I don't really know what culture you're writing from, as a non-white American born citizen myself. @@takemetoyonk Well, I'm not a native English speaker and I'm from Europe, we have a tradition dating from thousands of years ago of celebrating the winter solstice with our closest ones and exchanging happiness, I wasn't raised Christian and in my country a majority of people are far from Christian but Christmas is a deeply European tradition, it's not necessarily religious but some want it to be.

Having the original Switch release in March was no doubt a [fiscal] year-end boost for the underperforming Wii U era. Given all the success they've been having lately, a strong first quarter for 2025/6 seems better than padding the last quarter of this year, which was still quite strong. I still think your prediction of a Switch 1 Direct is highly likely. Regardless of when the new console launches, they need enticing software for the spring. If Metroid Prime 4 sells, e.g., 5 million units, that would be a runaway success for that franchise. But surely that can't be enough to satisfy investors. I will be playing Xenoblade regardless, but there must be more to their plan than we currently know. I don't envy their position. When they launched the Switch they didn't have to worry about the install base for the previous generation. This time they have to navigate that tension.
If Metroid Prime 4 sells more than 1 million units Nintendo would be happy. And if investors aren't satisfied they should leave since it would mean they don't have the same long term objectives as the company.

Casual people (who would not follow the kind of analysis offered through channels like this) probably assume Metroid is a primary IP for Nintendo, but it has always been niche (which baffles me). I think you're half right. Reasonable expectations have to be set for MP4. But that's why MP4 can't be the only major game to release in a quarter. Since we don't know much of anything after Xenoblade Chronicles X, there should be a beefy Direct forthcoming with a lot of Switch 1 or cross-gen announcements.

Should it be aomething that is manually created, from the perspective of a viewer, it does appear to perhaps be an instance of the video's script being inserted and not altered when tangents or alterations occur. I am lucky in that I effectively only use subtitles due to personal preference. However, for those who require them to enjoy your content, I would be saddened to find out if they are missing out on sometimes pretty relevant information to the flow of the video. As mentioned above, I rarely comment - as such, there is a chance this may come across as preachy or particularly formal. However, I simply wished to raise an issue that has piqued my interest for a fair period of time. I do wonder if thats why the reveal was promised _this_ fiscal year. I do think its likely coincidence, though. For the most part, a lot of the timing would simply be due to when is most profitable; periods of time when customers are more likely to purchase (such as holiday seasons). Notably, the end of the fiscal year is in the middle of the deadzone between Christmas and Summer. I think its simply likely that timings span over the change of fiscal year simply because of where the fiscal year ends.
They never said reveal. They never said they would reveal the console. Their statement was "we will make an announcement about the switch successor before the end of this fiscal year". This is not them saying they will reveal the console. Very distinct wording used. The announcement in question could be as simple as, stay tuned for this date when we officially reveal the console or we are currently working on the next switch console.... So yeah! Glad I could clear that up.
Thats actually not true. Nintendo has had consoles revealed and released in the same fiscal year. Look at the Switch. Revealed October. Came out March 3rd (3/31 is the year end). Nintendo DS was shown off at E3 2004 and released in the fall of 2004

The NX was announced years before though and there was a Nov 23 announcement of the plan to launch DS.
