    does your car have dash speakers? does your car have an amp? if yes, which one and how much power are the speakers seeing? lots of ambiguous comments w/o providing specific detail to help the consumer make an informed decision. just sayin'...

    How would you say these compare to the similarly priced Virtus speakers from Morel? I like a good midrange in my speakers but I also want overall good SQL from my components and I noticed the Morrells handle about double the RMS. Would you say that these are overall better speakers for an SQL build or the Morels?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both do offer top notch sound quality. The Focals offer more pronounced highs and the Morels are warmer on top. What do you tend to like better there? What will you be using for power?

    Which one do you think is better?
    Focal expert or focal slatefiber

      We like both! And we like for our customers to get the sound they seek or prefer. If there is no preference that makes either a better choice, then the Expert series' adjustable crossover may be able to make an impactful difference and make them the better choice

      Listening is very personal, and both options are great quality component speakers both using different materials and technology. Use our SpeakerCompare portal below and give them a listen and decide for yourself!

    In terms of detail and overall SQ how would you say these compare to the Sony XS-162ES components?

      Both great options. Do you prefer a warmer tweeter or more pronounced highs? What do you plan to use for power?

      I’m guessing Sonys are warmer?

    Your recommendation on the video is to power these speakers with a nice amplifier, considering Focal FPX line...can you tell the difference between the FPX 4.400 SQ and the FPX 4.800? Is there a noticeable SQ difference between them?...is the sound on the 4.400 SQ amp warmer for example?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Focal FPX 4.400 SQ is the ideal match here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_091FPX4400/item.html

      @@crutchfield Thank you, in that case what about the Morel MPS 4.400 amplifier..similar choice SQ wise?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Focal allows the user to customize the audio more for their needs. If the audio controls you will use are found in both, then the Morel MPS 4.400 has a higher separation between the audio and the noise within the audio making it sound cleaner than the Focal. Here is the Morel amp:

    I have the flax evo 3 ways in my car and was wondering how these would compare. I love my current setup but was thinking of upgrading to the k2 power 3-ways. I was just curious how the slate fiber components would compare to the flax evos or k2 powers 🤔

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The slatefiber cone does allow for a bit more detail in the midrange. The overall sound quality and performance is pretty close between the two series.

    What's the difference between these and the flax evo component set? These are $30 cheaper is there a big difference?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference in their sound is a minor one. It might be one that the only way some would ever hear it would be to play them side-by-side. The Flax Evo models woofer is made from lighter weight materials which help it move with less power. Its not so significantly lighter so its not a night/day level change but; more like a single step level change. That makes it a little better sounding when running with radio power. This Slatefiber model will play more lively of the two models when powered by an amp.

      @@crutchfield iirc the Slatefiber cone is about 12 grams while the Flax is about 15 grams.

    Is my 100W RMS power amplifier suitable for this speaker? My amp Kenwood Hqr-1004. Thanks!

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100-watts RMS is too powerful for the slate fiber speakers, they cannot handle that much RMS wattage. You could damage your new speakers, and we would not want that! ES components from Focal in the link below would be a great match, as they are rated for 100-watts RMS.

      To ensure you get the best use of a midrange driver, you should get one that comes with a crossover and handles around the same power as the speaker. The Pioneer TS-A879 midrange drivers match this and are close to the size you want. They can be found here:

    focal k2 power m sub5 for rear truck wheel subwoofer

      Hi Kayne, these are excellent component choices! Do you have the hatchback or sedan? Did your car come with Bose? If not, how many factory speakers did it come with? Do you already have a sub box?

      It sounds like a fantastic setup to me. You'll need to custom install the 3-ways and use component amplification for the best possible performance. What size subwoofer were you planning? Do you want to run a single amp that powers everything or run dual amps?

    • @kaynemitchell8442
      @kaynemitchell8442 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @crutchfield the sub is the focal k2 power m 5 inch going in the truck in the spare wheel where the factory bose one is, the plan will run dual amplifiers 4 channel for the speakers something maybe can mount to the bose amp mounting bracket under drivers seat and single channel for the sub in the truck

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is certainly possible to discreetly mount your amps, and you will be limited to 200-watts RMS for the Focal K2 5 3/4" subwoofer. What has got you choosing the Flax 3-ways for the front stage and the slate fiber for the rears?
