yeah its strange even when I watch jcs type videos or just overhaul police arrest I feel super weird abt it not that its a bad thing to consume but there is like you said that morbid curiosity at the end of the day and I think people forget that these are real ppl on screen but maybe I'm reading way too much into to it but thank you for the talk
The other thing with JCS and the JCS clones (and a lot of true crime tbh) where because of its proximity to the legal system but generally only really examining interrogations it creates a kind of narrative around interrogations and policing that isn’t really right. I forget if it was JCS or a clone, but one such channel cited investigative tactics like the Reid technique as completely legitimate interrogation practices and not a bullying tactic liable to return a lot of false confessions
As someone who wants to be a forensic therapist, I never tell people I like true crime, I just tell them I like psychology 😭 New sub!! Love your piercings
I don't want to say the name because I want the person to rest peacefully, but I remember the friend of someone who was the subject of shock content saying something to the effect of; "my friend is not a shock video."
frrr!! ive always thought this its nice to see somebody else talk about it, i hate ppl on the internet 😭😭 also like the minion ai videos that have come up r so disturbing and everybodies so casual about it, like thats ppl dying it aint funny!! anyways loved the video ur so cool i will be watching ur videos from now on!! :D merry christmas!! 🎄🎄🎅
I personally thought that I was heavily desensitized because I was made to see things with audio I don't think I should describe on here. Last time, I got upset over people being desensitized, I realized that me, having remorse, and wanting to be able to be sensitive to cruelty, have been able to be sensitive to things that are intensely brutal, that the majority of people today wouldn't be able to detect as anything other than slapstick, though the odd distinction is that slapstick isn't a real scenario being filmed. Even in general media, it is shown that people are already desensitized. Scenes may be shown much more realistically, to the point where they'll be indistinguishable to the real thing. And wounds, or deaths, aren't implied anymore, they are often just straight up shown as they happen on screen. In movies that aren't even of the horror genre, or in cutscenes in video games.
I feel like I've only become more sensitive over time, I can't stand the type of content I used to watch as a teen anymore. I still kinda love horror though, Dead Space is among my favourite games.
Gave me a new perspective i dont feel like true crime is that bad i guess because it may spread awarness i havent really heard about people who talk on truecrime as if its something fun or cute but they also seem to be disgusted on them but yh i get your point of view especially with the family of the victims
Documentation done professionally for the purposes of archival is fine, even gossip entertainment such as podcasts and the like are also fine, we can argue semantics about who profits from tragedy more. I believe AI content farms will soon start replacing the lazy, uninspired true crime commentary channels, since AI will churn out those videos quicker. I say this because JCS, the top dog of the scene, recently had controversy over AI usage in their latest video, firing Kizzume Fowler (the narrator) and replacing him for an AI that sounds like him. Other JCS clones will definitely follow suite, probably cutting off their narrators as well, and the clones of the clone channels will do the same, all for cutting cost. I wouldn't call it profiteering from death, the line is a fair bit away from being crossed, it's just supplying demand at the end of the day. Perhaps I'm wrong, and this observation of mine ultimately doesn't matter, it's interesting nonetheless! Maybe the lazy true crime channels will actually make better videos, maybe it's already been overtaken by AI, or maybe nothing changes because you really couldn't tell the difference either way.

true crime is strange to me. Listening to someone's death as a hobby is questionable. Even so it COULD be done well if it was given the proper respect
