a practice that still isn't uncommon today.

Swedish comedy is quite similar to British. Dry, dark, self-deprecative, puns, over the top insults, understatements...
Perhaps a bit long to react to, and I don't know if there's a version with subs, but "Torsk på Tallin" is a piece of art.

Indeed "Torsk på Tallin" is a great example of dark Swedish humour. But to be honest it is relatively niche in Sweden too. Many don't understand what's fun with all the depression and sad characters. Maybe a bit like the British "The office" in the awkward characters, but turned up to 11.

Great reaction to a classic swedish skit (sketch), but the point is not that kids don't get what adults mean, it's that adults push their own views on children. He doesn't care what she wants or thinks, he wants a kid that says she wants peace on earth...

It's also a sketch about a journalist with 'an agenda'. He know the answer he wants but, as they sometimes do, has a hard time getting there. That is why the end is so brilliant when he push the child to the side and 'summarises'. Sven was a journalist for sevaral years before being a part time comedian and knew all about how these interviews worked.

Sven Milander was not only a comedian but also a accomplished journalist. But as an actor one of his most epic roles was in the 1980 cult classic movie "Sällskapsresan". Where he plays the always drunk Berra. A man going round in a blue T-shirt with the text "Tonight 107 Sweeds gonna get gonorrhea". The movie depicts chartered travel and how sweeds often goes on vacation mainly under organized circumstances.

I once talked with Sven Melander in Malmö. It was summer and my parents were driving down to Malmö and we sat on a walkway overwatching the Öresund bridge. I remember it very clearly because the sun was right in my eyes and I couldn't look up, but right next to me I hear someone say(in swedish of course) "is it ok if I sit here?" to which I replied "of course". Then his little dog jumped up right next to me and she was so cute and was sniffing me and we shared a few words.
I'll never forget that small but simple encounter. He was a very down to earth kinda guy and very friendly. He will be missed, rest in peace Sven!

The way he pushed the kid out of view at the end is brilliant. I am a swede of that generation and remember this from TV. Sven Melander was irreverent, slightly unpredictable, and quite funny. He was never the funniest though, there were people both before him and after him that were funnier, but he had stamina/longevity and was a staple of Swedish television for at least a decade (the 80s).

I'd recommend a series called "Percy Tårar" and a series of short films called "en liten film om" by swedish comedy group Killinggänget. Pretty much peak comedy from Sweden, in my opinion :)

This was a part of the Eurovision 2009, it's not just a parody. Well.... it didn't compete, but it was intermission entertainment, but it was at the actual show.

And of course the humor is in the fact that a grown man get belligerent asking a little girl to want peace. The irony 😂
