Dr Morales discusses exercising after breast augmentation

  • Here is another educational video, I hope you find helpful. Exercising after breast augmentation. If you have been one of my patients, you've heard "the talk". But if not, and you have implants, please just take some time to hear me out. I return all my post-breast augmentation patients "back to life" with no restrictions last 2 months. One of the biggest topics is exercising. There are 3 exercises that I strongly discourage. With a sub pectoral (under the muscle) augmentation, there is a risk of lateral displacement of the implant (called lateral malposition). This risk is very high in patients who insist on training their chest! Athletes such as bodybuilders, powerlifters, racquet sports I find, are the patients at highest risk. My goal is to reduce complications, and ensure a long lasting result after augmentation. For those women who may feel they have lateral malposition, a revision surgery may be indicated. Hope you like the video! Thanks for following!

    He is 1000% correct. I was doing all of these (my surgeon didn’t give me any restrictions), and I had to get reconstructive surgery 5 years later. Please take his advice SERIOUSLY ladies! A very expensive mistake.

    FINALLY a dr that agrees to what I have been telling people for years!! I seen this so often and even tell my bf when I had no implants that I dont like to train chest because I see some women have developed a “split” in between the breast where they have spaced out further than natural. I now have implants and still refuse to do these workouts. THANK YOU!!

    Thank you doctor for educating us with this video. Those 3 excercises are my 3 favorite ones to do. I do see that majority of the trainers that I've trained with don't stress out the issue of avoiding these excercises if you have breast augmentation done. It makes a huge difference and I'm glad I ran into this video while researching more on what excercises are safe and what not. Thank you and God bless.

      you're welcome! I just saw another female athlete who had BA done 10 years ago. Now with lateral fold malposition (implants on side of her chest). her trainer has pushed on her for chest training for years. Thus the result. I will have to fix it. But again. I feel it could have been avoided! Don't train your chest when you have submuscular implants!

      I have to ask you why you want to train your chest??? Outside of powerlifting and the physique class in women's bodybuilding, there is no reason to develop the chest muscles. Pushups, burbies, any body weight exercises are fine with me. I'm just opposed to weight training to develop mass and strength in women with implants. Does that help?

I follow all your videos on BA not just for exercising. You are a very special person for us ladies out there. I am a personal trainer and nutritionist and Pilate instructor. I am almost 3 weeks post op from a BA. with small implants to fill my B CUP OR LITTLE C CUP. The heaviest weight i use is 5 kg. I plank lots and do dumbbell press ups from the floor. I do the exercise ball plank in my classes and straight leg 100 beginners. Lots of my Pilates exercises are using the core and abs and arms and body weight. My weight is 46 kg but i am very strong with lots of definition but not big muscles. Will i be Ok to do these again.? and after 4weeks post op?. Because i always feel these exercises working my chest. I don,t need to do a chest push now because i have a chest! I have been a trainer and dancer ballet for over 30 years.

My plastic surgeon said they were difficult to place back under the muscle due to my really thick, well developed pec muscles (faithful Orange Theory Fitness member 4x week) I'm thinking l should to follow your advice going forward and ditch the presses, flys and dips to let the muscle relax and thin down (though l never had any side displacement of the old implants. I'm very interested in more defined better developed shoulders/upper arms.... any exercises off limits here that are too strong? Pushups? Recommendations? Thank you in advance 🏋😊💪

    ORANGE THEORY Workouts???
    Dr. Morales thank you soooo much for this. My board certified surgeon gave me the go ahead for bench press (I know every surgeon is different) only reason for wanting to lift was to 'feel' strong and keep up with the exercises in my OTF class. However, I will ask for modifications after your video. How do you feel about the water rowers? The trainers tell us it is 60%legs 20% core 20% arms. IT's a big part of their workouts and I'd like to keep it if not a risk to my implants under muscle. Also, can you clarify about push ups..I know in your reply you are fine with it but in your video around 6:45 you mention not doing 'hundreds of bench press or push ups' orange theory does incorporate push ups and chest via TRX straps please share your opinion on both. Thank you! From Chicago :-)

    • @RolandoMoralesJr
      @RolandoMoralesJr  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for delay! I like orange theory. Anything with body weight I feel is fine. In excess is unnecessary. I just don't feel that you need to train your chest. I don't see a point. There is the downside as I explained. I love the water rowers! It's mostly a back exercise, so I have no concerns there.
      Thanks for the question and comment! -RM

They still look fine. My muscles are weak, I want to try strengthening exercises before undergoing surgery to put them above-muscle. • @RolandoMoralesJr
      @RolandoMoralesJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question. never thought of that one. those exercises are a whole body synchronized movement. you will inevitably use chest muscles (the pectoralis major muscle). this movement in particular puts the weight on your upper chest. your pecs are one of the load bearing muscles. so I would discourage it mostly because you are trying to lift as much as possible. stronger the pec muscles get, more chance of lateral displacement of implants with time. hope that helps and best wishes!

    How does working out with implant under the fascia is that any different than under the muscle working out? Does the fascia adhere tighter when working chest or is it still frowned upon

    • @RolandoMoralesJr
      @RolandoMoralesJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it is different. having a "subfascial" (if you believe that) will not impact working chest. subfascial is equivalent to subglandular. which means the implant is above the muscle, and under the breast tissue.

    Could you answer this for me, I'm super interested. So, chest press is a no-no, but push-up's are fine. How so? For most people, chest press with (for example 10kg) is much easier than doing push-ups with their body weight.
