"The Tenant" is the third of Polanski's "apartment trilogy". "Repulsion" is about a sick person in a sane environment. "Rosemary's Baby" is a sane person in a sick environment. "The Tenant" is a sick person in a sick environment. It also has brooding beauty Isabelle Adjani. It is more flawed than the other two. Lots of paranoia on display. and that is always a good time.
Epic haul! I got most of my Halloween pickup last month which included: Island of Lost Souls, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1931), Curse of Frankenstein, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
You should try watching Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, and The Tenant back to back to back, those films have been referred to as "The Apartment Trilogy" it seems that Polanski has always thought that Apartment buildings were "creepy". Regardless of your views on him as a person, he has always been one of the greatest filmmakers.
I love horror movie marathons! I used to go to the Music Box Theater all the time when I lived in Chicago, but they hadn’t started doing marathons then. Now, out here in Los Angeles, there’s horror movie marathons all around me! Most of them don’t tell you what the movies are until right before they’re screened.
I remember 1972 being just a great year to go to the movies and have a good time..... and maybe unintentional laughs. First run in the theater, I saw " frogs " " Blacula ", " Ben ", Tales from the Crypt ", Beware The Blob ", " Dracula AD 1972 " and " Horror Express ", both with Lee and Cushing. Lot of " Schlocky "times that year. Great memories.
I like F13 '09 for a couple reasons, the biggest being that many of the kills are themed around camping activities: archery, are throwing, even weenie roasting. 10/10 fricheks
The Friday the 13th remake has aged well, IMO. I didn't like it when I first saw it too, but it has definitely grown on me. Derrick Mears is simply one of the best Jasons.
Watch squirm twice. Once in colour and then in B&W. The first time it was shown on TV, it was accidentally broadcast in black and white. Lieberman loved it and has since said that he was influenced by 50s movies and now wished he had made it monochrome.
Fairly nice haul! A few misses I probably won't watch again, but there are some great keepers in there a lot of people seem to be sleeping on. Still have to crack a few open because I spent more time watching favorites this month versus new purchases still sealed in a pile.
"Excellent...let me know if there's any change in his condition." (hangs up phone) "He's Dead!" -Top Secret BTW, you should like "The Tenant." It's got a great atmosphere with an intriguing premise, creepy tension, and well executed overall.
I started following your channel as a TH-cam recommendation. I’ve loved your videos so far. I wanted to ask because I know your physical media collection is huge in different formats. I’m curious about 4K since I have a 4K TV. Do you have a recommendation for a 4K Player?
Had the pleasure of going to the Terror Vision booth at another event in Chicago and got a copy of The Nailgun Massacre. You've definitely convinced me to check out the movie marathon event next year.
I really got into Japanese and Asian horror after Ringu, so yeah go for it. Those types of movies tend to rely more on atmospheric and creepiness than jump stares and gore. They are very good at making you use your imagination.
Great stack of movies pickups here! I really want to get the Frogman blu ray, but that's going to have to be an import. BTW If at any point you want to talk about Japanese horror movies, I run a podcast that I'd be happy to have you as a guest on!
I just found this channel & I love it & subscribed! It’s cool 2 see a young person so knowledgeable & appreciative of the classics! They should let u do the hosting on TCM when they run the horror shows! Also, check out the Sammy Terry show intro from Indiana that I grew up watching in the 70s! He was a ghoul that hosted the horror mi ones we stayed up 4 every Friday night. His name was obviously take from cemetery. He scared us 2 death & had a creepy laugh. Every state had a creepy Friday night host because we didn’t have cable we waited 4 all the horror movies on Friday night. U should do that & get a scary stage set & screen some horror movies w classic commercials especially drive in ones. Also, watch Horror Hospital if u didn’t see that. It was a classic 70s drive in movie.
End of the Line is pretty awesome. It was the first Terror Vision title that intrigued me and it did not disappoint. And The Tenant is great. That packaging is great. I've found some way to separate Roman Polanski the person from the films he's made, even with his starring role here.
is that the 1959 "Ghost Of Yotsuya"? If so it's one of my favourites. Super atmospheric. For other vintage Japanese horror fun I would also recommend Matango: Attack Of The Mushroom People as well as the Yokai Monsters trilogy (although the latter are more "kids" films they are full of spookiness and weird wacky pracgtical effects and perfect for the Halloween season)
The Ghost of Yotsuya is really cool! I think you'll enjoy it. I don't remember loving The Snow Woman but it's decent. I'll hopefully pick that set up but it's so hard to budget for everything that's coming out. I always say the movies in the Forgotten Gialli sets are forgotten for a reason, ha. I do love Autopsy though which is part of Volume 3. If you want a good Italian set from VS, the Camille Keaton set is pretty solid. I think you'll dig the gothic vibes of Tragic Ceremony and I really enjoyed Madeline, Study of a Nightmare.
END OF THE LINE is one I'll be interested to hear your take on. I haven't seen in in my 17 years and my reaction was a little mixed partly because the scariness of it was really heavily sold to me and partly because 17 years ago I had watched a lot fewer Horror movies and had very different ideas about what was good and what wasn't. I DEFINITELY think you should watch it and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Lucky to get Eyeball 4K for free. I didn’t even know it was released yet. That disc goes for $47 on Diabolik. But what you have there is the 88 Films web exclusive with original poster art. (The standard LE art is boring head salad of the characters.) With tax and international shipping I paid $67 for the web exclusive. 😬
I’d be curious to know what you think about FROGS. Personally, I love it! I saw it when it first came out at the drive-in on a double feature with GODZILLA VS. THE SMOG MONSTER. But it’s not for everyone. I actually ran it at a horror movie party once and it cleared the room! And like you, I’ve never seen THE TENANT. I read the book back when I was in high school, and it really made my head spin. Please do a review of it after you watch it!
I rather liked Friday (2009). I enjoyed the Jason as clever hunter vibe rather than yet another Jason as unkillable superzombie. Glad that you goet End of the Line. I thought I was the only person who had ever seen it. A pity that the writer/director did almost nothing else.
I just hit my local charity shop here in the and picked on DVD Zombie Strippers, Strippers Vs werewolves, Hammer House Of Horror TV series and Dead Set by Black Mirror's Charlie Brooker.
Hi Daniel. I have just compiled a watchlist for Halloween. It should be great, Road kill, Legend of Hell House, Shaun of the Dead, The Descent, The Others, House of Wax, Dahmer, Sorority Row ! xx
I love Japanese and Korean horror movies; my favorite is a Korean movie called Arang. It’s a horror/mystery with an amazing storyline. I enjoy your videos and watch in the early morning with a cup of coffee.
Sadly, still no “Dark Secret of Harvest Home”. Oh well… I am watching the classics: Lon Chaney Sr- The Penalty 1920 Lon Chaney Sr - Hunchback of NotreDame 1923 Lon Chaney Sr- Phantom of the Opera 1925
The movie the victim was released on NBC with the title A Case of R--, the net work got in a lot of trouble the assault scenes were very graphic for that time.
Have you seen Lady in White? (1988) what a movie! I haven’t come across it before until today and the first third of the movie has the best fall/Halloween vibes!! Very dark movie in ways, loved a lot about it. Think you may enjoy it!!
some good stuff, if you like frogs ,you will really love the food of the gods , great critter film , and if you have`nt seen it hunt down a copy of prophecy 1979 not the fallen angel film , but the mutated bear film !
I enjoyed the remake for Friday the 13th, I thought it was better than the Nightmare On Elm Street remake but nothing never tops the original. "Never f*** with the original.
I love Hong Kong films and Shaw Bros is normally great stuff, but I hated Corpse Mania, not for me. Ghost Dance was not great but decent enough and a rare movie that I would like to see a remake of because I did like the story.
Yeah man. My Soul to Take isn't as bad as its rap is. Been quite some time since I watched it, but I know there have been far more revered films that i have liked less over the years. Can't go wrong with most of Polanski films, and The Tenant is a good slow burn. I wish Arrow could get a hold of and put out newly restored edition of Polanski's Frantic with Harrison Ford.
Dude, I feel repulsed by Roman Polanski too, what a despicable human being. He is a good director, though. I honestly kind of hate how much I love most of his films 😢
I think separating the art from the artists is way overrated and usually a copout. Of course we have to remember that artists are human beings and as such are imperfect, therefore we shouldn't put them on pedastals. If we required all artists to be perfect, then we wouldn't be able to enjoy anything. But also there is a line. There are lines that no one should cross, and drugging and raping a 13 year old girl is one of those lines. The fact that anyone watches or supports Roman Polanski's work is completely disgusting, and just goes to show how normalized sexual violence against women and girls is, and always has been. Please don't dance around his crimes. No matter how good of a director he is, he is a rapist and pedophile.
Kino cult very Disappointing Just scream factory re releases Yes, don't fall down the TH-cam trap. Once you start getting free releases from companies, you guys turn into commercials.
I can't get enough of your horror content buddy, love them so much and and they're super entertaining.
Thanks dude!!
As an original monster kid, who picked up FM#1 from a newsstand, it's great to see you younger guys keeping the tradition alive. Bravo!

Definitely thank you for the recommendations. Happy Halloween 🎃👻
The Woman In Black is 1 of my favorite ghost movies!! extremely underrated or under-appreicated.
End of the line is great.
Good to see you got Frogman-- I did the VFX; director Anthony Cousins and I are actively working on a sequel
I love the pull to DVDs again! Remember Media Play? Miss that place! Also, Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane? Yes.
I loved Media Play, I used to buy all kinds of movies and cds from them. How I miss the good old days.
So glad you got End Of The Line! No one talks about that film and it’s sooooo good!
You've got some awesome movies ! And I love seeing you so excited and happy !
Wow awesome Blue Rays and 4K's, definitely awesome choice of films too, love it man 😊😊
Frogman was pretty great. Great to see a Terror Vision release at the Mart
