    Theres a guy from Blackpool who does regular video's there, he did one at Christmas at night and while not as dead as Hanley he remarked how strange it was that there weren't many people about.
    I think it's all by design, and planned for a long time, look how many pubs have closed and how they stopped smoking in pubs many years ago.
    Look how they are letting in all these immigrants.
    Something ain't right that's for sure, and I have a bad feeling about the future.

      The immigrants are part of a plan which is called "The great replacement" The idea is to displace millions of young men, usually muslim and of fighting age - People that despise British people, their values and way of living. . its an attack on the Christian family structure which ultimately is the foundation and strength of a society. Whats the ultimate plan? No family, no identity and complete anarchy. Have you not noticed that England is kinda been colonised? Why is it that a white english woman gets arrested for praying in the street but THOUSANDS of Muslims can pray in public? The country is run by a indain and a pakistani (Sunak and Yusuf) 😂 Look at all the "asylum seekers" they get priorities over british citizens... My friend, I'll stop here, but I could rant all day about this as its very disturbing, what is happening in the UK right now (I'm scottish) and people need to bloody open their eyes and see whats happening.

    I hear you. The very first nightclub I ever went to was The Place! Thinking back to the 80s, all those clubs. What young person DIDN'T go clubbing at the weekend in those days. And for at least two decades of my life I used to go shopping in Hanley every Saturday. It was so bright and busy. I stopped going to Hanley completely a few years back as each time it made me feel depressed. I hope to never have to go again: sad to say, but true. I just went over to your website btw - looks fabulous!

      Yes, if I think about it, it makes me sad as well. Same for Meir, where I grew up. Driving through there, I always mentally superimpose the old shops, such as the newsagent, the fruit and veg shop, the garden centre, the gift shop, the cake shop etc. onto all those takeaway shops that have taken their place. @@TheRedHairedStokie

    Grew up in Stoke and my clubbing days would have been the 80s/90s. 'The Place' used to be packed every weekend !! Great memories. Can hardly believe what I'm now seeing in your vids! Newcastle was the other big pub/club location. Has that gone the same way I wonder? Very sad.

    This is happening everywhere.The councils charge too much for business rates which have forced businesses to close down.Including the pubs and clubs.
    The stratospheric cost of living these days also means people can’t afford to go out anymore.

    It is very strange that the city centre is not just in decline but almost literally falling down, the town hall up for sale, but the council deemed fit to build a £93,000,000 multi storey car park that is neither use nor ornament. And what has happened to the £20,000,000 they received from the government?

    • @TheRedHairedStokie
      @TheRedHairedStokie  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Who knows. The council is on the edge of bankruptcy so there are a lot of questions that need answering.

    • @rogermoore-gd9do
      @rogermoore-gd9do 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are local you will know the Smithfield car park cost £15m and is mostly for the Smithfield workers. You will also know the council said last week they intend to build another office there soon. These offices cant be built all at once they take time and money the council dont currently have. Read up on the site for details.

    • @LucyKelly-of6cu
      @LucyKelly-of6cu 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is corruption. They must have given themselves the work, resulting in their getting all of the money. There needs to be a Freedom of Information request to the council about who got the contracts, and investigation into whether they are connected to the council! Vote in completely different people, next time! Although you may find sabotage resulting from this, as the Establishment fights to keep its position!

    It's not only Stoke on Trent, I supposed a lot of towns in the Uk are in similar situation. Emptied and run down buildings everywhere.What is going on in the UK ? Yet the PM just visited Ukraine and promised to pump 20 Billions to support the war against Russia. The money should go to the local council s to revive the cities. Doesn't make sense at all.

    the big buildings are 'owned' by hedge funds usually and are more than often purchased with debt. their only purpose is to sit large amounts of money in them as an asset, rather than have the cash depreciate in the bank, or be gambled on stocks and bonds. its really a failure of the banking system rather than anything else.

    @aliengrey6052 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I am from Stoke on Trent. From the time I was born I couldn’t wait to get away from it. There are lots of reasons why it has bombed. Foreign influences is one, lack of foresight and education of the people on the councils is another. The biggest one is corruption by far. Brown paper bag backhanders from companies making a quick buck out of weird schemes with absolutely no care for the community in which they will impact is the main one. The Victoria hall in Hanley was a great venue for the top bands of the day, it was intimate to a large degree but large enough for three thousand people. I went every week and saw all the top bands of the day. It was the highlight of the city. Councils threw away the pottery heritage and didn’t develop what was important. Stoke people have been let down. And there’s no going back I’m afraid. I’m one of the lucky ones, I escaped and currently live in a barn conversion in a sleepy Devon village near Dartmoor. Happy times in Stoke on Trent. Nice people. Buts that’s all in the past. Now drug a drug ridden dross filled nightmare of a place with memories of the past of kind hardworking people most happy with their lot. Alas no more.

    This year real term incomes will fall below 2006, do the maths. If nobody has disposable income that means clubs, pubs, etc have no customers. What you see here is now common across the UK and will only get worse. To put it into context even Michel Roux Jnr just shut his restaurant that's been open since 1967, if the upper middle class can't fill 20-30 tables a night anymore then how much money do you think the working and lower middle classes have to spend on "luxuries" outside of putting their heating on for an hour or two a night?
