- Matt takes on two cases of dogs crippled by fear and instability in their lives. The first is a pack of bulldogs facing daily attacks within the home, and the second is Pax, a severely under-socialized pit mix. With the families forced to make their worlds smaller for their dogs’ safety, Matt steps in, hoping to be able to transform their lives.

What did you find most interesting about Matt's approach to the pack of bulldogs and Pax in this episode of Dog Impossible?
They are not stressed
I find it interesting that you have the audacity to put THIRTEEN adverts on a 44 minute video.
How important smelling is.
The most interesting thing to me is that he accomplished this without any training at all. This was simply socialization of dogs with very minor behavior issues. He seems knowledgeable so I'd love to see a show that actually let's people see him teach instead of making it look like magic
The total reintroduction of the dogs on a level field, the consistency, and most importantly seeing what the individual dog needed. The beginning where there was a total disconnect then seeing the outcome was astounding. All 3 seemed more relaxed less anxious and confident.
I thought it was gonna be a Cesar Milan video but I like this guy too! I’m just used to cesars charisma but anyone who helps dogs is amazing

As a multibully family, this episode was brilliant! I have learned so much from your team and approach. We have a Roosevelt, who defends himself from a female karen of the dog world who is younger and thinks she's pack leader. She instigates every fight. This video was great!!! Thankyou.

I know that it can be weird that ppl talk so much to a nervous animal, but as somebody who has a skittish horse, it can definitally help both u and ur pet to know whats going on.

Really all you need is no eye contact and at least with my horse who didn’t let people get close to her. After talking to her and not making eye contact she is almost perfect.

Cesar and this guy have totally different philosophies.
Cesar is a master of dog psychology and this guy is just a fresh graduate of dog psychology

I thought this was going to be a Ceasar episode, but I really like that it was someone else. I'm so grateful that there are more trainers that are willing to do this for these last change dogs. How much time and effort they take with these dogs. How they speak to them and understanding hearts. It's so sweet to see Matt with Truman in the beginning. I really like that he says we don't to conventional training... they let the dog tell them what's going on. We need more dog trainers like this.
Your right but this guy is not a cesars level he can probably help in a certain percentage of cases but not a 100% still wish him the best because he s doing a good thing

I agree but that doesn't mean this guy is a bad trainer, he isn't. I just think Cesar is exceptional. He has a connection to animals that goes above and beyond technique.

This guy broke all the rules of dog interactions as explained by Cesar. Staring a dog down even with the best of intentions is just a bad move… and the results speak for themselves.

@@Tirryna thankyou!! 100% correct. Cesar has made alot of money by tricking people. And dogs are suffering because of it. People that support him think they know dogs the reality is they know how to stop dogs communicating when they are feeling uncomfortable. This is how accidents happen and dogs get put down. Annoys me that people still to this day think he is some sort of hero.
They own 5 male bulldogs..... sounds like they took on a lot. It’s not fair to Roosevelt to be in that household. They probably also lack structure and obviously let the dogs run the house and didn’t properly socialize during puppy hood.
Not enough exercise either.
grew up around bulldogs for years and it genuinely makes me want to cry imagining living in the stress of that house. They can be such stubborn bulldozers and tended to lack respect for other animals in the household :\
I think from now on they should learn that 5 is the limit they reached before they realized they should have maybe just 2 give or take 1. And keep rescuing, you've bought too many puppies already for a lifetime lol
I raised an English bulldog for 13 years. She was the sweetest, chill, smart dog. I REALLY hope the President pax owners can maintain consistent training. They deserve to not live in fear of one another.

Never accept a puppy from anyone taken from the mom at least 8 weeks of age. They learn bite inhibition critical!
Unfortunately, the owners in this video don't seem to have had much of a choice. Either they took the puppy or they were going to give the puppy to someone else, who might not be nearly as understanding as they were.

Agreed. My state has a very serious law about not having any puppies under 8 weeks of age (minimum) unless they belong to your dog (as in your dog gave birth to them).
That was a survey study that asked people whether or not they thought that it affected their dog and the longer they stay with the littermates the more aggressive they become

Victoria Stilwell still my favorite trainer. Positive but no need to be "mysterious" and is able to impart her wisdom in an effective, repeatable manner to to the families. No off-site training location required for her show's subjects, though she does have a training academy for aspiring trainers. She also trains the owners as much as the dogs to keep the families harmonious overall. Her show on Animal Planet is called "It's Me or the Dog."

They are just naughty boys always getting into trouble those gorgeous bull doggy's. They need more enrichment in their environment more outdoor games, walks at the park, running on the beach, swimming in streams and shallow pools. This is what the owners need to do to channel negative energy into positive energy with their dogs. These boys are bored to death and have nothing to do and so the energy is negative. The same goes with people. I am no dog expert but I owned 5 dogs for 15 years and I believe that a well exercised dog is a happy dog. ☺
Pax still muzzled. I dont see much improvement on any of the dogs really. This is all filmed for TV and heavily edited. I like Caeser best.

I like the way you think. I believe that fear is the problem too. Our dog was feared by his veterinarian and technicians . Yes it took time and lots of trust. Because we adopted him from a Rescue group, we never knew his background except he was found at a church grounds.
Poor Roosevelt ☹️ that was so sad and his owners have allowed this to happen. No one defending him. No one stepping in and stopping the other dogs from bullying him. How could they not notice that?

I don’t see how using a hose will help the dog. If anything it will condition the dog to be aggressive towards the hose or whenever water is sprayed.

Ceasar would have dealt with Pax instantly I believe. There is just something about ceasar. Dogs trust him immediately. This guy is also good, but Ceasar is the Master.

whats happening at 25:50 is how u would ideally train horses too as horses are a little more reactive to pressure and release than other pets. U make the good thing easy, the bad thing hard (not impossible, just not as comfortable)

Why would you own 5 dogs when you can't manage them? It's selfish. So many people get dogs bc they think the breed is "cool." They don't give any thought to the dogs themselves or what they need. It's sad. One of the dogs, Truman, is simply terrified. Neither of the male owners have strong leaderships skills. They're delusional, saying, no, no, no - the dogs haven't got a clue who's in charge. What a chaotic environment.
To me it looked like he was scared by Pax. His body language looked tense. Then he talks to the dogs as if they are humans. „Don’t be scared - I won’t be either“. It looks very „technically“ talking to much instead of using body language only. Would love him and Cesar working together- to see the reaction of the dogs.

I think the talking helps, we talk to our dogs all day every day. If a stranger comes in and doesn’t speak it can agitate the dog more.
