Best way to lighten the vachetta is to use unscented bby wipes. I've personally done it
You did a great job at removing the rust from the hardware! With that being said; other than a good scrub and leather conditioner the bag doesn’t really look restored just more clean. We can see the water stain on the bottom is still present as are the strains on the handle strap but a good go at it!

This is the exact purse I asked my sister to buy for me on one of her trips to Paris back in the early 80's. The Petit Noe. I gave her $100 I still have it and though it's in great condition I'm going to use these tips to clean mine.
It was only 100$ back then? I know, inflation etc but I dod not know that it was only 100$ back then. It was so much easier to buy LV bag back then

For the price tag on these bags the leather doesn’t hold up very well. It could be the way the owner takes care of it too. I own a lot of leather bags but I make sure to condition them from time to time.
The music on this video sounds more suited to people going into battle versus cleaning a designer bag…. 😂 But informative video nonetheless

hi ! i got this bag in preloved condition and took it for a vacchetta recolor, and now it is light. Do you know if someday the vacchetta will still naturally go darker? thanks in advance!
If the vachetta leather was re-dyed, yes it will be naturally darker. But if it was re-painted, no.
@@RepairStudio May I ask what is the difference between re-dying and repainting vachetta leather? Also I was under the assumption that type of leather was untreated and not dyed therefore the process of patina taking place overtime.

This is back when LV used real brass and the finest materials for their handbags. It was worth the high price cause you were getting the best. That is no longer the case. I purposely chose for my LV Speedy to be a Speedy from this era of excellent craftsmanship and quality. I wanted to own something that truly symbolized what LV was built on and what it stood for. Luckily, I was able to find an excellent, pristine preowned Speedy from this era at a good price. I will never sell her.

once it is dried, it becomes lighter :)

It's depending on condition of leather. It may darken the leather a little bit.

You can try LV Store for original or etsy for similar straps.
You can also try Dress Up Your Purse for replacement straps and drawstrings. She offers vachetta in different levels of patina so you can match them to your bag.

I found one just like this at goodwill in Sarasota Florida. I couldn’t believe my eyes it needs cleaning made in the USA it is 100 % authentic in great condition just needs cleaning I appreciate this video.

I have this exact same bag. It is 33 years old and I am working to restore it using the methods you are showing. My only question is, I have read that neatsfoot should be avoided on leather. Can you please tell me if its damaging or not? Thank you so much.

How do you remove that horrible leather stain that is still on the bottom of this purse or is it not removeable because it can still be seen in the final shots, and that's the exact type of stain I have and want to remove.
If the stain is too deep then, there is no way to remove it since the leather absorbed stain.So normally, trying to lighten the damaged area and then darken the whole bottom.

How to remove dye on the leather? Handle or arm shoulder bag on Vernis?
It's totally depending on condition, so I have to check it first. Normally it's not easy to remove dye on leather.
unfortunately it appears removing the darker water stain is not possible. The only option is to make it blend in more by adding restoration oil which makes leather surrounding the dark stain blend tonally.
I will keep searching for a true water stain repair to leather but have a feeling it is just not doable.

I believe the best way is preventative , specially for water marks... spraying the leather with a good protector : )
as somebody who has restored a number of saddles and boots, and such of my own being a Horseman for years, I have found many tricks of the trade, but this is such a ridiculous end result the water stain is still there

I am guessing it is air in a can like you use to clean computer keyboards. Any office supply should have that.

Чтобы убрать пятно, дно сумки нужно обезжирить и покрыть специальной краской, так и называется «vachetta», а сверху финишем на полиуретановой основе, чтобы не стиралась и не оставалось пятен.

Has it completely dried? I cleaned mine before using kiwi saddle soap and it didn’t darken when dry. It’s more or less the same. But I got rid of the watermarks. It’s not very obvious anymore.

I have a vintage tooled leather camel colored leather bag with a terrible water stain on a part of it. That situation is prob hopeless.
However, I have an amazing antique Florentine hump-back box; interior beautifully finished with soft suede and leather covered sectioned insert tray. It really is a prize!! But the top half of lid is two shades darker (originally light buttery camel colored leather) from a stain. Stain type is not known; could be from another cleaning try; could be from water; could be some kind of oil spill.
Any advice appreciated. I will love it, as it is such a fine box but I'd like to achieve an even finish and all reasonable ideas thrown at me will be considered.

watermark generally can't be removable unless you paint it over.(*Minor mark might be removable) So usually darken the other area to match the brightness.
@T T you can use leather dye or leather paint, but it won't look like a natural after painting.

I guess there is no definitive way to get rid of the water stains 😭
unfortunately it's hard to remove the water stain. we can try to cover them or make it lighter..
One method which is a little risky would be to gently steam the surrounding area before it has been waxed / protected, dry off and buff with a soft cloth then the whole area will take on the darker colour. Leave for a day or two to fully dry out naturally, then seal protect with wax emollient

Keep in mind that any restoration is not going to be as new or original. Wear does show that the owner loved the item, not making it perfect.

No. I think they are repulsive. But I have NEVER been one to buy items with someone's ego (initials) emblazoned repeatedly over it an original item, as advertisement.
It is self aggrandizement at the highest level. Besides that the industrial Duranodic brown background color and shiny leather finish is awful, the bag designs are just plain ugly.
But it seems to be a win-win: the seller gets their initials advertised and the owner gets off on people knowing they paid an exorbitant price for their ugly item.
I find it hilarious.
Here's a kicker; I also find the quilted Chanel bags ugly and would never buy one. I could afford one but hate quilting and shine. Looks cheap. I'm thinking they may be appealing to quilters.
Brass doesn’t rust and it isn’t green. The green is oxidation and or corrosion from water of some sort.
