  • I don't know what it is with Jayco caravans whether they be new, old, Expanda, Journey or Starcraft. There seems to be a problem when when connecting to mains water. You likely know about this issue or if your van just ticked over 3 months old your about to. Here's a way to fix it in 10 minutes for about $100 bucks. I know Jayco would do it under warranty, but this is less of a headache.

    I've got a Silverline 2018 and had poor pressure, so took out the pressure limiting valve and cleaned and retensioned spring. This made it somewhat better, but still only average, although completely clean. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a PLV from Reece Plumbing hoping a good quality valve may make the difference. Purchased it for approx $70 (same rating as original 350 kpa) and changed it (about 15 minutes work) - now shower goes perfect with fast running water. I had spoken to a mobile caravan repair guy who advised not to change the kpa but just to get a good quality valve. Well worth the expense.

    This problem isn't exclusive to Jayco. I have (had) the same issue with my Adria. (I suspect this may be a common fault with all 'pressurised' caravan plumbing systems) Connect to CP water supply (tap) and all works well, initially. But let the system stand, pressurised, for fifteen minutes or so and no water will flow from the faucets. It's necessary to disconnect from the supply, let the system de-pressurise and re-connect, whereupon it all works again. That, or go turn off the CP tap every time you finish with the faucet. I used the same valve as shown here, with fittings that let me attach the inlet-side to the CP tap and the outlet-side to my drinking-water hose, via a "Gardena" style connector. Now, the vans entire plumbing system, including the hose, is protected from over-pressure. The valve and fittings cost me $65, from my local plumbing supplies store so it might be prudent to disconnect the valve from the tap and store it inside, when you're away from your caravan. ;-)

      This fix is confirmed. After years of no pressure we stretched the spring and water pressure is now fantastic in sink and shower.

    Why you would cut off hose John Guest fittings rather than just popping the hose out is beyond me.

    great video - very helpful thanks - do you need to drain the water pipes / tanks before changing the valve? Does water come out when you take the pipes off the old valve? Thank you very much

    Surely this is a warranty issue. If the water system doesn't work like it should then it's up to Jayco to fix it....That's where I'll be going (armed with this info)

    Whereabouts is the valve located? I have a silverline and looked all over underneath and can’t find it.

    • @DASHOffRoad
      @DASHOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s under there somewhere. Follow the mains in line

    • @brent7344
      @brent7344 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily underneath. Some it will be on the inlet pipe under some furniture.

    500kpa is pretty high, have you had any leakage yet? This might just make my wife happy when at a caravan park!

    Where is the valve located on a 2004 Heritage ? I looked under the caravan, and cannot find any piece that would look like the one you display

    Hi mate, do you have links for the valve and end pieces on each side you used from bunnings?
