I happened upon this clip. I saw the movie Rock Star years ago and understood Mark Walbergs part. I was young once and saw the Beatles for the first time on Ed Sullivan and at that moment I knew I wanted to be just like them, a rock star. Got into a band and devoted all my time and energy into becoming a rock star did not even attempt to do well in school just play the drum and chase my dream of becoming a rock star. Played all through high school and into college dreaming of nothing but becoming a rock star. Then life happened I got drafted into the Army, got married, had four children and now have seven grandchildren , sometimes you are supposed to live the life you live. Just like Walberg in the movie Rock Star, he realized that being the rock star he dreamed of being was not what he really wanted after living it. If there were a magic Jeannie in a bottle suddenly granting my wish to be a rock star, I would not change a minute of the life I have lived. No rock star life could compare to the life I have had.
Funny how we all wish for something while we are young and then little to big changes happen during our journey. People we meet, people we create and experiences we have.....wouldnt change a thing I've never been happier. You nailed it my friend and as for you, keep pounding those drums and Rock on.😎😎😎
No the guy that gets the mic is Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge. The guy Wahlberg is lip synching over is Mike Matjivic (I know I spelled that wrong) from an old 80's band called Steelheart.
Mili Matijevic is the voice behind Mark Wahlberg's character Chris "Izzy" Coles. Jeff Soto did the vocals for Jason Flemyng's character Bobby Beers, the guy Chris replaced. This was a GREAT movie!!!
This is one of my most favorite scenes altogether. Not only is the song killer, it's the sense of dread that it starts with and the feelings of relief and freedom that it ends with. But, it is like spreading a virus when he hands it off to the kid. I'm not a Mark Wahlberg fan but, I always enjoy his movies. This and Invincible are must watch entertainment.
Why is there so much debate of who sang what? Michael Matijevic provided the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg. Jeff Scott Soto provided the singing voice for the Bobby Beers role and Myles Kennedy provided the voice of "Thor". To see more Myles Kennedy check out "The Mayfield Four" and "Alter Bridge".
It's kind of funny to go back and watch this knowing this film came out just a couple of years before Alter Bridge debuted. And Myles is a great vocalist. I grew up as a huge Creed fan and was disheartened when they broke up. They were actually the band that got me into hard rock music. But when I first heard the song "Open Your Eyes" by Alter Bridge, I was glad to see another great band come about.
Mike Matijevic and Myles Kennedy who wouldn't love to see a duet with those voices?? And Kennedy doesn't even do alot of screaming on his albums and listen to that!!!!!!!!
The band members are portrayed by ex-Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson, Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde (Zakk's rhythm guitarist Nick Catanese plays the lead guitarist in Chris' tribute band Blood Pollution), actor and guitarist Dominic West, and current Foreigner drummer and son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, Jason Bonham. Myles Kennedy, from Alter Bridge fame makes an appearance as 'Thor' in the movie. Wikipedia told me this
Steelheart, and the original singer is singing for Mark. Mark is lipsyncing and the dude in the audience who comes up to sing is Myles from Alter Bridge
I love this song, and this part of the movie, but one thing that strikes me is how Izzy/Chris (Mark Whalberg) manages to hear Thor (Myles Kennedy) so easily in the crowd at an 80's concert.. Fans just simply weren't that quiet!

Stand up & shout used a mix of vocal's, including Wahlberg. The Main voice - Vocalist, Miljenko Matijevic from Steel Heart. I agree though. The mix of Matijevic,Zakk Wylde's (Metaltronics Amps) Jeff Pilson Bass ( Dokken ) & Jason Bohnam (Drums) Made this song a colaboration of Truly(Metal Gods)the original title for the film - ROCKSTAR.
probably not as young as you might think he was. he is turning 40 this year and this movie came out in 2001. aim5100, yes, that is Myles voice. that would be why it sounds familiar.

LMFAO!!! I know this is an older post, but I have to reply. that's great. he really isn't going to live this down. lol. I saw a video of him doing sorrow live with sevendust in atlanta this past summer, and after the song lajon (their lead singer) totally put Myles over as the best singer in rock, then one of the other guys in the band yelled "stand up and shout." lol. so funny. then lajon told the crowd that he was in this movie. Myles was probably off to the side of the stage shaking his head.

@SwampAshSpecial i agree with you... the metal guys from the 80's just faded out when grunge came, they didn't just jump on the bandwagon. They tried to carry on, but eventually got swept under the carpet. Especially Glam. Although, in the case of the movie, maybe....forgotten his name :/... well yeah "marky mark" was originally just a follower and he worshiped the original singer. After being in the band and everything, maybe he just decided to have his own identity.
I mean I takes me back to the beginning of the movie. When the singer tells him to live his own life, write his owns songs. The moment he saw the kid, he knew he was never going to be original. He knew he could always be replaced.
@trishdadish82 Noooooooooo. Him being in Steel Dragon is where he was the sellout. That's kind of the whole point of the movie. How could you misunderstand it so much? Him doing his own thing was him finally realizing that.
@@cameronhubbard415 it wasnt a curse. It was also an experience. A gift. There are trials and tribulations. Cant have the good without the bad. It's all a matter of perspective

Still can't believe that's Myles Kennedy, now he is awesome! What a voice, can not wait to see him live :)
Saw him last year with alter bridge. Awesome live.
Well we saw him with Slash and he ended up being a failure, sad.
Saw him with Alter Bridge. He was awesome
