Captain crimsons seems to be a popular choice now because of some of the changes that were made. You get more cooldown and a bit more survivability with crimsons, which leads to more BBV uptime. It’s a really good option to try
i don't like to take glodwrap for survive. i tried it and it's just not relyable. often enough the bonus runs out for me and i'm onehit. isn't there any better way? especially on bossfights where you don't have any gold drop during the fight. Edit: Also why do you need Haunt? Isn't Locustswarm enough to trigger the damage-bonus? Other build-guides i saw utilizing this ring only use ls.
Gold wrap is amazing when paired with boon of the hoarder gem that sprays gold everywhere. Haunt is more damage but takes longer to apply, locust swarms is way easier to apply but you get no damage bonus. Up to you which you’d like to use :)
Hey raxx have you tried using the rune that allows you to haunt 2 enemies at once and the belt that haunts? I've tried it a bit and it makes it way easier to haunt everything. In my opinion it's not that bad but I'd like to know what you think if you have tried or thought of using it
Supposedly they are changing the Ring of Emptiness so you get the bonus for Haunt OR Locust Swarm instead of AND, so you won't need Locust Swarm and can use the slot for another skill. Also, it helps to spam Haunt (w/ Lingering tune) while you are running around looking for enemies because they will sniff them out for you and you won't have to cast it as much while you're in a fight.

Played this on the PTR and absolutely loved it. So fun to play once you get used to the playstyle. The visual clutter with this build even tho it looks nice can be a bit annoying imho. The sound design is great tho - very satisfying hearing everything sqoosh and explode :D Will definitely return for a few days maybe weeks to push some rifts (I mean it's d3.. it usually gets old really quick).
I ve played a few meta and got one question. After the cold cycle, should I explode phantasms manually immediately or continue haunting and leave them explode after timeout ?

What are your thoughts on implementing "Voo's Juicer" into a SB build? I'm currently using it in my cube as I gather the last few pieces of gear to complete my build and seems to help a lot since it gives me two more runes for SB that regen mana and health. I notice that nobody is using it in their SB builds and I don't understand why they aren't.

Is this build too mechanically intensive for controller, or could I pull this off on Xbox? Without a mouse I can only target abilities in a certain direction with the joystick, instead of clicking on the screen.

I have just one question about this Mundunugu build. I have 59% cr chance and set in Options -> Gameplay -> Show Crit DMG numbers but I don't see any crits from the Spirit Barrage spell with this build. Any idea on why is that? If I remove the Barber, the crits appear again. Even the monsters explode by releasing the stacked dmg from the Barber, I still do not see crit dmg numbers. It's like cr dmg never procs with this build. I wonder why some use Pain Enhancer gem when there is no crits to proc it at all.
Hello my friend, I think the way the barber accumulated the damage impacts the ability for it to display properly. The damage is definitely there, just a visual bug

After watching ur videos few times to try to understand the mechanism, in my own words, the skills rotation are cast three times spirit barrage in group mobs pack and keep casting haunt/locust swarm until the explosion of the three phantasms.
this build is fun and i enjoy it a lot when i’m not dying, i know i need more practice with it but i just don’t get why it’s so squishy. i remember fully buffed from big bad voodoo/10x soul harvest and all other things i checked my stats i’m at 368m armor why the hell was i still getting one shot at t16 ??

I've been trying it out on the PTR, and its really not that difficult! might be a tad hard at first but once you get the full set of gear things will get a load easier, and by that point youll have figured out a good rotation for yourself!
It's definitely not boring and takes getting used to, but you'll get comfortable with it pretty quickly. With any WD build, you're always soul harvesting to keep your stacks up. Otherwise, with this build you're just running around with a Manitou over your head while putting Haunt on everything and Locust Swarm, which spreads on its own pretty well. Big Bad Voodoo also needs to be kept up as much as possible.
I played Jade WD recently and found it quite fun. Took a while to get it down, but was very rewarding. This build seems to be somewhat similar but the change to Ring of Emptiness should make it (and Jade) easier to play and stronger. Can't wait to play this build!
might be a silly question by why do i see a lot of videos where the Templar is flashing because no skills have been chosen, is this intentional and if so, Why ?
to get the RoE buff, I thought you only needed Locust to activate it therefore, making Haunt redundant. However, I'm not sure if Haunt+Locust stack the RoE buff. Is this why you recommend both?
The reason why people take both is locust swarm spreads everywhere easily, applying the buff, but haunt makes you do more damage. However if you look at the WD leaderboards, everyone is doing something a little bit different. There is some flexibility with how you build this
Have all the gear but its not ancienta. Does it really make a difference that i have ancients to be less squishy? Or is it because im missing travelers compass combo. Those are the last two items from d3 planner i need...
The good thing about having ancients is you can augment them (destroy a legendary gem to give you more main stat). This give you a big power and surviability boost. So full ancients is in the end game goal

Actually this sudden massive damage comes from the accumulation of Manitou's hits (from the Barber ability) which blows at 30:43 because Raxx hides himself behind the wall and loses contact with the RG
I’m fairly new to diablo, I’ve played necro and wiz so far, just got to level 54 with WD. Any tips on how I can aquire these items for future reference?
The best way to acquire the items after you’ve hit 70 is to run the highest level GR you can clear every time in under 3 minutes. That will give you a steady stream of legendaries and blood shards to make your build
Attack speed is quite good with this build, it gives you more mana regen from the passive and also makes you waste less time haunting enemies. So if you don't get an ancient ring with double crit and dmg range it is a decent replacement. During my PTR testing I also found that the pestilence rune on locust swarm is not really needed if you aren't going for speed. You will need to cast 1 or 2 extra swarms when you make a pull, but the 25% reduced dmg from cloud of insects was well worth it to me, considering how squishy the build is overall.
Really good build explanation, thank you. I enjoy all the skills except soul harvest. It’s exhausting constantly checking it won’t drop off. I think I’ll have to up my gameplay and move faster! 🙂in non gr content I tend to be ‘ ooh look shiny 🤩’ usually that’s the last thing I think before being killed whilst picking up. 😆

Hi Rax! Very cool guide, your WD play is exquisite, and i'm glad that you highlighted the risk-reward factor of the character. This is what i like the most in WD :) On the other hand, I am still really interested if the build is gonna cause lag in 4 man parties or not. have you tested it with a group? I know it's early, but I too think that the trash clearing ability is just huge! Would you compare it with like 2 wizard dps instead of 1 WD+1RGK? (ofc with wizard without the bugged AT) Furthermore, can you confirm that the RoE is a better multiplier than Voo's Juicer's 60% Spirit Barrage damage? I was using that build so i can move around more freely and can avoid the downtime from casting other spells like Haunt and Insect Swarm. Thank you in advance, and sorry for the many questions :D
Good questions. In 4 player it did lag, but the PTR servers are so bad that I can’t tell if it’ll lag on live or not. The voos juicer is another great option, but I think the ring of emptiness is slightly more damage. I didn’t theorycraft it to an extreme level though, and some Wds were indeed using juicer

Guillaume Lessard one of the iterations had 2 weapons and 1 armour in the cube. Sacred harvester and echoing fury I think it was. Not everyone on ptr is testing in the season so they won’t have access to the buff.
Hey Rax, after you cast 3 spirit barrage, is it best to just let the barrages explode on their own, or should we spam spirit barrages after casting haunt?
WD builds have always very unique mechanics. I wonder if spirit barrage will perform better then Carnevil Builds. For me it seems it won't. Also Carnevil can benefit from season buff because you don't really need the jewelry slot with LoD version. Thanks for the guide and all your content.
I see wd is really crushing down everything this season. The "life on hit" stat should be only on bracers ? if I have it on other items, does it stack ?
Right. Locust swarms spreads everywhere, and haunt gives you increased damage which is why you can still use both. Or you can slot out one or the other for something else of your choosing :)

It is a great option, and I use it in the 4 player build. You could use it in solo if you’re comfortable surviving :)

I’d judge it by your play style and how often big bad voodoo is up. If it’s up all the time, you’re good. Otherwise grab more cooldown
In the group build, why is Enforcer still being used? with the belt change we are no longer summoning fetishes. Am I misunderstanding something?
Phantasms are pets, that's why we take enforcer

Ideally you'll let them explode until they run out, then recast. But it doesn't always go that perfectly in solo

Voos Juicer is a good option, but I just don't think its as strong as using sacred harvester + the barber

What's the point of getting a build specifically for T16 farming? Wouldn't running GR's be more efficient for getting legendary and set drops?
Yes, but you need a T16 build to get the keys to be able to open greater rifts

How can i select echoing fury and in-geom both in the cube ?? It allows me only one weapon
That was the buff for Season 20. But its coming back in Season 22 as you get a 4th cube slot which can have anything!

I noticed in your D3 Planner build guide you've replaced Haunt with Piranhas, is the strategy the same with this substitute?
Yes, just have to haunt less and use piranhas to gather monsters onto your phantasms. Should actually be easier to play

Definitely do not use area damage, it doesn’t work with the accumulated damage of spirit barrage.

It doesn't double dip, locust swarm is so it applies to everything, haunt is because it gives you extra damage

I like to gamble for the armor pieces and offhands first since they only cost 25 bloodshards - easier to get.

We don’t take a skill in the 3rd tier

yes, in general going for the same stuff. you can probably get away with skipping the life on hit roll for groups though since you have a zmonk.

It's just spirit barrage damage ramping up, and we also have bane of the stricken which makes us do more damage

Does it matter which dagger you cube and which you equip?
You can interchange them, wear whichever one you get a better one of

Attack speed is quite good with this build, it gives you more mana regen from the passive and also makes you waste less time haunting enemies. So if you don't get an ancient ring with double crit and dmg range it is a decent replacement.
During my PTR testing I also found that the pestilence rune on locust swarm is not really needed if you aren't going for speed. You will need to cast 1 or 2 extra swarms when you make a pull, but the 25% reduced dmg from cloud of insects was well worth it to me, considering how squishy the build is overall.
I did use that rune as well in the beginning because I was getting so wrecked, I agree, the DR is nice

I think I’ll have to up my gameplay and move faster! 🙂in non gr content I tend to be ‘ ooh look shiny 🤩’ usually that’s the last thing I think before being killed whilst picking up. 😆

Yes it should be, the only thing season specific is the seasonal buff I believe

Very cool guide, your WD play is exquisite, and i'm glad that you highlighted the risk-reward factor of the character. This is what i like the most in WD :)
On the other hand, I am still really interested if the build is gonna cause lag in 4 man parties or not. have you tested it with a group? I know it's early, but I too think that the trash clearing ability is just huge! Would you compare it with like 2 wizard dps instead of 1 WD+1RGK? (ofc with wizard without the bugged AT)
Furthermore, can you confirm that the RoE is a better multiplier than Voo's Juicer's 60% Spirit Barrage damage? I was using that build so i can move around more freely and can avoid the downtime from casting other spells like Haunt and Insect Swarm.

Good questions. In 4 player it did lag, but the PTR servers are so bad that I can’t tell if it’ll lag on live or not. The voos juicer is another great option, but I think the ring of emptiness is slightly more damage. I didn’t theorycraft it to an extreme level though, and some Wds were indeed using juicer

Have you played around with the seasonal buff? All the builds I have seen, no one is playing with the cube... always standard builds.
Guillaume Lessard one of the iterations had 2 weapons and 1 armour in the cube. Sacred harvester and echoing fury I think it was. Not everyone on ptr is testing in the season so they won’t have access to the buff.
Hey Rax, after you cast 3 spirit barrage, is it best to just let the barrages explode on their own, or should we spam spirit barrages after casting haunt?
If you can after the 3, jump into an occy and let them build up and explode
I wonder if WD can go up to 5-6billion toughness like LoD Hydra :D

what about vision quest with something like spider queen, 40% increased mana regen seems op
it makes it very hard to use ring of emptiness with vision quest, so you're losing a 300% multiplier.
As a WD main, I am looking forward to this new build. Hoping to run some 4 man parties with WDs, have a new ZDPS WD build I want to try in a party.
WD builds have always very unique mechanics. I wonder if spirit barrage will perform better then Carnevil Builds. For me it seems it won't. Also Carnevil can benefit from season buff because you don't really need the jewelry slot with LoD version. Thanks for the guide and all your content.

I see wd is really crushing down everything this season. The "life on hit" stat should be only on bracers ? if I have it on other items, does it stack ?
I’d just grab it on bracers and you should be good to go. It does add up though if you get it elsewhere

depends on what GR difficulty, could probably do up to GR90 fairly quickly w/ moderate gear and 800 paragon points.
I just cleared GR 75 in 4:19 with less than 400 paragon points and so-so gear.

FYI - Ring of Emptiness now says You deal increased damage with either your Haunt or Locust Swarm. It was patched and no longer stacks.
Right. Locust swarms spreads everywhere, and haunt gives you increased damage which is why you can still use both. Or you can slot out one or the other for something else of your choosing :)
